is a sanctuary for rescued and unique animals.
We have a Zebu bull, which are the oldest recorded bovine in history, dating back to the Bible.
We have goats and peacocks, chickens, a potbellied pig, rescued squirrels, and rescued ducks. Soon to come.... Sheep!!!
My property used to be the disposal site for the CocaCola bottling Company. Go on a scavenger hunt and find old bottles. The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing.
Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters.
Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels.
There are bike lanes on many of the major roads.
Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching.

Our beautiful unique property has been in the family for 3 generations. Over the years, our family, plus artists, musicians, & writers have come here to refresh and get inspiration from nature. But with Hipcamp, we've opened up for others to enjoy.
We limit the number of guests staying here to no more than 10, but the daily average is only 4.
We have walking trails, a pond where you can kayak, relax on the dock, or feed the huge fish (sorry no fishing allowed.) Also, on our property, there are swings, a tree house deck, obstacle course, fire pit area, wooden bridge, picnic table, and abundant bird life. There's also plenty of wide-open space where you can play frisbee, run, do yoga, and stargaze at night.
There's plenty to do in this area, using the farm as your base. Claxton, our hometown, is a great friendly, small-town with grocery and hardware stores and restaurants. Many guests like to side-trip over to the towns of Statesboro, Metter, Vidalia, and Savannah, plus the Golden Isles.

The Sandcastle offers a peaceful and inspiring respite from life in the Big City. We have goats, Zebu cattle, peacocks, ducks, a pig, chickens and a pet squirrel which are accessible to guests!Please visit our website to view our Local Guide.The spaceThe sandcastle is an incredible "Glamping" space and includes one queen bed with bedding. There is also a futon for additional guests.. There is a floor in the dome and both small screen windows and full panel windows for airflow and to keep out bugs. The sandcastle is a "glamping" tent. :-) Because it gets cold in the evenings, we have special insulation in the cooler months to keep you warm, along with duvet and blanket there is also a heater for winter and small ac for summer. The bathroom is private. It is VERY IMPORTANT that only toilet paper goes in the toilet. We have a super sensitive septic system. We have a small trashcan for any feminine products etc. You have your own parking spot and there is a short 30 foot trail to your yurt. Food and restaurants are very nearby in town and I provide a complete list of all my recommendations.For guests who stay in the Sandcastle, there is an outdoor shower, a pool, Also, a kitchenette and grill, fridge, sink, and personal fire pit are available for your use.We have an aquaponic pond with koi that feed our hydroponic vegetable garden and multiple bee hives that pollinate everything. We also have many fruit trees on the property. There is a pond for our ducks, and the intracoastal river that is just a walk down the street.Check out is no later than noon.Guests are encouraged to explore the 6 acre property, relax by the pond, on the deck or by the pool. Unfortunately you just can’t go behind the gates without me.There is access to a outdoor fire pit (wood is available for purchase), the outdoor shower and an outhouse.High-speed internet is provided free of charge. It only works closer to the main house, so you may have to sit outside to access it. Download those movies! There are two grocery stores within a couple of miles away.Our own eggs, honey and vegetables are available for purchase. Price per night does not include breakfast.Other things to noteIf you want to relax in a rural environment and experience a food-based, makers community then this is the place for you.The property has multiple dwellings and many shared spaces. I stayed at Heart of the Lowcountry while exploring Beaufort & couldn’t find a better location that was so close, especially with electric hookups at a reasonable price. The site is near the main road, but I didn’t hear much traffic at all during the night. There’s a huge open space perfect for walking my pup & stretching your legs. My neighbor was incredibly friendly—she even introduced herself & offered me dinner since I couldn’t find any fast food nearby, which was such a kind gesture. A thunderstorm rolled through during my stay & soaked the ground, making it a bit messy to walk around, but it didn’t take away from the peaceful vibe of the property. Overall, I had a great, quiet night & would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Liz & Kacey for sharing their beautiful property with us. We loved the wide open space for only our RV. Fantastic area to walk our two dogs. Hosts are wonderful folks and truly make you feel at ease. Even though close to a road, we wouldn't have known it, lots of trees that buffer the area.

Some of the highlights of this hip camp were picnic tables, fire rings, firewood on site, CLEAN portolet, and it’s dark and quiet nature. This was a last minute reservation because our planned hip camp canceled at the last minute (day prior). Liz and her partner Casey are the best! It was my first time using Hipcamp, first time staying and hooking up my camper, and it was such a great experience. Liz’s place is close enough to everything that your only a few minute drive to the necessities but quite and secluded that I had great privacy. The spot was easy to find, convenient hookups and overall clean and efficient. I wasn’t stressed out and was able to work and relax. The WiFi worked great as well! Highly recommend staying here!
