You can rent a kayak or a canoe to go out and see dolphins, turtles, alligators, manatees, snakes, deer, various birds or even bears. Other springs in the area are Hunters Springs, Rogers Park and Three Sisters springs. Crystal River is a charming, historical town 25 minutes north. You’ll pass Homosassa and their State Park (the oldest Hippo Lu (65) lives here). At the waterfront restaurant ‘Crumps’ you can watch monkeys on an island! Dames Cave in Lecanto is about 17 minutes from here with multiple caves to explore. The famous Weeki Wachee Springs State park is a 15 minute drive south highway 19. Howard’s Flea Market is the largest in Citrus County, 10 minutes north from the camp site. ‚Adventure Flg X’ is a fun Zip Line park in Brooksville. Rainbow River Springs is an hour north from Twin Pines. The park has beautiful scenic trails and a water temperature of 72 degrees year round which invites you to explore the river in a tube or kayak. The Weeki Wachee preserve is another beautiful, close spot worth visiting. Disney World, Legoland and Universal Studios are within two hours. St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa and Tarpon Springs are must-see cities! Beaches: Pine Island, Fort Island, Sunwest Park Beach. Further away: Madeira Beach, Honeymoon Island & Fort DeSoto. Diane and Chris's property was perfect. The property itself is beautiful and nicely tucked away for some peace and quiet while still being very convenient to normal amenities and the special aspects of the Homosassa and Crystal River area. Our dogs had lots of space to roam and were particularly fond of Diane. Diane and Chris were both extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had whatever we needed. Diane is such a kind soul; she made excellent recommendations for the area and continually offered us amenities and help. One of our dogs got sick and she even kept checking in on her the rest of our stay. By far a favorite spot and favorite hosts for us.

Great camping spot! If you follow The Crossroads on Facebook you can see what events are happening. There is plenty of space across the property. Rv spots are large and a few with full hookups. Several with just water and power and plenty for tent camping. The whole property is impressive with tons to do. Frank and everyone else out there are super welcoming. We will be back for sure. I loved tent camping on Arcadios land! The stars were in clear view which was so beautiful and he was so accommodating! It was so peaceful out there and waking up to the rooster crows was so nice! We got to watch hocus pocus on the projector screen while laying out on a blanket by the fire and that alone was such an experience I’ll never forget! This camp ground is also close to the springs which makes the drive super easy and short! Will definitely stay here again! Amazing host!

Weekend Trip to Happy Campers Rescue Ranch
Sandy Stars 2 was a hit once again. We saw tons of shooting stars the first night and loved movie night on the projector screen. We spent our days exploring the coast at Crystal River and paddling down Rainbow River. Both are an easy 15-20 minute drive from the campground. The animals were fun to interact with, neighboring campers were friendly, and host was upbeat and accommodating. Wilbur the pig is a great ambassador to the campground and honestly I would come back just to spend time with him. Overall 10/10 experience, this place is on my all time favorites for Florida camp sites. Thanks again to Arcadio and his family for another wonderful weekend!

We had a wonderful time at Camp 4A! The property is beautiful — peaceful, private, and surrounded by wildlife. We saw so many deer and wild turkey throughout the neighborhood! Mike was an excellent host, very responsive and helpful before and during our stay. Our only downside was that the dock was broken during our visit and the riverbank was mostly slick limestone, which made it tough to get in and out for swimming. However, there’s a gorgeous park less than a ten-minute walk away where you can access the river easily for a dip! Firewood available onsite for a reasonable price was also a bonus!
