Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid.
Some info about the property:
-we DO NOT have water or power hookups
-we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough)
-we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by)
-none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly)
-most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

A lovely home away from home with everything you could need for a lil rest and relaxation... a/c to beat the heat, patio grill, wrap around mountainscape complete with lightning bug show at dusk, and a sweet pup named Lady Cooper for porch sitting company. The hosts went over and beyond in sharing their property and kindness, including a hand-delivered, freshly picked and baked blackberry cobbler (which I devoured within minutes, thanks again Chris!) We had a wonderful stay at Spring Dale Hipcamp hosted by Eston and his wife. They were incredibly warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The campsite was peaceful, well maintained, and a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.
Our pet, Naina, had an amazing time too! She especially loved playing with their friendly dog, Lady. Watching them have so much fun made our stay even more memorable.

This site exceeded expectations! The hosts stocked the RV with every single thing the average person would need to feel at home, and that’s exactly what it felt like. A home away from home. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was an ABUNDANCE of blackberries on site to pick! Not only that, they had a rock pile of rocks collected from the property that were full of character, and many of them with crystals which they allowed me to take as well. I came home with blackberries and beautiful rocks/crystals as if I visited a gift shop on my way out. The hosts themselves were close in location but very hospitable and respectful of my privacy. I will very likely be returning for another visit

Our stay with Gary was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome and at home. Gary is truly one of the kindest, most genuine hosts we’ve ever met. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed while still giving us plenty of privacy to enjoy our getaway.
The campsite felt like our own private oasis. The peaceful setting was exactly what we needed to escape and relax. One of our favorite parts was listening to the creek nearby. The sound of the flowing water was so calming and made the whole experience feel even more special.
Breakfast was amazing! I had the BLT quiche, and my husband had the camper-style skillet. Both were absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. It was the perfect way to start the day and easily one of the highlights of our stay.
Even the outdoor shower exceeded our expectations. The water pressure was fantastic, especially for an outdoor shower, and the temperature was always perfect. It was such a refreshing experience and showed how much thought has gone into making guests comfortable.
Every detail reflected the care Gary puts into hosting. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and already planning our next visit. We can’t wait to come back in the winter and experience the property in a different season. Thank you, Gary, for your kindness, hospitality, and for creating such a wonderful place. We highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway!

Cute cabin with AC directly across the street from the National Wildlife Refuge. Basic and clean bathhouse. Very nice staff and an awesome slaw dog from the restaurant!

3 nights at Herzen Platz (a place in the Heart)
This is a piece of paradise, with a stream running right by the campsite, all you can hear is the water running by you and setting you up for the ultimate relaxing experience. Gary (the host) has thought of everything you need and has an immediate response if you have any questions or need any help with anything. His two little dogs are great and super welcoming and friendly. The location is super convenient to Helen and surrounding areas and all they have to offer. I highly recommend a visit and stay here if you havent!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Farm! Shawn was an incredible host who made us feel so welcome and was always available whenever we needed anything. The views from the property are breathtaking, and our early morning walks were the absolute highlight of the trip. We already cannot wait to visit again soon! We highly recommend staying at The Farm!

The place was quite and peaceful. The directions and instructions were clear. The facilities were clean and I enjoyed my evening there. If the small A-frame house could have a second outlet so that the AC could use one and I could charge items on a second that would make this perfect. Regardless I did still enjoy my time!

The cabin was absolutely great! It was the perfect cozy retreat into the woods to disconnect and relax. The jacuzzi was a huge highlight and very enjoyable. Everything went smoothly, and Joni and Moni were great hosts—very attentive and fast to respond. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Herzen Platz (a place in the Heart)
This is a beautiful spot, even in the rain. We booked last minute as an anniversary getaway and a need to reconnect with nature. Gary is excellent, walking you through everything he has set up for you when you arrive. We loved the little trail that followed the stream, and the area near the tire swing. He also told us about a nature trail across the street.
Breakfast is AMAZING and so worth it. I had the quiche and my husband had the skillet. It is so nice after spending a night in a tent to wake up knowing you don’t have to make breakfast!
