Judith was very kind and accommodating. The bunk house was set up very nicely. The view was great we even got to see a Sandhill crane family with a chick! All in all had a great stay.

Whispering Oaks Lakeside Sanctuary lives up to its name. It is picturesque, colorful, calming, and quiet. Take notice of the trees, the grass, the blue sky, the clouds, the moon, the plants, the flowers, the owls, the hawks, and the variety of other birds, the squirrels, the roosters, and the clear water. Bring wood for the fire and gaze across the water or the stars at night. Erica is a friendly, personable, and helpful host. Her dog is, too. The space and the accommodations were perfect for me. Having electricity was a bonus. There is plenty of space. It is so quiet during the day and night. I plan to visit again.

This place was exactly what I needed! First time solo camping and felt completely safe and comfortable. This was such a great place to unwind and relax! I camped lakefront on this beautiful lake, which offered peaceful kayaking and wildlife. The camping area was clean, well maintained, and exactly as advertised. I plan to return again soon! No complaints at all!

We totally enjoyed our stay at Lofton Creek! It's a beautiful quiet setting. We felt like we were camping in the woods. The hosts were wonderful, too. They gave us a lot of suggestions for restaurants and things to do.

What a cool place this is to camp. Riverside canoe/kayak access, multiple fire pits, swings, and all sorts of fun stuff to play with. Easy to find, very hospitable hosts. We will definitely be back.

2 nights at La Quinta Bonita Homestead

Kelley & Vic were very hospitable to us; we enjoyed the tour of their property, as well as the homemade bread and eggs we were able to purchase from their homestead. They also had great recommendations for us regarding nearby outdoor recreation areas. We thoroughly enjoyed Ravine Gardens State Park and visiting Angels Diner in Palatka. We comfortably fit two adults in the camper, and we’re grateful that the other adult who came with us had an in-car camping set up. It would have been very, very tight had all three of us needed to fit in the camper. We’d recommended no more than two for the camper. Camper did have a neat cooler/fridge inside that was spacious! The outdoor shower was amazing - all three of us absolutely loved it! And the fact that warm water was accessible was a win. The water got up to about 88 degrees or so. The compostable toilet was inside a small tent and cleaned daily. It felt slightly on display just with how close it was to the fire pit, but was convenient and easy to access. The fire pit was the perfect size, and tons of wood was supplied ($10/night). Our favorite part was hanging out around the fire pit during the evenings under the stars. TONS of stars, and beautiful wind blowing through the trees. Lots of fun animal sounds too! If you plan to cook over the fire, be sure to bring your own tools and equipment. All in all, great experience! We’d go again and are looking forward to seeing how Kelley and Vic continue to grow their homestead!

Enjoyed camping at Tim’s farm - site 5. He was very accommodating of our late check-in and was very responsive despite being out of town. Fell asleep to a big, beautiful, almost-full moon and the sound of frogs and waterfowl in the pond. Sunrise was lovely.

HipCamp listings provided by an experienced, highly rated Host on other lodgings platforms, and fellow van-life traveler. Lakefront property is located in between Hawthorne and Interlachen out in the wooded countryside (decidedly rural) on a dead-end road as it turns to dirt -- usually very peaceful and quiet. Central location serves as a good base camp for day trips to the ocean beaches at either the Atlantic or the Gulf Coast, the manatees at various springs, or Ocala horse country. Variety of shops and restaurants are located in Gainesville to the west or Palatka to the east, both an easy drive on S.R. 20. BOONDOCKING SITE: Must be self-contained and leave no trace. Accepting only one camping guest vehicle at a time. The homeowner property is fenced with drive-through wing gates, host will greet you upon arrival so you can choose your spot either in the shade or in the sun or somewhat in between as the sandy ground slopes gently to the private lake. Best for vans, SUVs, or those with car and tent. Please inquire regarding compact RVs -- due to overhanging branches of oak shade trees, and limited size of the 0..66 acre lot, cannot accommodate large RVs or travel trailers.
