This is a wonderful "Forgotten Coast" region of the Florida panhandle with so much to see and do within minutes. This area took a direct hit from Hurricane Michael in 2018 and has worked hard at recovery, with so much rebuilding and growth over the last few years. Several feet from the cottage is a screened porch overlooking the scenic river, with plenty of comfortable seating and a daybed... should you want to nap. From this location It's not uncommon to see wildlife. A wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening bug free. Take a swing on the open porch, sit riverside at either our propane fire pit or have a campfire (firewood provided) which is also along the river nestled in the woods. We encourage guests to use the outdoor seating areas for the ultimate relaxation experience and to find your favorite spot! Bar-B-Q with our easy-to-use propane grill (utensils and grill pans provided). Our fish station makes cleaning your catch a breeze! Also available a full-size fridge located on the screened porch in addition to the mini fridge in the cottage. Guest access Large open deck with ladder access to the floating dock which is perfect for mooring your boat or launching kayaks. Kayaks are available for guest use. Provided are (2) single person (1) fishing single person and (1) two-person tandem kayaks with life vest. We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank. A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay. Other things to note: House rules for children staying at the cottage. We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage. We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. Leila’s spot was great. We loved that it was only a block from the beach. The shed storage and laundry machine was helpful- especially because of the humidity and moisture over night. It was hard to get clothing dry without a dryer. (We used a laundromat in town) The black tank hook up was not threaded to secure a connection but it still worked. Red tide was high while we were there. Overall it was a beautiful spot just steps away from a beautiful dog friendly beach. We loved the location and so did our pets. Would recommend!

What a beautiful, peaceful welcoming place & Host. We were greated by Sasha, Max a little princess. William came out and chatted with us and showed us all around his beautiful property. Full hookups, a beautiful Bathroom & Shower and washer and dryer area along with table. We had a nice picnic table and a big fire ring which we did use. William has beautiful fruit trees and a garden with chickens.. so cute. The fruit was delicious. We enjoyed cheese & crackers and drinks with William around the campfire and wonderful conversation. Very quiet and the pine trees were so pretty. We wish we could have stayed longer and in the future we will. This was one of our favorite places to stay. A must visit place. :)

I've stayed here twice now and I will say under the new management it is a complete 180 from last time. The park is actually kept up with. They were having a farmers market when we showed up. It is super quiet and priced fair. Only issue is they double booked my spot but they had it taken care of within minutes.

This site is very clean & well maintained. Good signage, easy to find, great hookups. Will was very welcoming. We were in a bind because we had generator issues that slowed our trip down & the Hipcamp we had reserved said they would not accept us. Will had no problem with a late check in & had the light on for us upon arrival at 11:30pm! Also great communication with host. Spot was very peaceful & quiet. We were only passing through but definitely a place to come back and just hang out because it's easy to get to & so nice. Will definitely go back! Thanks Will!

We loved the private site, right on the water! The empty lots on either side provided real privacy. The amenities provided were very much appreciated, especially the outdoor shower, which help limit the amount of sand we and our pup brought into our motorhome. We had the beautiful beach practically to ourselves over our entire three nights. We will definitely be back again!

The pet-friendly beach made it nice to enjoy the sunny days with our dog. It’s only a mile from the general store and 15-20 minutes from restaurants in Port St Joe. We will definitely be back!

However, nothing truly compares to parking just a few feet from the water, with 100 yards of pristine beach to yourself! This was our second stay at Escape to the Cape, and it will not be our last. A truly breathtaking location! If you have a class A, bring extensions for your electric and sewer and park facing the water. The view out the windshield is magnificent!
