The Rabbit Hole Ranch offers beautiful night skies with little to no light pollution and unobstructed views of the majestic Blanca Massif. The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive.
Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like.
Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash.
Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies.
On holidays, however, expect it to be busy.
Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents.
Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly.
This year we have a new Great Pyrenees to greet you, her name is Boudicca and she’s excited to meet everyone! Returning this season is 12 year old KayLee, also a GP and and Finn, our little dude from Alaska.
Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm.
Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We typically do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

Please be advise that trucks and four-wheel vehicles will have a much easier time navigating these roads.
Other vehicles may need to slow down and take it easy through some potentially rough areas.

Our RV Park in South Fork CO has space for 18 R.V.’s. Each site has full hookups with the majority being 50amp service and are oversized so that they can handle any big rig! There is a shower house and laundry facility available for our guests (seasonal). There is more than ample parking and each site is easy to access.

My wife and I were drawn to the beauty of the San Luis Valley with it’s rich Native American, Spanish and early American History. This valley is also the World’s largest Alpine Valley with the Sangre de Cristo mountain range on the east and the San Juan mountains to the West. Truly beautiful countryside. Our 5 acre parcel is within a 56,160 acre rural subdivision that the Forbes family sold back in the 1970’s. Our parcel is at 8,800 elevation.

Pitch your tent underneath Ponderosas or among century old Piñon pines. Great view of Snow capped Mount Blanca to the Northeast all at 8,750 above sea level. There’s a peaceful, quiet, private sense of being on the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The San Luis Valley is also visible below and beyond to the West. Amazing night sky views, you'll feel like you are the only humans enjoying the setting. There are approximately 5000 acres of nearby greenbelt with forest, hills, valleys and alpine meadows for hiking and exploring up the road. I can send you coordinates and maps, or you can easily view on the "On X Offroad" GPS app.
The area is secluded and primitive as current status. You will see a double gated entry with posts. The newly made driveway leads down the hill to a cleared area where you can park your vehicle. We will provide GPS coordinates to your reserved campsite as well as the entry gate lock combination. We recommend using "On X Offroad" GPS app, it works better than Google Maps. There is ample distance between each campsite and plenty of trees to hang hammocks or suspended tree tents.

Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We continue use the space for yoga, capoiera, dance and other events. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Just follow the signs to the designated area and pick out a spot you like.
Some spots have fire rings, some don’t. We are working on getting more, but in the meantime you’re welcome to bring your own. Or feel free to dig out a little hole. It works great and is easy to extinguish when you fill it back in and bury it. Please do not bury any trash.
Typically, you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies.
On holidays, however, expect it to be busy.
Our dogs are working dogs and they are more than happy to help keep you and your pets safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents.
Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our dogs. And please report any issues promptly.

My wife and I were drawn to the beauty of the San Luis Valley with it’s rich Native American, Spanish and early American History. This valley is also the World’s largest Alpine Valley with the Sangre de Cristo mountain range on the east and the San Juan mountains to the West. Truly beautiful countryside. Our 5 acre parcel is within a 56,160 acre rural subdivision that the Forbes family sold back in the 1970’s. Our parcel is at 8,800 elevation.

Pitch your tent underneath Ponderosas or among century old Piñon pines. Great view of Snow capped Mount Blanca to the Northeast all at 8,750 above sea level. There’s a peaceful, quiet, private sense of being on the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The San Luis Valley is also visible below and beyond to the West. Amazing night sky views, you'll feel like you are the only humans enjoying the setting. There are approximately 5000 acres of nearby greenbelt with forest, hills, valleys and alpine meadows for hiking and exploring up the road. I can send you coordinates and maps, or you can easily view on the "On X Offroad" GPS app.
The area is secluded and primitive as current status. You will see a double gated entry with posts. The newly made driveway leads down the hill to a cleared area where you can park your vehicle. We will provide GPS coordinates to your reserved campsite as well as the entry gate lock combination. We recommend using "On X Offroad" GPS app, it works better than Google Maps. There is ample distance between each campsite and plenty of trees to hang hammocks or suspended tree tents.

