The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. Really great location close to the beach and grocery stores and restaurants, yet it is still in a quiet place just off the beaten path. Roxie is a wonderful host who met us upon arrival and departure to make sure all was going well. She even gave us some amazing fresh eggs from her chickens that roam freely on the land. (Be prepared for a lot of rooster crowing EARLY in the mornings). Our campsite was level and had water and electric. It was not too close to the other campers who were there and we had plenty of privacy. Star gazing was awesome! Highly recommend."

Originally a girls' camp, this property is rural, yet close to attractions (about 2 hours drive to Orlando and an hour to St. Augustine and Daytona Beach). It is approximately 9 acres, some of which is wetland/hummock, some lakefront (fronting on 2 lakes), some wooded (formerly orange groves) as well as meadow on the largest hill. RV camp site are the second and third photos. It is flat area near the front of the property, with a fire area coming soon. The largest lake is over the hill and is easily accessed via the driveway. Tent camping is available on the hill facing the lake. Bonus is it is near to the lake side firepit!

A perfect spot for us to land after being chased by winter weather all the way from Vermont. Jeff and Wendy are terrific hosts and we are grateful for our time at the Happy Hideaway. The site had plenty of room for our 35' TT with electric and water nearby. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The short drive to Anastasia Island was easy.

So serene and pleasant, the host and resident doggy were great!! We had fun relaxing in this spacious site, the walk to convenience stores was super light and we appreciated the boat launch just across the street! I didn't realize exactly how close we'd be to a stunning dock for enjoying morning journaling or sunset paddling on the calm Lake Ida. We felt safe here, the neighborhood seemed welcoming and there were plenty of dogs to meet on our walks! Thanks again!

Excellent slice of Paradise ❤️ If you are traveling through Florida this is one of the most Beautiful amazing places you will find and you will have the place All to yourself! Julene treats you like family and the property is absolutely serine and peaceful so plan on sleeping in and maybe staying an extra day! We did! Our 40 ft Class A pulled right into the large level pad , plugged into 50 amp service with water hooked up and done! 5G cell T-Mobile i watched SEC football all Thanksgiving Weekend !!! Does it get better! Only the Moonlight through the Tall Pines on Julenes farm 😎 less than a mile off US1 this is the best kept secret in Florida 🤩 FIVE STARS!!!! Highly Recommend!!

We had a great stay at Jeff's place. It was a peaceful spot with plenty of wood for a fire. Jeff was very welcoming and friendly. Even gave us a information packet with things to do and important numbers which was very thoughtful. Next time we are passing through we will definitely stay there again.

The Ohm Sweet Ohm yurt at Runaway Bay Lodge has high sides so that all the interior space is useable.

I truly enjoyed my second retreat at Whispering Oaks Lakeside Sanctuary. The landscape is picturesque. It's quiet, tranquil, scenic, and peaceful, making it a perfect escape. Each morning, I was treated to breathtaking sunrises over the pond, which made every day special. I loved watching two young deer arrive daily, gently drinking water and playfully frolicking around the pond, adding a touch of nature’s charm. I also had a wonderful time cooking a meal at the fire pit. Electricity was provided with an extension cord giving me the conveniences that I needed in the van. The availability of running water and a nearby trash receptacle made the stay even more comfortable. Interlachen, a charming small town, offered a few nearby essentials: a small grocery store called Hitchcock's, a Post Office, a General Dollar store, and a CVS. Overall, Whispering Oaks Lakeside Sanctuary is a truly delightful place to unwind and enjoy a peaceful retreat. Erica, the hostess, is delightful and knowledgeable. She can offer a variety of recommendations for things to do or places to dine nearby. I appreciated her hospitality.
