2 nights at Yurt Farm Stay

I absolutely loved staying in Amy and Bill’s Yurt! The farm is delightful with horses, cows, goats, chickens and ducks. Amy and Bill were friendly and welcoming and gave me great recommendations in the area. The yurt is clean, the bed is super comfortable, the outhouse is clean and smells fresh like pine. There is a nice outdoor shower with hot water. They provided a cooler, you just have to get ice. A bbq and fire pit are available for you. Overall a fantastic stay, would definitely come again!

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

We loved camping at Upper Shire! The cabin was amazing. It was cozy and had all of the amenities that we needed and then some! It was well built and very cute. We definitely recommend taking the canoe out on the little pond. It was gorgeous. Joanna was extremely hospitable. We are definitely coming back.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved it !! Already planning on coming back. My girlfriend has never been camping and she had a great time . Very comfortable. Bill and Amy our hosts were awesome definitely made us feel at home showed us the animals and made sure we were settled in. Can't wait to go back !!

Weekend Trip to Hammock Hallows

It was an amazing place. Clean site with two places to set up tents. The wood fire hot tubs were amazing, really happy we were able to tend to them ourselves, rubber mats made it perfect. The hammock was the best hammock ever. Almost fell asleep in it one night because we put a blanket under and on top. One side was complete forest, felt like u were totally in the woods. The other side you could see the house. Was left alone unless we texted Andrea, who offered to help with anything, so that was great. They had barriers between so it wasn’t completely visible. The hot tubs were could also use more privacy. Felt a little awkward seeing people well trying to have a romantic soak, and I’d do it again. Overall a great place and I would recommend completely recommend to others.

We absolutely loved camping here! The lean-to’s are spacious and it was great to have the tent off the ground. Everything in the site was clean and well-equipped. So grateful to have firewood included in the reservation. The grounds were beautiful to explore and the host, Jesse, was so friendly and helpful. We would absolutely come back and bring friends next

5 nights at Mickelberry Forest Gardens

Easy to find and beautiful quiet setting. Hosts were very welcoming and even checked on my solar charging when it rained for a few days. Would love to come back. Outdoor sink convenient for cleaning up after dinner. Adjacent goats always good for a laugh.

Weekend Trip to Streamside Camping in Leverett!

Great camp site! The access was easy, and there was plenty of wood for the fire pit. The stream is truly beautiful. Most importantly, there is endless hiking either straight from the campsite or a short walk down the road.

Weekend Trip to Atland Artist Residency

Gorgeous, secluded, woodsy serenity! I loved the outdoor shower, easy communication, charming decoration and thoughtfully placed amenities throughout the cabin and surrounds. I look forward to visiting again soon, hopefully for a much longer stay.

Weekend Trip to Forest Hut in Western Mass

I loved staying at the kuti for a night! It was my first time camping totally solo and I felt very safe and secure at this spot. The land is beautiful, and I appreciated the things that were provided (picnic table, paper/matches for fire building). I got some awesome herbal products and eggs from the farm store. It was so quiet and peaceful at night. The composting privy was very neat and clean. It was perfect for a solo camp, and I could see it also being nice for a couple, parent-kiddo, or close friends. It felt spacious for just me but would definitely be tight quarters for more than 2 people. I’d love to come and stay again!

3 nights at Holiday Hill

I loved camping at Holiday Hill. The lean-tos provided a great place to set up and enjoy the first camp of the year. The camp is beautiful and the kids must love it. There is plenty to do and great hikes in the area. Jesse was super helpful but we had all the privacy needed. I will definitely be returning.

4 nights at Blueberry Orchard By The Pond

This was by far one of my favorite Hip Camps to date. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is it. I had rainy weather so my regular hikes were canceled, but there are so many paths and rural roads to walk on in the woods around there. It was so nice to just be able to walk in the woods , right from where I was camping. The host brought warm, freshly made sourdough bread just as I finished my set up. Delicious! It made great breakfast sandwiches all week with his chickens eggs. Great add ons. I got the honey for my friend and she absolutely loved it. Great communication. Cell service is iffy, which I enjoy- I was able to walk to the end of the road to pick up my messages and texts, along with looking up what the weather was going to do. The spot where you camp with a RV is close to the road, but I think I saw three cars the whole week I was there and the rocks and trees pretty much keep you private. I am very sensitive to noise, and this place really fit the bill for being quiet.

1 night at Blueberry Orchard By The Pond

We had a wonderful stay at John’s blueberry Orchard. Incredibly private and quaint. The campsite is tucked back into the woods away from the road by the little pond and the Orchard and Sugar shack created a very sweet and romantic atmosphere. John was incredibly kind and responsive to messages and the coffee, honey, and sourdough bread or to die for. Absolutely no trouble with wildlife whatsoever. With 100% stay here again.

