Horse ranch and nature conservation area. We have a pond you can float in and horses and mules who live here, as well as elk and pronghorn, and a bear. Dogs are welcome! We love dogs! Off leash is fine as long as they don’t chase the horses (and keep in mind that the mules do chase dogs). There is a gas firepit and a gas grill, sitting areas, a port a potty. There is a flat graded area for tents with a picnic table. We ask that there are no fires except for gas (we are still traumatized by the East Troublesome Fire that was 200,000 plus acres. We did not burn here and we’d like to keep it that way. We also ask that there is no loud music because this is the wild animals’ home first, and the antelope and elk have new babies. We are very close to Granby for the grocery store, restaurants, and the Granby Flying Heels Rodeo. We are nearby to the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake, Hot Sulfur Springs Resort, Lake Granby and Fraser/Winter Park and all that Grand County Colorado has to offer. Also close by is Granby Ranch for downhill mountain biking and golf. We are about two hours from Denver. If you want to camp but don’t want to be stuck in a crowded campground with noisy neighbors, we’d love to have you! I loved tent camping on Olliander’s land! It was quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful and unique home. The drive there and the drive out was a scenic experience through the mountains, which was a great addition. The chickens and rooster may wake you up in the morning, which was a benefit for me! They were cute and pretty friendly, Would highly recommend!

Olliander’s space was perfect for a quiet, peaceful weekend tent camping spot. They were very easy to communicate with, greeted me upon arrival, and lovely to chat with.
The space is well shaded and also has a large open clearing, has parking within 100’ of where I set up my tent, and is within 10 minutes of downtown Nederland and TONS of hiking trails.
I would highly recommend a stay at Olliander’s (and the fresh eggs from their chickens).

The view is magnificent, and it is what you are paying for. The host responds to questions quickly. I will caution as the site requires maneuvering 2 very tight hairpin switch backs to get to. I was pulling an off road pop up trailer with a tundra and had to get creative to make it up. Although page lists 30 ft vehicle, i would not attempt in one unless I was incredibly skilled at driving it.

The view was absolutely stunning and it felt private. The land was somewhat rocky so there were limited places for the tent. There was a fire pit, some chairs, and a trash can. Overall, we enjoyed it but I think it is a little overpriced for what you're getting. We would happily come back but not for $200/night.
We also had a somewhat difficult time finding the place. Google directed us to a spot that was too early on the road. You need to go past Schaffer Ranch and then continue until you see the signs for Vista Point on your right hand side (it's a decent amount farther from Schaffer Ranch). Jason was responsive to our lost messages!

Everything went well! Jason greeted us upon arrival and asked if there was any needs-- to our surprise there is already chairs..a picnic table...and grills ready to use. He has thought of everything. Travel to the site in daylight as you can miss signs easily when up in the mountain---we towed in our 16' trailered camper and that would be the max I would trust making some of the hairpin turns going up. This site is everything. A must visit. The stars are worth it alone.

Beautiful view!! Jason gave very clear directions and was friendly! We did reach a closed gate at the base of their property that wasn't expected from the directions so don't be alarmed if a sheriff patrol gate is closed when you arrive. We just opened and closed it behind us. Very quiet other than a worker driving up to our site not knowing we were there Sat morning. Jason is building a cabin and clearing some land currently down the hill from the site. Only matters to us bc we have rescue dogs with anxiety so we intentionally sought a quiet site. Innocent mistake but did impact our morning and breakfast cooking briefly. All this said, we'd definitely recommend this site for it's location and beautiful view!

Like a lot of experiences - as long as you know what you’re getting into and manage your expectations, you will have a pleasant stay.
Much of the “oasis” is a work in progress as things are getting cleaned up. Currently it looks like more of a graveyard than storage area for RVs and autos. But if you can look past that you will enjoy a beautiful view of the lake, purple lupine in the foreground and snow-capped mountains in the background. The entrance and site are hard packed gravel and each site has a small concrete pad. The water line is about 300 feet out, so if there used to be docks or a marina here it was with different water levels. Even though it sits right on the highway, it was very quiet at night and we were usually gone during the day.
Good communication from the host. He’s quick to respond and was flexible when we needed to adjust our travel dates.
The biggest pro is location, location, location. Close to Grand Lake and the west entrance to RMNP. Soak in Hot Sulphur Springs 20 minutes away. Granby and the main grocery store, City Market, is 15 minutes. Lots of boating options nearby.
We look forward to seeing what it looks like the next time we pass through!

Beautiful scenic road in. Seeing the rocks up close, rock climbers, tunnels. Feels like a hidden gem.
Gas station to stop at 12 minutes before. You then get on to a dirt road. Apple Maps takes you directly to the spot. Full service bars (Verizon). When you see the view your jaw can’t help but drop. It seems like you can see the entire Rocky Mountain range. Me, my husband, dog (unleashed) and 6 month old baby boy are over the moon. We can’t believe our luck in finding this beautiful, secluded and peaceful spot. The owner was extremely helpful and was a great guy. You can tell he has amazing plans for this location and it will only improve over time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND changing any plans you have to stay at this site.
