Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

I don’t want to rave too much about this place because I want it to be available the next time I need it! But seriously it was the perfect one night getaway for me for a bike packing trip. Rinsing off in the spring after was perfect. The campsite was peaceful and spacious. I hammock camp and having posts already up was an unexpected benefit. I will say that with a rain fly and hammock the post do sag in a bit when getting in your hammock, so take that into consideration. This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was outstanding. Judy was super nice and made me feel right at home.

7 nights at Mahan Farm Camping

We loved RV’g at Mahan Farm! Just as you enter the property you can’t help but notice it’s a beautiful & peaceful setting. We had our dogs and were able to walk them leashed, and let them run off leash (with permission) further out in the fields away from the horses. There was plenty of room for our 35’ rig and parking for our tow vehicle. Hook ups are convenient & water pressure was ok (FAR, FAR better than a nearby RV park we’ve stayed at in the past). Location is convenient to Publix, Walmart, Costco, & I-10. We’ll definitely be staying here again! Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

The meadow is a personal favorite! Tom happily invited us on a tour of his wonderful farm. Doing so I learned so much about the fame and the 200+ years of history that lays beneath him. The farm house that overlooks the sheep pasture is (for reasons unknown) built around a 200+ year building that has the original shingles on it. He gave us a tour of the sheep meadow, donkey pen, cow field, and the rest of the property. All the while keeping us engaged with his story telling of the land. He convinced us to try to feed the sheep and cows and that they were friendly. Personally I have never fed farm animals before so it was a pretty cool experience! All the animals are used to people so there’s really no need to be scared. They all ate out of my hand! The cows were gentle and the sheep…. Really tried to get the food haha. There is plenty of dried fire wood all over the farm so bringing your own wood is not necessary. Unless you don’t want to cut down branches with an axe. But whats the farm experience without cutting your own wood. The meadow DOES have a small outlet and has electrical connections if you need to connect an RV which is a plus. The meadow was stunning at night. Overall the entire experience was nothing but positivity and good conversations filled with laughter. Highly recommend driving out and enjoying the time away from technology at Glenn Farm!

Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

Arrowhead sink and Glenn Farm is a fantastic little get away! We booked this trip and Judy met us when we arrived. She graciously showed us the way to the camp site. She gave an inviting tour and showed us where the sink was. The sink is part of an underground river system. The sink is clean and free of trash. In fact it was so clean that it smelled like fresh moss and stone. The way a cave ought to smell. The sink is VERY deep but VERY refreshing in the summer time. Our entire campsite was overlooking a field which was very peaceful. Overnight you could hear owls hunting in the distance. The stars shine very bright and is very quiet. But if you are a beginner camper like myself, it’s still nice to hear civilization from afar as you get used to camping. Judy and Tom are both very friendly and love meeting campers. The entire property has many acres of farmland. This campsite and farm is a wonderful getaway for a day or two. Located just north of Gainesville most people take only a few hours to drive in. Overall highly recommended and plan on being back to this quaint farm. :)

Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

We were in a camper and we were able to run ac on the 110 but made sure we didnt overload with multiple things running. The field was beautiful and fairly level. There is a picnic table, fire pit and some shade. Be prepared to wash off shoes cause youll get muck on the bottom which, hey its a farm. The donkeys were unbelievably friendly with my dog. We enjoyed connecting with nature and the animals. The open land helped to keep bugs away with wind. Tom was so cool and wish I lived close to hang with him more. Felt like visiting with a friend.

7 nights at The Outside Inn

We love tent camping on Williams property, Andrew was so very helpful and always willing to give advice and directions of things to do in the area. We love the bathroom facilities as well as the location very quiet, beautiful for stargazing. We had a great time. Actually we had an excellent time Would recommend.

This is my second time staying here and I absolutely LOVE it. Both times ive stayed at the cave spot and it's just beautiful. Tom and judy are both wonderful hosts and the farmland is incredible.

This was by far my favorite Hipcamp to date. Nice hosts, beautiful property. Nice road for walking the dogs. Cute horses to pet. Listened to insects all night long. Quiet and peaceful and the feeling of safe isolation, despite being somewhere pretty populated. 10/10

We loved tent camping with the goats! We camped in the goat enclosure, and had a lot of fun keeping our stuff goat-proofed. We highly recommend ear plugs, as the roosters seem to think Dawn was every few minutes. But it was worth it! We really appreciated the community fridge that we could store some stuff in, and the community supplies (pots, pans, etc) in case you forgot something. The hostess was awesome. I even got to help with a baby goat delivery! Tell Fireball “hi” from me!

