It was populated by hardy, adventurous folks who made a way for themselves and their families by clearing a spot along the river, building a home and forging a life in a new location. When NASA needed a perimeter zone for the newly emerging space program in the 1950s, the federal government purchased large swaths of land between Oak Hill and Titusville, FL. Residents were bought out and forced to move. Houses were relocated or demolished. Shiloh disappeared into history while the space age pushed forward into the future.However... some foundations still can be found in the woods not far away, if you know where to look. There are even cemeteries that remain, whispering the names of individuals and families.As a tribute to those early adventurers, we have named our place Camp Shiloh. We're proud of our oasis and thrilled to share it with folks that appreciate protected land as much as we do. This means that it is an ecosystem that supports the wildlife and cannot be touched or manipulated in any way. Lucy's place is our community space for you and your family's use. The gate is closed most of the time, please close it behind you if it was closed, and leave open if it was open. You are welcome to go directly to the site and set up however you like. It is most important to check in during the light of day as we are quite secluded and it can be very dark. Shiloh was the name of an early Florida town that was once located just down the road from our property. It was populated by hardy, adventurous folks who made a way for themselves and their families by clearing a spot along the river, building a home and forging a life in a new location. But Shiloh is now lost, literally removed from the maps. It no longer exists. When NASA needed a perimeter zone for the newly emerging space program in the 1950s, the federal government purchased large swaths of land between Oak Hill and Titusville, FL. Residents were bought out and forced to move. Houses were relocated or demolished. Shiloh disappeared into history while the space age pushed forward into the future.However... some foundations still can be found in the woods not far away, if you know where to look.
