We invite you to our little slice of paradise! Enjoy the natural beauty of Lookout Mountain in Mentone, AL. Folklore Forest has 270 feet of Little River Frontage for you to enjoy. Considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state, bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Listen to Pipwild Spring trickling over the mossy rock waterfall. Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. 10 acres total creates a little paradise in the middle of town. Enjoy panoramic raised tree views with beautiful sunrises.
While here, you can enjoy outdoor access to all ten acres including a nice scenic driveway and walk and a pasture down by the road.
We are conveniently located close to East Ridge, Ringgold, and Fort Oglethorpe, with downtown Chattanooga only 25 minutes away.
NOTE: Driveway access is paved and curving on an incline. It is a little steeper near the end as pictured. It’s 12 feet wide and a little wider around the curves for extra room. We have pulled trailers and a 20 foot uhaul up through there with no issue. 5th wheel campers may have difficulty not having enough width for turns.
NOTE: Our two dogs are free range when they are let out of the main house. This is why we aren’t pet friendly for bookings. They are quiet and harmless, but if you are averse to animals around be aware.

We have a working farm with sweeping views of Lookout mountain and only 12 minutes from all the comforts of downtown Chattanooga. Our expansive 120-acre property provides campers with the freedom to choose their camping spots anywhere on the farm.
Farm animals include horses, cattle, hogs, chickens, goats, bees, stocked ponds, gardens and much more. We have strategically placed signs throughout the property to help you identify potential neighbors. If you desire the company of ducks, consider setting up camp near our picturesque duck pond. For those who prefer the rustic crowing of roosters to a phone alarm, we have four chicken coops dispersed across the farm. Our horses freely roam the front pastures. The cows enjoy grazing on lush grass and taking refreshing dips in the ponds. They also relish watching the sunset from the hill's vantage point, as it offers the best view on the farm.
We are a working farm with staff tending to various jobs throughout the day. We have a map to show where the camping site sits on the property. We intentionally leave some of our fields uncut. In some fields, the grass can come up above the knees. We leave that to the animals to take care of. All of our staff are super friendly and happy to help guide you to the best camping spot and answer any questions. In searching for your campsite please note that there may be livestock in and around certain areas as we rotate pastures.
Potable well water can be located from the blue spigot outside of the staff housing area, in between the orange and green tiny home, and outside the outdoor shower.

This is a beautiful property with lots of interesting things to see. Robby is a very nice host and met us on our way in to explain the property and give some tips about hiking trails. He graciously let us switch sites once we arrived because my kids really liked the large hammock at a different site that wasn't occupied that night. There was already a tent set up, which was really nice so we could get right to enjoying the outdoors. We enjoyed hiking and seeing Civil War era rifle pits. Access was easy with our low ground clearance cross over SUV and probably even a regular car would be fine. The woods are so peaceful and we will definitely be back!

We loved tent camping on the farm. Easy to get to, Janna was so nice and happy and welcoming when I called her to let her know we arrived, there were so many cute farm animals! There was pretty much always at least one animal by our tent site at all times, even at night you would see their shawdows walking by and hear them munching on grass. The tent site had plenty of room to spread out and it felt private, and it was near the bathroom. If you want to literally be in the middle of a farm, this is the place to do it!

We liked the camp site (2), but the showers need work. One shower didn’t work at all and the second had a door about off its hinges. The area was somewhat noisy from a train close by. Overall it was a good and offered beautiful views, we would stay there again.

It is a beautiful, serene place to camp for the night. We weren't there long enough to enjoy all they had to offer but we walked the land and enjoyed every step. Directions to River Ranch were clear and concise. Doni was a very good host, explaining everything clearly and graciously opened his land for us to explore. This was our 2nd stay at the farm and just as great as the first. Our 37’ fifth wheel fits and levels out on the gravel RV pad wonderfully. 50 amp power is a plus. We had a couple of busy days and it was so nice to go back to the farm to unwind and enjoy the scenery. I can’t wait til the next time we have the opportunity to visit again.