This cozy, quiet cabin was the perfect retreat during our 3-day soccer tournament stay. It had everything we needed—comfy beds, a warm shower, and a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax at night. One of the best parts was getting to spend time with the goats—such sweet animals! We even got to see a newborn baby with her mom, which was such a special experience. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend this unique and charming spot!

We had an AMAZING stay here! Tom was a wonderful host and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He greeted us when we arrived and took us around the property to show us the sinkhole and say hi to all the critters, and to help with getting to our campsite for the first time. The meadow was super quiet and peaceful, made for a really relaxing space to unwind after a long day at the nearby springs. Spending time with all the animals was just the cherry on top. Would give this place a 20/10, cannot say enough good things about it! 🩷

2 nights at Glenn Farm

We absolutely loved camping at arrowhead sink! It’s so quiet and peaceful during the day and the beautiful sounds of farm animals and wildlife at night. The sink itself was really cool and only steps away from our camp site. The hosts are great people and very communicative. I’d strongly recommend glen farm as a primitive camp site. With that, there are bugs (ticks, a few mosquitoes) but you are camping outside so that should be expected. Thank you Tom and Judy!

Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible. As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. Our primary program is to serve area youth with agricultural education and the opportunities to work with our goats. All proceeds from bookings go toward our programming. Glenn Farm

The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

River Rise Cottage On the Aucilla

Our property is riverfront along the Aucilla River, and sits within the Aucilla Wildlife Management area. It is surrounded by nature and old Florida scenery. We are appx 45 mins from the little fishing village of Steinahatchee and 45 mins from Florida's State Capitol ,Tallahassee . Come to relax ! We offer kayaks and life jackets that can used at your risk. Scheduling is required . We have 3 singles, one being a fishing and one two persons. Furnished cottage with large river view windows and a walk around deck. The cottage is an open floor plan with king size bed and a full-size sleeper sofa. A comfy twin mattress bed can also be provided. Enjoy relaxing and watch the river flow by from the swivel rocker recliner. Climate controlled AC/Heating unit. Wall mounted swivel TV for easy viewing 200 channel Dish TV. Wi-fi available The cottage has a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and dishware. BBQ grille located on outside deck and propane is provided. There is a gas fire pit on the north river deck and a wood burning fire pit along the riverbank, wood provided. The space River Rise Cottage is set up to offer a relaxing and enjoyable experience to make lasting memories. The cottage has large windows with outstanding river views and a walk around deck that you can fish from. Should it rain, you can enjoy the sound of the rain on the metal roof. Several feet from the cottage is a screened porch overlooking the scenic river, with plenty of comfortable seating and a daybed... should you want to nap. From this location It's not uncommon to see wildlife. A wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening bug free. Take a swing on the open porch, sit riverside at either our propane fire pit or have a campfire (firewood provided) which is also along the river nestled in the woods. We encourage guests to use the outdoor seating areas for the ultimate relaxation experience and to find your favorite spot! Bar-B-Q with our easy-to-use propane grill (utensils and grill pans provided). Our fish station makes cleaning your catch a breeze! Also available a full-size fridge located on the screened porch in addition to the mini fridge in the cottage. Guest access Large open deck with ladder access to the floating dock which is perfect for mooring your boat or launching kayaks. Kayaks are available for guest use. Provided are (2) single person (1) fishing single person and (1) two-person tandem kayaks with life vest. We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Use of the kayaks are at your "own risk" with no host liability. We encourage guest to enjoy the common areas porches at back of main house. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank. A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay. Other things to note: House rules for children staying at the cottage. We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage. We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. There is a $50 non-refundable pet deposit fee for 1 -2 pets. A guest’s animal must not be: Out of control Unhouse broken. Left alone at the listing without prior approval. Allowed into areas that are considered unauthorized to the guest. Allowed in a public space without being harnessed, leashed, or tethered and not under the guest’s control. Please clean up after your pet My wife and I live full time in the main house; however, we respect our guest’s privacy and our interaction is catered to each guests preference. At this time I can host 1 RV or camper with full hook ups, 3 RV sites with power, water and 1 boondock (no power/water) site but large enough for an off-grid/self-sustainable RV. I'm always happy to show folks around and share the story. Please note: During the rainy season the grass may get a bit long at times. You can also expect to experience a wide variety of agricultural activities, outside of quiet hours of course. Born out of a dream that started 10 years ago when I acquired 40 acres of forgotten and unmanaged rural woods. Having dug right in with the help of the Florida Forestry Service, FWC, IFAS, NRCS and a very knowledgeable private forester; we developed a conservation management plan to restore it to its native state. The neighboring land became available and happily added another 40, I've learned so much on this amazing journey. 25K pines and a great deal of sweat equity later, it is time to share and encourage others to join in on the conservation efforts and make sure it's around for future generations.