Hi! We are a bright, young family, & small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a creek, two outdoor bath houses, a fire pit, a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There are two new bell tents, available with up to 3 single beds, or one king. There are ample tent camping locations, and shore power for vans/rvs. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We continue use the space for yoga, capoiera, dance and other events. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems. That may seem low-tech overall but, we are blessed with the infinite power of Starlink internet! Great opportunity for part time mobile office types.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Our home and community provides an opportunity to learn about natural living and building methods, composting, the beauty and challenge of living off grid, and ample opportunities to be in nature. Our unique off-grid Crestone Hideaway home is available for you to experience the full cosmic vibe of Crestone & the San Luis Valley. Our home is designed and outfitted with recycled, upcycled, & reimagined materials, which all contribute to the very off-beat comfort of our home.
The off-grid life is special because it cuts out the noise of on-grid living. Our ranch is fully powered by solar (& back-up generator). We also have hi-speed wifi. Off-grid does not mean out of touch; our goal is to mitigate human impact on the natural environment. We do not skimp on amenities and comfort. We love sharing the peaceful, quiet, laid-back lifestyle of the Crestone area.
We offer full use of our quirky adobe & stucco home. Built from straw bale and traditional framing, we have a comfy living area, 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, a fully appointed kitchen, a dining room for 4+, & a huge outdoor deck made from bleacher seats. We also feature not-quite-plumb walls, church pews, tree trunks, boulders, antique doors, & home-grown design.
The front bedroom has a front row seat to the deck and the Sangre de Cristo mountains just through the French doors. It has a full bed and a single trundle.
The master bedroom offers a queen bed, beautiful southerly view, wood-burning stove, spacious sitting area, and opportunity for rejuvenating & relaxing.
We're in the International Dark Sky community. The stars are magnificent. You will be amazed by the vast expanse of the universe.
The Great Sand Dunes National Park - the tallest and most amazing sand dunes in North America - is visible from almost everywhere on our property. Look to the south to see this alternate view. Plan to make a day-trip to the Dunes! Don't forget about the Ziggurat (it's visible from our deck too).
We are also close to several natural hot springs resorts with both family-friendly and clothing-optional locations. And the choices for hiking are too numerous to list.
This is your headquarters for a fabulous time in the SLV.
(Please note: we do not have 6 beds. There is one queen, one full, one single trundle, and one single pull-out sofa. It sleeps 6 comfortably.)

We brought out wolf pup 16bhsbl travel trailer out to camps the site is huge with plenty of space for 2-3 other families. The directions were easy to follow, however there was one sign that was missing as per the written instructions. One of our party members missed the gate because of the missing sign.
The entrance to the camp sign was a little rutted out and you should feel comfortable off roading with a trailer.

I had such a wonderful time on Lydia’s land. The views are incredibly beautiful and serene. Although it rained most of the time I was there, I stayed warm and dry in the tent. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was HOT. The host family is lovely. I definitely recommend!

One of my favorite stays I’ve done! Instructions on how to get there/park were very clear. Property was beautiful with the sounds of nature and wildlife near by. Having the tent that faced the mountain made waking up and watching the sunrise was breathtaking! Chairs were out side the teepee so we got to enjoy all the star gazing and shooting stars. Can’t wait to stay again for another get away.

We really enjoyed the remoteness of this site even though the city is not far away. Following Andrew’s directions made it easy to access. We only saw 1 person driving down the road the 2 nights we stayed. We could hear people and dogs, but they were far off in the distance.

the hosts greeted us on arrival and let us know everything about the space. the campsite we chose was right near the peaceful cold creek. lots of shade from the surrounding trees. the outhouse and bathroom worked well for us. the road to their place is very bumpy but very private, right near the beautiful mountains. a nice little campsite with a great view of the sunset and stars!

Loved RHR! We were the only ones there, which made it really nice and peaceful. The stars were amazing and the working doggos came to hang out with us frequently throughout the day and keep us safe from coyotes. Directions in the reservation and signs along the way were clear and we got there with no problem. We also drove an AWD Subaru Impreza and didn’t have any issues on the road.

Perfect desert style camping! Bring your own shade! ☀️ Thank you for providing water with large tank for the unbeatable camping bathroom experience! A flush toilet and a HOT shower under the incredible starry skies are unmatched! The lake is a 3 min drive or a small hike away. You cannot swim in this lake but there's plenty of beach and you can still fish and be on-water! The small town aboit 12 mins away is perfect for any last minute or forgotten quick grabs.
