Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. We have 155 acres of the Sierra foothills just ~12 minutes from downtown Murphys. This is a working farm where we specialize in cut flowers and also grow a little food. When available we offer bouquets/eggs/veggies as an add-on. There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! -End of The Driveway -1 Pine -2 Pine The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge. The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent. **if you are a teacher or Pacific Crest Trail hiker let us know! We are happy to offer a discount :)

Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! -End of The Driveway -1 Pine -2 Pine The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge. The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. Weekend Trip to Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite
I was looking for a last minute escape to the mountains to clear my head but didn’t want to deal with a) my own tent or gear, b) a big campground with tons of other people, c) pretentious “glamping” tents, or d) a soulless “cabin” for family reunions. Bonus points for cool design. Liza and Tom’s site was perfect! Tucked up in the woods so it feels remote but easily accessible from the road and just a few minutes drive to cell service and food options. I was in cabin 2 next to a friendly couple in cabin 3, but when I was inside it felt like I was all alone. The A-frame itself is a cool minimalist Scandinavian design, with comfy beds and an incredible floor to ceiling window to watch the sunset and pick out constellations after dark. Outhouse/toilet was comfy, clean and didn’t smell at all. Showers were modern and clean with fresh towels (they’re across the main road so best to drive). I can’t wait to come back for a longer stay!

We loved our stay! It was everything we were hoping for. The A-Frames were very comfortable for the two of us and our 130lb dog. The camp site itself was very quiet and private. Really easy access to the park and nice to have the option of using the showers at their sister property if needed. We're planning on coming back and staying again!

Matt + Eve and their amazing staff were beyond warm and welcoming during my stay, making me feel right at home. Everyone was respectful of leaving space for solitude while also being friendly and fun/easy to converse with. The cabin itself is super cute, but partly open-air making it pretty cold this time of year, esp when the sun isn’t on it. I would recommend bringing tons of warm base layers to sleep in or consider booking one of the other cabins with a heat source if you’re feeling unsure! Overall I had an amazing time and would happily return.

We were in the Yosemite tent. It was very roomy inside. The bed was comfortable. The only critique about the bedding was the laundry detergent used was really strong. The propane heater and stove worked fine although there was only a 1/2 tank. So I would suggest bringing your own just in case. The property was beautiful. It was very easy to find using the written directions.

Wondernut Farm is fantastic. The lookout was gorgeous, calm and super cozy. Despite an overnight 41 degree F temp, we were warm and the amenities were fantastic. The farm is gorgeous as well, we got to see pigs, goats and sheep, and may daughter had the time of her life. Matt and Eve were super welcoming, and everyone was kind. Can't say enough good things.

We loved this little cabin and the entire stay at Wondernut Farm! Eve met us on arrival around a roaring wood stove in the hand-built glass communal living room. We met all the sweet dogs and then she showed us around the expansive shared kitchen before walking us up the hill to our adorable cabin. The huge window has a great view of the hillside, and we laid in bed watching shooting stars. The bed was SO comfortable, with a thick foam topper and nice sheets and pillows. The next morning, we got to meet the goats, sheep, and pigs as well as learn a little bit about the cheese making process. Highly highly recommend — we hope to go back!

We decided last minute on a stay near Yosemite and this place was conveniently near the highway leading to the West entrance but still private and secluded. The views at night with the stars were beautiful!!! We did stay after a snowstorm so it was cold but bundled up with our own extra blankets and sleeping bags and were cozy! Really cozy and very nice to have extra blankets and the charger.

The A-frame cabin was a beautiful, scenic stay within convenient distance from Yosemite. I found it easy to check in, and the hosts provide useful guidance for finding the cabin. Cell service is spotty, so be sure to plan ahead. I found it easy to find, but be aware that you'll want to plan ahead. The view out the cabin window was stunning, and I found all accommodations - bed, desk, lamp, battery, and shower - very comfortable. I will always remember the stars and moonlight.

As a solo traveler (with canine companion) I appreciate good communication with hosts and feeling safe within my camping surroundings. Tom and Liza are thoughtful hosts and Cabin One is charming. It is easily accessible via dirt road with a near-by porta-potty. If you want to feel more remote during your camping experience inquire about cabins two & three (as well as accessibility.) A Yeti full of a generous amount of clean, potable water is provided. I camp with extra warm Rumple-style blankets and hand-heater packets because I get cold easily. I was cozy overnight during my early November stay and enjoyed breakfast in the morning sun at the adjacent picnic table. The photos in the multiple reviews all accurately depict the set-up at the Cabin One sight. Trust the pin & directions to your campsites provided :) I’m looking forward to camping during late-spring/early summer and trying Campsites Two/Three!

