Weekend Trip to Sand Between Your Toes

This was a great spot, close to everything the world’s most beautiful beaches has to offer, yet far enough away to have a nice peaceful rest. Brian was very kind and quick to respond to any questions that we had. Host provided and nice little book with everything you needed to know about the property as well as restaurant recommendations along with menus. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Wildcat Creek Educational Ctr

We had a wonderful time! Mr. Bill offered us several spots to pitch our tent and we chose right next to the creek so we could hear the water through the night. And it was fabulous. We heard Chuck-Wills-Widows singing along with the creek cooing while we relaxed by the fire. It was a short walk to the bathroom but it was worth it. Mr. Bill was friendly but respectful of our time and space. He offered us a tour and coffee and we were happy to hang out and learn from him. His property is eclectic but for conservationists like us it is a delight! We will visit again for sure. I would recommend bringing extra lights to hang on the trees, we had a few and it was super helpful finding our way in the dark.

This is our fourth year visiting The Bay Getaway. Our grandchildren love coming each year to kayak, catch little crabs in the shallows, climb up onto the treehouse, and run and play on the huge lawn. We love the birdwatching, the beautiful sunsets, the quiet, and the privacy of this spot to give us a safe environment for visiting with our grandkids. Love this place!

The campground was very clean and well maintained. From our spot (17) we could see the bay on the drivers side. There is a nice playground with a large wooden ship and swings next to a dog park. These are located at the back of the campground away from the road. The pool was lovely and there was a large covered area with nice chairs and several things to warm with if it became cold. The bathrooms were large and well maintained. There is a launderette if you need it. The staff was patient and attentive. When I arrived my picnic table was missing and within 30 minutes I had a table. St. Joe proper is 3 minutes away and the public beach is 4 minutes away. I would definitely stay here again.

I loved staying at 30A Hideaway Retreat & already miss being there. It is secluded & private, right on the bayou to enjoy gorgeous sunsets, use the kayaks/paddle boards to get out on the water or go fishing off the dock. I saw a dolphin swimming right off of the dock along with pelicans, egrets & grey herons flying, feeding & hanging around. It is also close enough to eat out at fun restaurants, go shopping & relax on the white sandy beaches & swim in the turquoise ocean. I took a great bike ride on the Timpoochee Trail, an 18-mile beautiful, paved trail that runs along South Walton’s Scenic 30A, through colorful, picturesque beachside towns & along several rare & captivating dune lakes. This idyllic property is the perfect camping vacation retreat ~ I highly recommend it!

I didn’t get a chance to use the fire ring and the Nice umbrella/table and chairs available for guests. But there’s always next time…! His property is minutes from some of the best beaches in the country…!

Bill, the host and owner of the property, embodies good vibes and hospitality. Made us feel right at home and exchanged wonderful stories about life and the world. There’s so much character, intrigue, and nature to enjoy at the site, which includes a swimming creek, quality restroom facilities, school buses, a nice kitchen, gathering area, and a few rustic structure great for sleeping. Our one night tent camping in wildcat is an experience I’ll always treasure and i hope to be back soon.

