Decatur has a mini golf course, splash cove water park, children's zoo and museum, a governor's mansion for tours and 3 museums to visit. Milikin University offers local college level sports. Decatur has a great lake for paddle boarding, boating and fishing with canoe trips down the local Sangamon River.
Several local breweries and cute market areas makes Decatur a great place to visit. Take a ride on the trolley and learn out our history.
Springfield sites are only a hop and skip away with many things to see and learn. Museums offer great programs and the New Salem Park is a fun day trip with the kids to learn about historic living. Lincoln's sites around in several counties are great to see.
You also have the opportunity to hike in some great parks and ride your bike on some outstanding central Illinois paths.
If you happen to visit late summer enjoy the Illinois Farm Progress show and maybe catch a concert at the Devon Theatre on the lake.

I have a lake with lots of fish to go fishing, canoeing, kayaking. I also have small jon boat available for fishing. My property also has a outdoor his and hers privys..(bathrooms) No water though. I also have two construction trailers that we remodeled with couches chairs tables and refrigerators and TV's. These have a microwave in them to. These are available for people to stay in if wanted. They also have heat and AC. No water though. They cost extra to stay in.There's also places with camper plug ins. So power is available. Also have horseshoe pit and overhead cooking area. Great place for tent camping also. Have fire pit. And fire rings available. Also have access to firewood. Just no water. Great quiet enjoyable place for getaway to go fishing,canoeing or kayaking. Conveniently located between Peoria and Bloomington Illinois. Only about 3/4 from the Mackinaw river. For those who love to canoe and kayak on the river.

Tobogganing, anyone? Weldon Springs State Park is a place for all seasons, though we have to say winter time here sounds pretty sweet. Sled or toboggan down a hill, fish in the freeze, or cross-country ski across the icicle-laced countryside. Once it warms up, all the classic trappings of a park are found in abundance. Hike one of the several trails while you keep an eye out for hawks and warblers, or angle for some bullhead fish from the comfort of your boat. When hunger strikes, treat yourself to a po'boy or panini at Pinky's Restaurant. If you come the right time of year, you may just be lucky enough to catch the Apple and Pork Festival at the nearby C.H. Moore Homestead. Scrumptious!

I grew up on a farm and thrilled to be enjoying country living once again! We are not annual campground, but we have space on the property for travelers needing an overnight or two. We can be found on HIPCAMP listed under OLD RUGGED BARN.
We are in central IL near Historic Rt 66, minutes north of Bloomington-Normal with easy access from I-55. The property is a small 3.5 Acre farmstead that includes our event venue, space that can used for campers, and my home.
We offer space for Campers through Hipcamp. We are NOT a campground per se. We do have space on our property to comfortably accommodate up to 8 spaces for Overnight guests.
I moved to the farm in 2010 with the intent to simply enjoy the peace And quiet of country living. Then I realized we Could create a place that could serve as a place for community to gather for special events.

Pitch your tent near the creek (site 1) in a completely private site (kids can sleep in the truck bed topper or fort if they'd like) or on the field to the side of the house (site 2) for a semi-private spot nearest to the bathroom and with a wood chip drive entrance for larger vehicles or (site 3) a semi- private spot down by the creek and the hay bales to the left of the house. (Or pick a spot of your choosing). Enjoy the farm animals, walk the property, build a fire, and enjoy the outdoors!
There are more animals to pet from April through October (typically we have bunnies, chickens, sheep, cats, dogs, alpacas, miniature horses, horses, pig, goat, etc.). In the winter the horses, alpacas, chickens, dogs, cats and sometimes bunnies are available to visit.
Firewood bundles available for $10
The creek at times is swimmable, other times it's walkable, and sometimes in the heat of July it's very shallow. There is a zip line, log or bridge to cross the creek.
There is a state park (Ft. Daniel) less than 5 minutes away and others a bit further (Spitler or Sand Creek)
Horseback riding may be available upon request - $25.00 per person or $50.00 per family.
There is a large shaded playground in the front yard for the kids with a trampoline, small zip line, ninja line, slack line, silks, climbing dome, hammocks, etc.
BATHROOM: If you are looking at the house from the street, the bathroom is on the right of the house, attached to the house. It is a small shed looking building and is pictured. It has a toilet and running hot and cold water.

