30 years ago this was a pay lake it has been shut down for years. I got it a few years ago for a family getaway. So there is some really nice fish in the lakes. This ecological art project is recruiting visitors to camp on scenic prairies, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2026, Beardsnest provides a glimpse into the 5th year of succession, which is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie that is flanked by the rocky and steep slopes of a mature forest.
Pet friendly and a good fit for self-sufficient types that prefer quiet camping over dense layouts, but still want to get into to the park quickly (~6.2 miles to Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for a greater variety of food, drink, and other cave experiences. Expand from campsites into a sketch-work of prairie and woodland trails featuring characteristic karst elements of topography.
Visitor support allow us to plant trees (~530 seedlings as of March 2026), establish native grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species.
In our opinion, the essential Mammoth Cave NP experience should have 3 basic layers: 1) the underworld (cave tours), 2) upper world (hiking), and critically, the flow of water that connects the two (Green River). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space where we imagine what is beneath the surface and how these worlds are linked, while above ground hiking on land or kayaking on the rich and biodiverse Green River. There is more here than can be digested in a lifetime of observation, but examining in orbits of the 3 layers will provide a foundation of intuition and understanding.
Floating the Green River is like leaving developed reality and dropping into pure nature. We offer kayak trips and guided tours that leave from camp, tailored to your schedule.

You will drive 2 miles down a chip sealed road and then almost a mile down a dirt road past where the public road ends. Stay as connected or as disconnected as you want. Our farm offers the perfect escape from the day to day race of life. If you want to get away come spend a few days with us!!! We only allow booking of one camp site at time to ensure your privacy. Upon arrival there are 2 sites to pick from(see map in photos section). Camp firewood available for purchase at the barn on your way in. Access requires crossing a rough dirt gulley that may be muddy, rutted, uneven, or washed out depending on weather. 4WD is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, especially after rain. You will be responsible for removing/towing a vehicle if it gets stuck.
Review ALL listing photos before booking. The entrance and gulley are shown. You are responsible for determining whether your vehicle can safely access the property.
GPS: 250 Rosser Road, Cub Run, KY (gets you close, not the exact location). If you reach the house, you've gone too far. Entrance is the angled dirt road on the right before the road ends.

Writing this review for my bf; I booked but he stayed the night. He said our dogs loved it and he was super happy with the Beachhouse. He loved that the shampoos/soaps were provided, as well as clean towels and wash cloths. Our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well! He wants to book another stay if we have the time on our trip back.

We had an excellent and peaceful stay on Aaron's farm. We set up at Site 2, which has a slope and not ideal for multiple tents. (Site 1 is much better for that). However, we were able to set up our two hammocks in the woods between the cornfield and lake. This was actually ideal, because it helped with the alternating periods of rain and heat. Either site you choose, the property is quiet and expansive - perfect if you are looking to simply disconnect and relax. The access to the lake was tricky - but we were easily able to bring two kayaks to the water. My sedan had no issues getting to the sites when the weather/ground was dry, but be aware there is a slight uphill that required some “finesse” when the ground was wet. Probably won’t be back with the kids, but will definitely consider returning for a solo or grownups weekend.

Camping on Kevins land was incredible! Me and my crew had a great time enjoying both the campsite and local area. Kevin and his sons were especially awesome, taking us out to the river to go kayaking and hiking. This truly was a wonderful experience and I would recommend with the best regards for anyone to camp here if they are visiting mammoth cave!

We loved camping at tar springs 2, Chuck and Van are the hostesses with the mostesses. Their land is an absolute beautiful retreat. We ended up camping at the cliffhanger 1 and it was amazing, the clean bathrooms, hosts and lake are just down the path. We checked out most of the other sites as we were the only ones camping and all the sites are private and maintained. One night it rained hard and we had our own private waterfall at our camp, our camp stayed dry under the cliff, even when the wind tried to push the rain at us. We brought our two eskies with and they loved roaming the grounds and meeting up with their new friends, Poppy and Heidi bear. This is a magical place, peaceful and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful property!

This is a beautiful site. The host Kevin is consciously working on a ecologically sound prairie grass site that really takes a person in when they arrive. Very well maintained as well in the camping region, so an excellent mix of clean yard for camping and natural beauty. 110/100. Would certainly be honored to stay again and do suggest to others. Really loved staying here, would definitely recommend it. The site was gorgeous overlooking the forest and felt a lot more secluded than a public campground. Kevin and his sons were super friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Highly recommend the kayaking on the green river, it was so peaceful and they were great about accommodating the best timing for dropping off and picking up. The beautiful and friendly pups running around was a huge plus as well!