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our 9-month-old, and it was such a wonderful experience. We loved that we could upgrade provisions, we used the propane tank for the fire pit and the pour-over coffee setup, which came with freshly roasted beans (amazing!). The whole place has this relaxing, no-nonsense vibe that we really appreciated. We went during the fall, and it was so beautiful seeing the vines changing color. The electric blanket made our night cozy and comfortable even when it got chilly. Aaron was outstanding. His hospitality, knowledge, and genuine passion for his craft really stood out. We enjoyed wine tasting, hanging out in the “vincade,” and my husband watched a bit of Monday Night Football! The wine was fantastic, and we were so impressed we ended up joining the wine club. The yurt was spacious and comfy, the bed was great, and there was plenty of room for our daughter to crawl around. The portapotty was clean, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained. Just an overall relaxing, memorable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the A-frame! The site was quiet, peaceful, and nicely secluded, just as described. The directions provided were clear and easy to follow, and the hot showers across the street were a great bonus. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, off-the-grid stay.

Liza and Tom were incredibly kind and welcoming, giving clear directions and making sure we had everything we needed. If you are arriving after 7pm you must call or message us to setup your arrival. Late check-ins are subject to a $25 fee to pay staff. Absolutely No arrivals past 8pm, you will be asked to leave. Setup is not allowed during quiet hours. The ridge campsites are for 4x4 camper vans or pickup campers only. Rigs must be fully self sufficient with toilets onboard. There is no restroom on the ridge sites. You will not be allowed to camp on the ridge without 4x4 and an onboard toilet. The tent and RV campground is available for all guests. ***Please respect the land and leave no trace. Water is available at tent sites but electricity or sewer are not. Bathrooms, showers, and laundry are located about 300ft away. Bathrooms are BYOTP Bring your own Toilet Paper.*** Cellular service is extremely limited. AT&T and Verizon work in certain random spots. Wifi only works in the main area of the park. It does not work at the tent sites. Wifi passes are $5 and available as an add-on or inside the general store. It is good enough to make calls, text, receive email and get directions. It is not for streaming. Quiet hours are 9pm to 7am. If you are we receive repeated complaints you will be asked to leave. Campfires, charcoal bbqs, etc are prohibited due to high fire danger. Only gas / propane stoves are allowed. We are very close to rainbow pools, which is a beautiful water fall and swimming pool. We are 11 miles from the city of Groveland, CA. We are 11 miles to the entrance to Yosemite National Park

Welcome to the cabin with the best views in all of Arnold. Many guests return year after year. A generator ensures that power outages do not affect your ability to enjoy your stay. Every room is light and bright. We back up to open forest where you get a sense of privacy. A private hillside with provided sleds allows kids many hours of fun. The large kitchen is well stocked. A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you. We are very close to Spicer SNO park and Bear Valley Ski resort. The space The home contains three bedrooms (2 bedrooms + loft) and sleeps 6 comfortably. NO STAIRS! The driveway pulls right up to the front door. We are one of only a few properties that have no stairs to navigate to the front door. HANDICAP-FRIENDLY Our property is handicap and elderly friendly! There is a queen room on the entry-level floor making it easy for handicappe or elderly to enjoy the house without climbing stairs. Access to the great views from the backyard deck also requires no stairs or steps. Elderly individuals will find the home easy to navigate and vacation in. THE KING ROOM (UPSTAIRS) The large upstairs bedroom features a California king bed, sitting area, walk-in closet, and a private balcony to enjoy an early morning coffee while looking out over the 50-mile view. Be sure to leave time to admire the one-of-a-kind 4' X 6' stained glass window, a centerpiece decoration of distinctive beauty created by a locally-renowned artist. As you drift off to sleep, enjoy the streaming-in moonlight from the two skylights that adorn the pine-covered ceiling. The large upstairs bathroom contains a two-person jetted tub looking out on the forest view, dual-sinks, a make-up vanity, and a large walk-in shower. If you haven't been to Arnold and Gold Country, there is so much to explore! The cabin is on a small parcel in a quiet neighborhood, removed but close to town. We're just a 5-minute walk to the Arnold Rim Trail (with 30+ miles of hiking), 10-minute drive to Big Trees State Park, 15 minutes to the town of Murphys (great wineries, pubs and dining), 40 minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort, 10 minutes to White Pines Lake, 45 minutes to Lake Alpine. We’re happy to recommend our favorite spots for hiking and swimming. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re 2 hours from Yosemite, and 2.5 hours from Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 in warmer months. Or you can can always just relax with a view in the cabin. Learn more about this land: Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway. There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles. The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper.  Help yourself to organic coffee and tea! The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone. The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom. We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months. The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.

This site is situated at the base of sinal mountain in Jackson Ca, just 3 miles off highway 88 and 49. It’s feels like it’s miles away from civilization, with a beautiful country road that meanders through gold country. Raley’s , tractor supply and lake tabeaud are only 3 miles away. We personally live here on 5 acres and have one acre dedicated to RV camping. Kirkwood ski resort is a 40 minute drive and South Lake Tahoe is 1.5 hours up 88. There are wonderful wineries in the Shenandoah Valley about 25 minutes away and the beautiful town of Sutter creek with shops, antiques and restaurants. The camp site is surrounded by oak trees and has a gravel ground to help keep dust down.
