We are exceptionally cautious with camp fires. If it is particularly hot and windy, there will be no fires. We now have a gas fire pit where you can create smores or just enjoy the campfire ambiance. Price is $175 for the Flying Pig (up to 5 total). Another option (as an add-on): you can pitch a tent for $45. "The Flying Pig" has a queen bed, bunk beds twin size, and a loft with a twin mattress, all bedding included. You are not just paying for a place to sleep; you are paying for an experience and the enjoyment of our property :-). We serve a continental breakfast (free) or hot breakfast ($35/cabin) between 8-9am. (we can accommodate vegetarian and dairy free diets; let us know before you come). We provide bedding and towels. There is A/C and a plug-in heater in The Flying Pig. Please do not bring additional things to plug in except for chargers for phone/electronic devices. We are approximately 1 1/2 hours south of San Francisco, 30 min south of San Jose (without traffic). Gilroy Gardens is 15 min away; Harvey Bear County park is 1 mile away; Monterey and Santa Cruz and the Pinnacles National Park are approximately 1 hour away. We want you to have a great stay and avoid any surprises! Heart Valley ranch hosts 300+ acres of rolling pasture nestled along the beautiful Jackass Creek. Access to Yosemite via 120 takes 1 hour , Groveland 10 minutes, and Coulterville 5 minutes. You’ll find cows, goats, chickens, llamas and our two beloved livestock dogs on the property. Many pools to cool off in and sweeping sunset views from the highest point on the property. There is lots of nature to enjoy including bird watching, seasonal wildflowers, and other wild animals. We have two livestock guardian dogs that free roam the property and they are not friendly with other animals. IMPORTANT!!! Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

All of our sites are hike in sites. It's about a 1/4 mile hike on a small foot path. We have a wagon available for guests to use and we are happy to help you carry your things. Cal Fire has requested that all campers get a permit, even to operate a gas stove. Our swimming pond is about a 3/4 mile hike through brush from the restaurant but is a great way to beat the heat during the day! Campsites have a picnic table. A dry toilet is a short walk from campsites and we equip sites with a water dispenser and a sealed container for trash. Water from our well is always available outside of the restaurant and bathrooms with running water are available during business hours. There is a fire trail along one of our ridge lines that offers stunning views of the San Antonio Valley as well as our abundant wildlife. We sometimes host speakers and educational workshops and guests are always welcome to participate in events. We are here in Gilroy Ca, on a rural 2 acres just outside of town, further up our road is Coyote Lake to go boating and fishing and Harvey Bear park to go hiking and horse riding. Santa Cruz is a 45 min drive West over hwy 152 and San Jose is 30 min North on 101 and keep going a bit more and you will be in San Francisco. Here at home we raise several different kinds of lives stock. Goats for meat and milk, Sheep for meat and wool and eventually milk, Pigs for meat, Rabbits for meat and hide, Chickens, Ducks and Quail for meat and eggs. We have a garden and small orchard with nearly a dozen fruit trees of different kinds : loquat, a few apples, plums, apricot, peach, fig, persimmons and my favorite the pomegranate! We process everything ourselves using ancestral techniques and love to share and learn with others. Id say the main draw back here is the traffic noise but beyond that, We are quite lucky to have very a green and Id say an oasis of a property, with multiple large palms trees surrounding the pool area and a large weeping willow tree in the main yard/sheep pasture. At the NE corner of the property is a very large oak tree, it is majestic and with the tipi door open to the East the big oak is the first thing you'll see every morning besides the suns rays! The entire Northern property line is rowed with 60ft tall redwood trees and there are a smattering of citrus trees around to boot! The freezer is stocked with in house meat, the BBQ is hot, the pool is cool, come relax after a day on the trails!

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

Clean this up We have a peaceful stay at the super view cabin. There are horses , goats, sheep and chickens hanging out on the property. Lots of room to hike and explore. It’s backed up on blm . We kayaked, cooked eggs frszh from the coop and hung out on the deck of the cabin watching the stunning view. Wish we stayed more than one night! We will be back. Jeremy and Michelle are super cool , accommodating and responsive.

