Beach camping near St Augustine guide

Overview

About 40 miles south of Jacksonville along Florida’s northeastern coast, St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in the US. Its Atlantic Ocean beaches are among its biggest draws for campers, especially during the hot and humid summers. Crescent Beach boasts remarkably fine and soft white sand as well as covered picnic tables and public restrooms for day-trippers. Look for nesting sea turtles from May to October, while staying mindful of any local restrictions. Lifeguards are typically on duty along various stretches of beaches in and near St. Augustine. The area offers great opportunities for a variety of water sports, including kayak and paddleboard rentals. It’s one of the best spots in Florida for fishing, inviting anglers to hook trout, flounder, and redfish year-round. Anastasia State Park offers beachfront campsites for both tents and RVs, all of which have water and electricity, fire rings, and in-ground grills. Cook up freshly caught fish, and enjoy an oceanside meal in one of the park’s many picnic areas.
