Don't be surprised if you see a monkey or two in the trees... The fishing is amazing in these parts, so if you are an angler, come and visit. We have .75 miles of frontage on the Orange Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature. Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Just go a little bit further until you see the sign for Camp Seminole Spring. Bring bug spray and sun screen. If you need something, don't worry! There is a Dollar General, a gas station and a small cafe within walking distance. We have 38 acres of camping sites nature trails for hiking and mountain biking. Guests can park right on their site, or they have the option of parking and hiking into the woods to set up their site a bit more remote and off the beaten path. This is rustic camping. We have a bathhouse located at the campsites with showers. The bathhouse at the Great Lodge hereas we do have garbage cans, we prefer that anything you bring into the property, you bring out with you. We allow campfires. Don't be surprised if you see a monkey or two in the trees... The fishing is amazing in these parts, so if you are an angler, come and visit. We have .75 miles of frontage on the Orange Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature. Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Ocala, the ‘horse capital of the world’ showcases a brand new multi-billion-dollar equestrian center which draws people from all over the world. This scenic property has an artesian spring which pushes out 1.6 million gallons of water per day rated among the top three percent of water in the world with an 8.4 natural pH. This water fills the pond and then continues on to flow into Orange Creek. Camp Seminole Springs was established in the 1940’s as a honeymoon resort and campground. The founders built a heart-shaped ‘pond-spring’ which is filled with the crystal-clear water pushed out from the spring where guests can lounge by the beach or gaze down into the bottom through the glass-like water or take a refreshing swim. Loved camping here! The amenities are good, I’ve definitely seen worse, you have lots of space on your sight, and friendly staff! Keep in mind, you aren’t on a spring, and the closest one is 20 minutes (didn’t mind that at all), and make sure you get directions from google, sent us to the wrong location from directions given on Hipcamp. Would definitely come back to camp again!

The land is perfect for country cottage vibes. Collecting fresh eggs from the Hens every morning was a bonus. The cottage my husband and I rented was adorable, quaint, immaculate, had All kinds of appliances fully equipped and decorated kitchen necessities, toiletries, nick nacks, firewood and the s’mores kit was awesome! I especially enjoyed the birthday welcome note /card and tokens for our stay! Cassandra and Walt came by to greet us for our stay and we’re wonderful hosts. We plan on renting each unit until we make it around the property! What I enjoyed about our stay is it’s close to our home but far enough to feel like a hidden gem . We had a little glamping, camping and rustic tranquil vibes. The outdoor shower was so peaceful after going for a walk /run near the wood trails. We enjoyed every moment of our stay.

Very nice setup. Close to the springs, restaurants and shopping if needed. Dock area is very nice. Comfy chairs and a table. The water is crystal clear so you can see all of the varieties of fish. Didn’t see any manatees at this spot as the weather is warming up. Kayaks and paddle boards are available and in good shape. The site itself is large with a nice table setup, solo fireplace and hookups. Site is level which is nice. Only met Alonda once as we pulled in but we had no issues so there was no need to bother her. The resident dog Jazzie, was friendly with my dog and she was very sweet. Excellent experience overall.

Loved every thing about this spot- serenity quiet & peaceful neighborhood, only a few steps to great paddling on the springs with a dock for our use, Homosassa River and manatees galore! Easy bike ride to Old Homasassa, close to grocery store, Walmart and great seafood market! Our host, Alonda was accessible and polite!

Our campsite is private and nestled in what one camper described as "the Florida Jungle".

We had such a wonderful time at Kate’s campsite. Highlights: easy to find. Shore power was easy to hook up too. Fire wood available for a small fee. It felt private. The springs were absolutely amazing. We saw manatees ❤️. Please note they do not have a bathroom. We were camping in a small van, and used a portable toilet set up. The space was private enough that we felt comfortable using it outside the van and without a tent. I really hope we get to return to Kate’s space.

The, area was very quiet. We really enjoyed it. Felt very much like the Florida that you don’t see when you’re a tourist. Large trees, hanging moss lots of foliage. The lot was level, had everything for hookups. Remember to bring your 50 to 30 amp reducer. The water was clear, we used the kayak and went for a beautiful day on the water.

We had an amazing weekend at this Hipcamp. Kate was the absolute best—super communicative and helpful from start to finish. The site was exactly as expected: private, jungle-like, and a great place to unwind. We had fun exploring the property and finding Pepper Trail, which was a nice bonus. The highlight of the trip was kayaking with the manatees—an unforgettable experience. One note for RVers: if your rig (or Travel Trailer) is longer than 25 feet, you may need to back in from the road. Our truck couldn’t quite make the turn, but backing in was easy and not an issue at all. Overall, a fantastic stay. We’d absolutely come back again.

This my second time staying here and will definitely not be my last. My wife, two teenage children and two dogs loved every minute of our stay. The weather didn't cooperate on Sunday, cold and rainy, but the campers were clean and warm and we spent hours just playing card. The hospitality from our hosts was outstanding, they even delivered dry wood after the rain. We will all definitely come back.

Where to go

Leesburg Area

Leesburg has docks, boat launches, and fishing access to both Lake Griffin and Lake Harris. Both Leesburg and nearby Tavares offer RV travelers a variety of RV parks and RV resorts with full hookups and wifi to choose from.

Lake Griffin State Park

Lake Griffin State Park is just 10 minutes north of downtown Leesburg. This tranquil park offers kayak and canoe rentals and boat tours on Lake Griffin. There’s a 2-mile sandhill and swamp trail here, plus a 400-year-old live oak tree that sits at the park entrance. Book a spot at the campground for an RV or a tent—both come with picnic tables, fire pits, and restrooms.

Lake Louisa State Park

For an even more immersive lake park, head 40 minutes south of Leesburg to Lake Louisa State Park. In addition to six lakes, this 4,500-acre park has seven miles of paved trails and 20 miles of multi-use trails through hilly terrain. When to go

Each spring, Leesburg fills up for Bikefest, a 3-day music festival and motorcycle rally. Otherwise, the area is busiest in winter and on weekends. You can enjoy outdoor activities in Leesburg’s subtropical climate year-round, but summer tent camping can be a challenge due to high temperatures, humidity, and rainfall. Summer travelers may be happiest in lodging or RVs with climate control.