We purchased our 45 acre farm in 1997, since then we have operated a sustainable small organic farm.
In January of 2018 we purchased 58 more acres that is attached to our land.
The property has a greenhouse and about a half acre of field that we raise vegetables and fruit on.
We have a 3 acre pond with a naturally sustaining fish population, that we swim and boat in. We have some news for everyone from new campers to those that have visited before, we had our pond dredged this fall and winter (2025-2026). this was a much needed improvement for the ecology of the pond and it's inhabitants. We do want everyone to know it will look different for a while. There were trees that had to be removed from the north and east side of the pond, and until we can get the soil moved that came out of the pond, there will be piles of soil around the pond. The depth of the pond will be low until we receive enough rain to fill it back up (we didn't drain it completely, but it is much lower right now). We are keeping site 2 closed for 2026 so the grass has a chance to grow back. We will be adding a few more sites once the pond area is landscaped. There are hiking trails that go through many small pastures and woods with streams running through them.
Plenty of wildlife, hiking and mountain biking areas. We have a certified kitchen at the farm and have products raised and/or made on the farm for folks to purchase.
Ice is available at the farm $5/8 pound bag.
Supposedly our house is haunted and there are a couple of haunted sites within 15 miles of the farm, Anderson Cemetery and Witch's Bridge.
Nearby Taylorville has a Walmart, Aldi, Kroger, and many small local businesses. There is a YMCA and a few parks, in Taylorville.
Lake Sangchris State Park is close by. The capital of Illinois, Springfield, is 35 miles from the farm.

Nice trails for hiking or biking. There is even a small "race track" in the bottom bowl near the creek. There are several direct access points to the creek for fishing or wading. We have miles of marked trails that are easy for everyone.
Horseshoe Bend Main is a larger campground with four dispersed sites which a very spread out. This site has (3) 30 amp outlets for RV's. Porta potties are also provided.
The Horseshoe Bend Creekside sites are designated spots that are on the West Panther creek bank. There are porta potties, but no electric or water.

This place, Brady’s Hip Camp here was just what we really needed. Not far from our home but far enough to feel that we didn’t just roll out of bed and wake up there. Brady was a friendly guy and an easy going guy. Felt very comfortable here.
.The directions were as clear as the weather we had and with the generous supply of fire wood he provided we were able to get cozy. Shower was perfect, clean and comfortable. Minimal but well thought out. We will be returning! Thank you!

We couldn't recommend this place more!! The host, Brady, was SO kind, & allowed us to move camping sites, due to my own mistake while booking! It was so peaceful, there were no disturbances, & we had a WONDERFUL time! Our dogs enjoyed themselves, as did we! Brady came by our site & chatted with us for about 10 minutes, & told us how lively it used to be out there back in the 70's! It made us kind of sad, that it isn't like that anymore, but the place sure does hold alot of memories for alot of people! We didn't get the chance to walk the trails, or see the old bridge, but our time there was amazing, nevertheless! We are planning on coming back very soon! I hope more people book a spot out there for a weekend, or even a night, just to experience the woods, animals, and peace & quiet!
On a side note, our site didn't have wood at it (no fault of the host, we did find out from him the next day, that there was a communal wood pile under the pavilion), so we brought our own from home & left a little pile for the next campers who decide to come enjoy the campsite we were at!
We really can't recommend it more!

Just took my second trip out to Horseshoe Bend and it was fantastic. I was at a site on a different part of the property and it was just as good as the first time. There are some very easy to walk and well maintained trails for when you want to stretch your legs a bit. Even popped out to Yoder’s Country Market a few miles away for some really nice snacks and goodies.

My partner and I were trying out our (new to us) Aliner trailer while traveling from MInnesota to North Carolina and back. We stayed at Horseshoe Bend both ways. It's a sweet spot 6 hours from home. Lovely wooded campground, great for making a fire and sitting quietly. We were happy to have power and a pit toilet for the overnight stops. Brad stopped around on our second visit and seemed quite friendly.

This was an utterly dreamy camping experience. The woods were verdant and alive with wildlife, (coyotes, deer, fish, some sort of water ferret??), but also there were hardly any bugs, (probably thanks both to the time of year and the well-maintained, mowed grass).
Creekside West is a nicely private campsite, and although it is the closest to the (non-busy) road of the available campsites, and you can see the main house and shop through the trees, the site itself is enshrouded in trees on all sides so didn’t feel at all exposed. There were large patches of sun all through the day, and the creek was perfect for wade-swimming (about 3’ deep near the campsite).
Beautiful walking trails, meadows and woods and creek.
And yes, I have never seen a cleaner port a potty! Smelled like a rose garden and was perfectly clean within.
Our host was attentive but not overbearing - checked in via text to make sure we were alright but otherwise gave us space. And friendly when we did run into him!
The campsites do vary quite a bit from one another, so make sure you read the descriptions and look at the pictures to get a sense before booking.

We arrived well after nightfall and couldn't find the camp entrance. We managed to get Brady on the phone and he kindly guided us into the campground.
Once there everything was perfect! Both the shower and outhouse were short walk from the camp. But the highlight was the babbling creek gently singing us to sleep.
