About the Island:
Ever wonder what it would be like to stay on a deserted island? This is truly an adventure you will never forget. Once you land in paradise you will wander thru the looping trail system to find your campsite. There are (5) campsites with elevated tent platforms tucked back in the trees. Once you are settled in, it is time to gather wood and build a fire in one of the (2) 8 foot wide, 2 ton concrete fire pits.
Awake a dawn with a nice kayak/canoe trip on a secluded water trail thru mangrove islands and stop for lunch at River's Edge Bar and Grill across the river from the island. Having too much fun, take a nap in hammock and rock to breeze and sounds of river.
This is an island is accessible via water only so there is some preparation to get here and stay here. Kayaks, Canoes and a shuttle are available if you don't have your own transportation.

Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants.
This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers.
From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting.
We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

Cedarkirk was founded in 1971 as a year-round camp and conference center that serves churches, not-for-profits, and schools. Our beautiful property and amenities exist for all people to enjoy recreation and renewal in nature. We own 170 acres of land, most of which looks like wild Florida has for thousands of years, and provides sanctuary for many native plants and animals. Privacy and country comforts, yet 3 miles from the I-75 exit. Grocery and restaurants nearby as well. There is a stable and 2 cross-fenced paddocks for grazing. An RV site with 30A power and water hookup, but no restroom available fo the RV site. A one room cabin with a queen bed is available with a separate full bathroom. Come visit our friendly donkey (Henry) and Scottish Highland cow (Wallace). You will hear roosters, braying and some mooing early in the morning. The Withlacoochee Trail is a mile east at the end of the road. This is a biking, hiking and equestrian trail. Florida Classic Park is roughly 2 miles north on Lockhart. The Croom Recreational Area is also 3 miles away.
If you are traveling with farm animals, we do have (2) 2-acre cross-fenced paddocks available for an additional fee. We also have a stable available, but that does have a concrete floor with mats. Please reach out to us directly in this regard.

This is a beautiful mixture of open & forested ares with many places to go to locally.

Weekend Trip to Smokey Acres
The cabin was cute and fit my needs, mostly. Plenty of space, working AC. Very cute and I felt very safe. The road to the property wasn’t in great shape but I can understand how that can change depending on the weather. If you have a lower clearance vehicle like I do, you might not want to drive it down the road. It rained pretty hard while I was there and it was a very dicey drive out. Quiet property. Happy to have a bathroom. Sad that the hot water wasn’t working but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. The pull-out bed in the cabin was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever slept on. I regretted not bringing my camping mattress.

Lorelei's Community of Consciousness was a wonderful escape from the normality of life, and is conveniently located a short distance from my home in Tampa, making for a relaxing time with a handful of friends. Would certainly recommend it and hope to check out an upcoming event.

Nice property, sites are spaced out and not crowded. Saw a mix of both tent and rv campers. Nice walking trail around the property and a stocked pond. Plenty of wildlife around.

This is a great spot for a good price. I’ve stayed here twice now and would stay again.
Some of the amenities were not there this time, but it was out of the host’s control. There was no hot water for the shower, but they allowed us to take a cold one. The county had a fire ban so we couldn’t use the fire pit that is provided. This time there were some people in a house nearby who were very loud at night, which was distracting from the peace of the outdoors.
The place is in a good location for a rural camping area. The primitive sites are secluded enough that it feels like you are immersed in the woods. There is a toilet, shower, and sink on site, which is nice to have. It’s a beautiful location that is well maintained. I would definitely visit a third time and would recommend to anyone who wants the outdoor camping experience with few neighboring campsites and access to a restroom and shower.

We are repeat campers here. We love the country farm feel. Our dogs love the 2 acres of fenced in area to run. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The only downfall is there’s no bathrooms or dump station so you have to bring it home with you.

We had fun camping at Smokey Acres! The platform for our tent was awesome as it rained while we were there. We had a little bit of a rough weekend but it wasnt hilary's fault. (Rain, broken water heater, loud neighbors partying late) I will say you can hear the road quite loudly from our site, but that didn't bother us to much. We had sandhill cranes land on the property our last morning there which was awesome! The shower could use an update as it was a little bit scary looking but it got us clean so we didn't mind to much. It may dissuade some people though. The driveway was also a little rough but our car could handle it! Overall we had a great time on the property!!

Dan’s communication and directions were spot on and just what I needed for a quick work trip in Brooksville. There’s a large level field west of the driveway, and a neighbor’s mobile home closer to the main road blocks out any road noise (if there was any). If you’re a self-contained boondocker passing through or with things to do in Brooksville/Spring Hill, stop at Red Wolf Ranch. I’ll be back.

Upon arrival we were welcomed and situated by Dona's mother. The 2 bedroom Florida Breeze Barndomion, was very clean fully furnished and had homey atmosphere. The screened in porch was a nice bonus., we stayed 3 days. The property is beautiful your surrounded by several different animals, our direct neighbors were horses , a pig, sheep, ram and the coolest deer I ever seen. A beautiful peacock that walks around so gratefully, it took my breath away. There is so much more to see, just schedule a tour with Dona and you will be able to visit other animals on the farm (animal sanctuary) Also it is a domestic animal friendly place too, we had our dog and cat with us, they settled in quite nicely. Plenty of space to walk your dog. Thank you Dona for making our stay very pleasant.

This was such a wonderful stay! This property is so peaceful and beautiful that it gave me some much needed rejuvenation. The farm critters are very cute and and added a nice layer of fun to my stay. I used the RV spot which had power and water easily accessible as well as a nice picnic table, firepit and chairs. I walked past the cabin area which was so cute. There is a nice trail on property which was the perfect wind down and bit of movement after hours sitting behind the wheel, my doggo much appreciated the exercise and sniffs as well.The hosts are very nice people and made me feel welcome, immediately. This hipcamp will become my go-to stop while in the area, for sure. A+, 5 stars, all the things!