Chris has been master carpenter and cabinet maker since the 1980’s. The two spend time keeping the grounds and gardens up and going out to dance. They love live music. The property is also the home to 3 cats. While physical check out of the tent is 10am, please ask if you would like to stay later. We can do a day rental of just the pool and gardens for an additional fee of $600 for parties of up to 20 people. For larger events, such as weddings, please contact us to discuss. Please ask if you would like to stay a little later than typical check out time. We often can accommodate. Please do NOT pick the fruits or veggies without asking as often things are not quite ripe yet. When things are ripe, we will try to put a bowl of fresh stuff out for you to choose from. Of course, it goes without saying, Please be considerate and clean up after yourselves. No smoking cigarettes or e-cigarette, vapes in the tent. If you need to bring a pet, they must be well-trained and not have an issue with cats or other dogs as we have 3 cats. Pets are NOT allowed to go to the bathroom on the lawn or in the gardens. They must either go in the woods or in the designated area for this. Please clean up after your pet if in the designated area. Ask us for how and where. We are located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, close to the Village of Rhinebeck and the Hudson River. There are many things to do within a half an hour of the campsite. Learn more about this land: A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Plenty of privacy with screens around the site. Within 15-20 minutes of our site is just about anything you could desire. Local restaurants, hiking, fishing, shopping, drive in movie and much much more. Rainy days no problem explore one of our nations pieces of history, Vanderbilt mansion, Theodore Roosevelt home, Montgomery Place Mansion, Poets walk, Ferncliff forest, or Art Omi. We are just a couple minutes down the road from Lake Taghkanic State Park where there are over 1500 acres of trails, a 157 acre lake with a beach, boat launch and boat rentals as well as the famous West Taghkanic Diner. 12 minutes to the heart of Hudson, NY and the many incredible restaurants, artisans, antique warehouse and general beauty. 25 minutes to The Berkshires and Catamount Mountain for winter guests who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. 25 minutes to Woodstock. 4 minutes to a 24-7 high end convenience store with groceries, gas and diesel as well as large super market across the intersection. Many farm stands along our main road to check out. Our beautiful old farm features 30 acres of fields and 40 acres of forest preserved for wildflowers and wildlife, a mere 3,000 feet from the Appalachian Trail. Located at the very top of the hill on a dead end road that terminates at the state forest, we are blessed with complete quiet, zero traffic, and no noisy neighbors.To ensure the ultimate in tranquility and privacy, we offer only a single campsite situated at the edge of an expanse of fields filled with wildflowers. You will never be disturbed by other campers because we only host a single group at a time.We maintain the property in such as a way as to provide maximum hospitality to local wildlife. Grasses in the fields are allowed to grow long, and the forest is kept relatively untouched, providing excellent habitats and food sources for ground-nesting birds. A dizzying array of circular pathways wind their way through the fields.On a recent birding walk with an expert from Audubon, we spotted at least twenty species of bird, including Grey Catbird, Eastern Towhee, Chestnut-sided Warbler, American Redstart, Red-eyed Vireo, Veery, Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat, Song Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Yellow Warbler, Purple Finch, Tufted Titmouse, Brown-headed Cowbird, Black-capped Chickadee, Bluebird, Black-and-white Warbler, Baltimore Oriole, Pileated Woodpecker, Tree Swallow, Red-shouldered Hawk, Eastern Phoebe, Mourning Dove and many others.Take a path through the woods to a dirt road that leads you straight to the Appalachian Trail (past a singularly ambitious beaver pond) and enjoy a day hike, or simply enjoy the stillness and the incredible variety of bird sounds. Spot the occasional coyote, bobcat, or bear in the quiet and watch the raptors circle overhead as they hunt rodents in the fields. Deer Mountain Farm is bordered by 3,500 acres of preserved State Forest land, teeming with birds, whitetail deer, coyotes, wild turkey, possums, occasional bears, bobcats -- just to name those creatures we spot regularly around the farm. The Appalachian Trail runs right through this stretch.At the bottom of our little mountain runs the Housatonic River, a very popular destination for fly-fishing and canoeing. Electric bikes can be rented in the nearby village of West Cornwall. Kent Falls is about 15 minutes down the road, also a great place for a day trip. Explore the area, then return to your secluded campsite to enjoy the sunset in a chorus of tree frogs and birdsong.The large swamp just down the hill through the woods is a very popular spot for passing birds and other wildlife. An Appalachian Trail campsite provides paths down to the water for bathing.Enjoy the bounty of outdoor activities the Northwest Corner has to offer, then enjoy the absolute peace and stillness of Deer Mountain Farm.The SiteOur single Hipcamp campsite is about 500 feet from the dead-end road, separated by a grove of sumac and a stone wall. Very private but only a short stroll from the main house where indoor facilities, including bathroom and shower, are provided exclusively for campers. As we are located at the top of a small mountain with consistent winds, directly bordered by the state forest, and our property consists largely of grasslands and forest, we do not allow traditional campfires on the site. However, we provide both a charcoal grill and a small firepit that may be used by campers, weather and aridity permitting.At Deer Mountain Farm, we live surrounded by wildlife and the beauty of nature and hope to share this magic with you.