Weekend Trip to Windsor Family Farm

We came back for our second visit and we all still loved the farm! My 4-year old had a blast playing in the sandboxes, swinging on the new play structure, and feeding the animals. My parents loved it, too. The little cottages are adorable and very comfortable, and the super soft bedding feels luxurious. The new portable toilet in the parking area is a super convenient addition! Get the hot breakfast!! Kim is an amazing cook and such a sweet, kind person. She really wants everyone to have a great time.

2 nights at The Painted Lake

This place was kinda magical. I woke up and collected fresh eggs for breakfast, laid in a bunch of hammocks with gorgeous views and sat on the deck looking at the lake. It’s a good cross between rustic camping and glamping. The couch is great to have to relax and be comfortable at night, but you still get the minimalism of camping with the kitchen and shower outside. The kitchen actually had a nice gas griddle/bbq which made it easy to cook.

We had a fantastic time at Windsor Farms. Kim was an excellent host. The Flying Pig cabin is super cute and very comfortable. The farm with all the goats, chickens, sheep, alps and other critters was a blast!

We had a great time using our Tiny Home in the Woods as a home base for Yosemite. Mac was a great host and the site had everything we could need for a roughing it without roughing it experience. Bunks were comfy and had microwave, mini fridge and heating/cooling.

Absolutely beautiful property with such a unique flavor! The yurt is such a fun location and my kids enjoyed it. The swimming hole is a huge draw even though it was too cold to get all the way in right now. We’re definitely coming back!

We had such a great stay here and would absolutely come back. The standout for me was the bed, it was incredibly comfortable, honestly one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had while traveling. After long days exploring, it felt like sinking into a cloud. Eve and Matt were amazing hosts. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel genuinely welcome, friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about creating a great experience for their guests. It really sets the tone for the whole stay. The location is also a huge plus. It’s close enough to Yosemite National Park to make day trips easy, but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the crowds. It worked perfectly as a home base for exploring the area. Overall, this place strikes that rare balance between comfort and nature. If you’re looking for a relaxing, welcoming spot near Yosemite with a seriously comfortable bed, this is it.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

We had THE MOST amazing stay at The Painted lake cabin. Like every single review here, this place is so inviting and is full of warmth. The animals, the lake and the hosts themselves make the overall experience so worth it. Bathrooms were clean and the hot showers were functional. We are a big fan of Painted Lake and will 100% recommend it. We will definitely go again :)

We spent a week at Gold wall Ranch.It was the perfect location for access to the Gold wall for climbing. It was a quick walk from the top to climbing area.Teddy Bear cabin was a nice retreat to come home to. Very quiet with lots of wildlife.We enjoyed our stay.Thanks for having us. Susan and David

Weekend Trip to Diamond Gulch

4th time staying at Diamond Gulch. Super comfy place to crash with a deck that faces direction of sunset. Plenty if bedding to stay warm. I was just crashing for the night but saw there were a variety of supplies, including a heater, camp stove, and essentials. Heed the rule of no leaving food in the tent, or critters will try to come in (I saw repaired damage from previous guests.) Lots of nature signs, birds and squirrel chatter. This space is very comfy.

We stayed here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, and it was such a special experience. The host was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcome. 1 night at Windsor Family Farm

Kim and her farm provides an amazing little country getaway, not too far from the Bay Area. This was our second visit and our 7 year old girls loved it even more. The cabin is perfect for glamping, the bathrooms are clean and there is so much entertainment for the kids, they didn’t ask once for their iPad! Lol. We loved helping feed all the animals and help Kim collect eggs. Make sure you add on the breakfast option- it’s the perfect ending to your stay.

3rd time staying here, basic tent with cots, deck, chairs, and a firepit. Makes camping a bit simpler but having to set up a tent. Cots are firm, if you prefer sleeping on something soft, bring a pad or air cushion. Clean tent. Plenty of wood for the fire.

The remote, rustic feel of the grounds combined with the luxury of a handcrafted bungalow was truly unique. The panorama of the lake through mature oak trees was magical. The kayaks and privacy of the lake made this a one of a kind opportunity. We highly recommend this experience to all who enjoy the unkempt wild of nature, glamping at it's finest, and are comfortable with moderate physical activity. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower feature.