This is what we want to offer you, a 2.5 acres of raw nature where you can relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the best that water and nature have to offer in Northwest Florida. You will be staying in a historic 32 ft 1954 New Moon trailer, the exact copy of the one in the movie The Long Long Trailer with Lucille Ball. Nothing less ! And don't forget to bring your kayaks, paddle boards, bikes and hiking shoes as there is a lot to do around here. Let's start with your accommodation: THE LONG LONG TRAILER If you ever wanted to stay in a vintage camper with a history, then this is it. You will be staying in a 32 ft 1954 New Moon trailer. The previous owner bought it in California and claimed it was one of the trailers used in the movie with Lucille Ball called The Long Long Trailer. We like to believe that we own a piece of American culture. The camper has water (cold only), electricity and a split ac unit. It has been partially renovated to keep the original feel and features as much as possible. It's an old lady that survived time, so we ask that you take good care of her as well to continue the legacy. BATHROOM - TOILET Inside the camper, there is a small bathroom with a sink, a small tub, and a toilet but for number ones only. For hot showers and number two's you will have access to a separate shared bathroom with an indoor toilet and a spacious enclosed outdoor shower. (See pictures) BEDROOM - BEDDING We just replaced the mattress with a brand new queen size memory foam mattress. So far everybody likes it. We only use cotton sheets for best comfort. There are 2 nightstands on each side of the bed with lamps and cellphone charger plugs. The bedroom has its own entrance door and a room divider can provide privacy from the rest of the camper. KITCHEN - APPLIANCES A comfortable kitchen area with a large sink and lots of cabinets. It's equipped with a microwave oven, toaster oven, hot water kettle and a gas stove. We also provide basic cookware, bowls and plates. Basic seasoning (good quality foods, always), paper towels, dish towels, sponges, dish soap. The cherry on the cake is the original 1954 fridge that is still working great. CLOSET A 2-door closet with hangers and a shelf and 3 storage compartments above the bed offer plenty of space for your clothing. CLEANING STUFF Basic cleaning products and gears are at your disposal inside the camper. We privilege non harsh chemical products to preserve human, animal and plant well-being. OUTDOOR SPACE In front of the camper you will find your own private area to chill out after a day of leisure in nature. You have a small table and 2 chairs as well as 2 comfortable armchairs. An umbrella is also provided. YARD - FIRE PIT We are still working on developing the property. Many parts are still undeveloped but every day we improve something. We have set up a fire pit with some lounge chairs around that you are welcome to enjoy when permitted by county regulations. HOT TUB AND LOUNGE AREA We just finished setting up the hot tub which is now ready to be enjoyed for an extra fee. Since it's an old model, and it is solar heated, you would have to tell us in advance the time you want to use it and we'll set it up at the right temperature for you. We allow one use per day for one hour. We have also an area with 2 lounge chairs if you want to soak in the sun during the day. PROPERTY ACCESS; We live in a very rural area that you can only access by a dirt road. The roads are well maintained and regular 2WD cars are fine. If you come from I-10 / Chipley via 77, count about 3 minutes of dirt road. If you come from CR20, it's about 10 minutes of dirt road. SPRING-FED LAKE Our property is located on the biggest spring-fed lake in Northwest Florida - Porter Lake. We do not have a view of the lake but we are less than 2 minutes away from the boat ramp where you can swim, launch your kayaks/canoes/paddle boards, and of course your motor boat as well. Many other lakes are very close by, just minutes away. If you like fishing, then you found your perfect haven spot. GORGEOUS EMERALD SPRINGS We are just less than 10 minutes away from 5 of the most beautiful cold water springs on the famous Econfina creek. Each site offers a parking area, picnic settings and easy access to the springs. You can swim there and also launch your own kayaks or rent them on site. YOUR NEIGHBORS We live in a camper on the same property about 20 yards distant from the New Moon trailer. But you will have all the privacy you need. We also have a few full time neighbors around the property, the rest of the lake community are family vacation homes. It means that outside the holidays it is a pretty quiet neighborhood. My wife and I stayed on this very spot in January 2020 and fell in LOVE with it! Being relative newbies to RVing, we wanted something private but also wanted a beach front vacation without spending 5K for a house. So, we decided to start searching. Turns out, there isn't a whole lot of RV hookup spots right on the beach. But, we ran across this lovely privately owned gulf front lot on Cape San Blas in Florida and stayed for a week that January. We loved it so much we tried to book it again in May of that year, but it was of course booked the entire month. So, we booked another spot and headed to the cape in May anyway. We wanted to see our favorite spot again, so we drove by one day and low and behold, it was for sale. We couldn't pass up an opportunity to own something we fell in love with so quickly, so we took the jump, and bought it! And now, we can share it with all of you. Treat yourself to a beach front vacation in your own "home" and enjoy the journey friends. You only live once! GULF FRONT! Yes, you have your own path directly to the beach along with outdoor shower to rinse of your day on the sand and then enjoy the grill and picnic area for your afternoon dinner with your group. This 1/2 acre private property gulf front and equipped with 30/50 amp service, water, sewer, trash pickup, an outdoor patio, grill and misting outdoor shower. Just bring your swimming suits you'll be set. Cape San Blas, FL is one of the most beautiful and laid back places you will visit. This property is located on Cape San Blas and is right on the water (gulf side). The cape bike path you can take all the way to the state park and explore the entire cape and all it has to offer (22 mile round trip bike path). Also, check out kayaking in the bay or horse-back riding on the beach! Salinas Park is just a stone's throw where you can enjoy picnics with the family walk out to the bay or even drive onto the beach (permit required). The sleepy little towns of Port St. Joe and Appalachicola have so many great local restaurants and shops and you will love the laid back chill of these old Florida towns. If you've never taken your crew and camped right on the beach, then this is the place for you.
