This location is close to the head springs and Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park where you can discover the wild side of Florida with endangered Florida panther, red wolf, manatee and whooping crane, plus black bear, bobcat and, of course, alligator. The site is located 150 ft from the dock on our private residential property at the head of the springs, the dock is not visible from the site you do have to walk down to the dock area. This is a residential area and is very quiet. You can see the layout of the property in the photos from an aerial view as well as other photos of the setup. This listing is for the SITE ONLY. Setup your own RV under the shade then enjoy our shared dock with direct access into the Homosassa springs for a refreshing dip or paddle. The site has direct access to Pepper Creek Trail, a 0.75-mile paved trail that is part of the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. While you’re there, swing into the state park to view the sparkling waters of the Homosassa head spring and meet all of the native wildlife ambassadors, including Florida panthers, black bears, endangered whooping cranes, and many other amazing animals. Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat

We had a great time. We had our dog with us which is always a bonus. Our hosts helped us with whatever we needed and addressed any concerns we had quickly and attentively. We came for the river access and enjoyed it very much. Though they live nearby and there was another family renting another RV, it felt pretty private. We enjoyed the treehouse spot, the fishing dock, and the comfort of the RV at the end of each night. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks again!

Great spot for kayaking and enjoying the local nature. Spot was a great fit for our 28ft camper with one slide out. Make sure you have 50amp hook ups as we forgot the 30/50 conversion and had to get it from tractor supply last min but thats my fault. This beautiful space is a diamond for sure. This place will not disappoint.

Manatee Delight was nothing short of a complete delight! This spot is a DREAM. Favorite camping spot we have been to in our 3 years of camping. Spring access was absolutely stunning which is a hop skip and jump from the spot! Kate was a gracious host and I’m grateful they are listing this gem on HipCamp. We will 1000% be back- hopefully sooner than later!

Weekend Trip to Primitive Island on Withlacoochee

Great site, there was not a good area for bigger tents but we were able to put up a 10x10 canopy. Having the table, fire pit and wood bundles available was a plus. Would book again.

Weekend Trip to Manatee Delight RV Camp Site

This campground is amazing!! Private, wooded, with access to Kates clear blue spring. Kate is responsive, communicative, and ready to help however she can. Fire-pit, grill, and wood on-site (wood is for a small fee). A quick walk across the road onto the main property where the river is located. The property on the river is breathtaking. We will return over and over again.

3 nights at Old Florida Waterfront Getaway

We love Manatee Landing !!! We take our rv hook up to electric and water and enjoy going out to scallop and crab and fish !! Host is great !! Like our own little oasis !! 10 stars!!!

4 nights at Homosassa Springs RV Site

Very peaceful 🙏 super close to everything loved being able to access the springs right from the dock, wish it was cleaned up a bit more like the plants cut back so we could utilize the dock to swim and hang out but the bugs were a bit much , we were able to doc our boat which was awesome and our paddle boards . Lovely time and we will book again 😊 thank you for sharing your lovely site

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat

Ou weekend trip to the area went perfect. There was very litte we need to leave for. There was great fishing spot for my children. Kyake use was included. Several grills to chose from even an area for projecting a movie. RV was well maintained and fully stocked in case you forget your own stuff. We really enjoyed ourselves and thank the Host for greeting us.
