We are here in Gilroy Ca, on a rural 2 acres just outside of town, further up our road is Coyote Lake to go boating and fishing and Harvey Bear park to go hiking and horse riding. Santa Cruz is a 45 min drive West over hwy 152 and San Jose is 30 min North on 101 and keep going a bit more and you will be in San Francisco. Here at home we raise several different kinds of lives stock. Goats for meat and milk, Sheep for meat and wool and eventually milk, Pigs for meat, Rabbits for meat and hide, Chickens, Ducks and Quail for meat and eggs. We have a garden and small orchard with nearly a dozen fruit trees of different kinds : loquat, a few apples, plums, apricot, peach, fig, persimmons and my favorite the pomegranate! We process everything ourselves using ancestral techniques and love to share and learn with others. Id say the main draw back here is the traffic noise but beyond that, We are quite lucky to have very a green and Id say an oasis of a property, with multiple large palms trees surrounding the pool area and a large weeping willow tree in the main yard/sheep pasture. At the NE corner of the property is a very large oak tree, it is majestic and with the tipi door open to the East the big oak is the first thing you'll see every morning besides the suns rays! The entire Northern property line is rowed with 60ft tall redwood trees and there are a smattering of citrus trees around to boot! The freezer is stocked with in house meat, the BBQ is hot, the pool is cool, come relax after a day on the trails!

Just an easy going spot to park or tent camp close to the trails and the lake. We've got an array of farm animals including our 4yr old son ; ) so kiddos are encouraged. Look forward to meeting you!

Feel what it may have been like to live in a tipi, from collecting your wood to cooking your meal over flame. It only needs a small fire and the space begins to warm up immediately while sounds of crackling embers fill the space. Inside is warm and alive as the shadows from the flames lick and dance about the walls of the Tipi. Outside, the whole canvas shells glows yellow/orange like a lantern in the darkness making for an incredible dichotomy of experience. The Tipi sits on the northern property line and in keeping with tradition the door opens to the east, the rising sun AND a wonderful view of the giant multi hundred year old Oak tree. This is a 30' canvas Tipi and can squeeze 8 people in to sleep but it probably sleeps 4-6 more comfortably. The Tipi sits atop a clay floor and has a fire pit in the center with adjustable smoke flaps to accommodate wind direction. A spigot for well water is steps away, fire wood is onsite and flush toilets available at host home if absolutely necessary. Having been placed in a tall, pre-existing U shaped stand of cypress ornamentals the tipi sits naturally tucked away. Still immediately to the south is the gate to the orchard where apples and pomegranates await and further on is the pool area that campers all have access to! Like animals? Feel free to scratch goats, feed sheep, throw stick for the dogs or roll in the mud with pigs, we've got many four legged and winged friends about who love attention, well, some more than others! As we do raise our own meat here you will be offered an opportunity for the full immersion experience(or anywhere in between). This includes learning to harvest your own meat and enjoy it over your fire, process a hide into leather and many other aspects of more land based living, all using the Ancestral skills and techniques we've learned along the way. The Tipi

We had lots of fun at Jaime's and family at the Tipi, the goats and sheep went all around, and the kids played around. Jamie, Codi, and Trilliam were great hosts! We'll come again:)

Beautiful Oak Tree

This is our second time staying under the big, beautiful oak tree. Jamie is a wonderful host and the spot is perfect for what we needed. We will try to stay again next time we are passing through Gilroy. Highly recommend.

Great Tipi in a private location

The Tipi

Rented out Jamie’s Tipi last minute and arrived at 7pm, the location was easy to find and the tipi was bigger than I expected. The bench inside is a nice touch, and the firewood was easily accessible. The property is only a 5 min drive from In n Out and a few fast food places if that’s your thing. It was a great experience overall, would definitely come back!

We had a quiet night at this place but unfortunately the place was a bit disappointing and not very accurate to what has been described. The campsite was not well maintained, no firepit as described nor was there farm animals around. For what we paid and with no facilities, I would have gone somewhere else.

The Tipi

We had a great and memorable experience! The It was our first time making a fire in a tipi and sleeping in a tipi. The best part was learning about ranching from Cody. He is a great instructor and loves to share his amazing knowledge. We learned how to make rope from goat leg tendons. We milked the goats and fed and held the ducks. We will return for a workshop in October.

Big oak, goat poop and thistle

The big oak it self was magnificent, easily a several hundred year old tree I reckon somewhere around 250 to 300 yrs old. Aside from that the rest of the hip camp site and experience falls flat. We pulled up to the site and had a tough time finding the hosts even after phone calls and messages via Hipcamp, when we did find them , turns out the address listed isn’t the same one you’re staying at, you have to go to next property over to park. Which was a tight turn in and out of the first property and onto the second property next door in our 30 ft rig. There wasn’t much signage or direction at the next site. But given that the site consisted of a triplex and we desired some privacy we squeezed between a shed and the big tree. The shed had a lot of random “stuff” stored outside. We ended parking on a thick layer of mulch, goat poop and very pokey thistle. Luckily my kiddos were too tired to play outside and we called it an early night. I reached out at 9 am to the hosts to point me to the water spigot, I didn’t get a reply till 11 am(an hour before check out time) turns out the spigot was 75’ or 100’ away. Luckily we had decided to leave promptly and not decided to wait around for a reply. It’s sites like these that make me want to quit the platform.

The Oak Tree

We spent a great 2 nights here to be close to Gilroy Gardens. Our two small children loved waking up to roosters walking around outside our windows and to see horses on the other side of the fence. The hosts were gracious to let them visit their “farm” (goats, ducks, chickens, pigs, etc) both days. Our 5yo was gifted a whole bag of pomegranate seeds & was so happy. We’d love to stop by again. Thank you!

Our hosts were so kind and welcoming, and the land was beautiful. They invited us to help milk the goats, and to pick grapes and apples to eat. The oak tree was beautiful, and the setting serene. I would highly recommend staying here!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful evening on Jamie’s property! We slept on a bed in the back of our car and were very pleased with how secluded it felt and the shade of the huge oak tree. We were very grateful that we could book the accommodation last minute as we purposefully left most of our trip unplanned. Jamie and her family (and all the friendly dogs!!) are some of the most welcoming, kind, and positive individuals we have met on our travels so far. Meeting them was truly a highlight of our trip. (The wood fire hot tub was definitely up there as well) I would recommend this accommodation to anyone passing through!
