Our ranch consists of 142 acres located at the top of East Cuesta Grade, elevation approximately 2100 ft. We are secluded and it feels like you're far away from city life yet San Luis Obispo is only a twenty minute drive away. We neighbor Los Padres National Forest which has several miles of hiking and biking trails.
On our farm we have 10 sheep, 10 goats, 29 chickens, 2 pigs, 5 dogs and a cat. Interaction with farm animals is common place as most campsites are close to our animal pastures. Bee hives are located on the property as well. Honey, eggs and firewood are available for purchase. :)

A quiet secluded parcel nestled away on the outskirts of atascadero that backs up to the Salinas River. We get a nice breeze every afternoon and the eucalyptus trees provide ample shade when needed. Town is just a 5 minute drive and we are right in the center of the county making it an ideal place for wine lovers wanting to visit any of our beautiful local vineyards. We have two spots to camp with fire pits and shared running water. Also feel free to enjoy our horseshoe pits or take a walk through the back down to the riverbed.

Wildlife is part of the rhythm here—deer in the pastures, cows wandering through like they own the place, and great bird-watching (quail in the grass, hawks cruising above, owls after sunset, hummingbirds and blue jays in the oaks).

Highlands Ranch Hip Camp sites are located half way between Atascadero and Morro Bay.
The weather at Highlands Ranch is more like the inland Atascadero side hot in the summer months and cold in the winter months.
We have 4 terraced, no hook up, spots available all of which can accommodate 2 or 4 wheel drive camper vans, trucks or cars.
One of the sites can be used for fifth wheel, small motorhome or multiple camper type vehicles and of course tents can be set up on all sites. Sites range from small to extra large, that are quaintly studded with oak trees and native greenery for a peaceful camp off the road.
Also, from our sites available, there is only a 5 minute walk to the local, off the beaten path, restaurant called the Half Way Station (great food, beer/ wine, sweets and live music) open Thursday through Sunday, which you can find on Facebook or Instagram.

SLO Country Camp was once a part of the Serpa Ranch, one of the early ranches of the Central Coast. It’s remained a beautiful rural pocket in the Edna Valley area of San Luis Obispo. It’s quiet and peaceful, enjoy your morning coffee listening to all the birds waking up. There’s a private creek not far away that draws deer and wildlife. Just saw 3 deer run through out property 2 days ago. Owls, red tail hawks, eagles, squirrels and jack rabbits we see frequently. And you can listen to the coyotes howling at night. We’re surrounded by rolling coastal hills, vineyards, horses, cattle and also land apportioned to the Land Conservancy. Walk down our road and then left up to the top of the hill for a panoramic view of the entire area with the city San Luis Obispo at a distance.
Our two sites are flat on decomposed granite pads. Both have excellent views and easy access to our common areas: big sink and counter, and a cold-water outdoor "beach-type" shower. Firewood is available for purchase at camp for those wanting to use the fire pit, or you can bring your own.
The San Luis Obispo, Central Coast has so much to see and do! Hiking trails abound, our favorites are Bob Jones trail to walk or bike to Avila Beach, Johnson Ranch and Irish Hills for hiking hills, the Ridge trail for a view over Shell and Avila beaches, and the Harmony Trail to walk grassy cliffs by the ocean. Montano de Oro is only 15 minutes away with rocky ocean cliff trails that lead down to the coastline.
We are 5 minutes from the beginning of the Edna Valley winery trail with 30 wineries or more I’ve lost count. Tasting and relaxing in great atmospheres. Our favorites are Biddle Ranch, Talley, Mailene, Chamisal, Bailyanna... but there are so many more. We’re 10 minutes from downtown San Luis Obispo, 10–12 minutes to Avila or Pismo beaches. Morro Bay is 25 minutes. And we’re just 5 minutes off the 101 for easy access to traveling. The Central Coast has almost everything for fun, adventure and food. Surfing, biking, hiking, ocean kayaking, paddle boarding, golf, wine and beer culture, ranch lands, shopping and restaurants and we’re close to it all.

We have partnered with Forever Protected Equine, a non- profit to support the retired working horses on to our pastures wear they can live a natural equine life with friends. We named our property the Twisted Branch after one of the big oak trees that sits on the site where you will camp with us! It's on a hilltop with amazing views in nearly all directions. The campsite faces South/West so sunsets are fantastic. We use no chemicals on the soil or annual grasses. It is very quiet and the night sky is always stunning. Owls hoot at night and Redtail Hawks hunt for ground squirrels during the day. We have alot of Acorn woodpeckers living in the oak trees, the ones with the bright red head feathers. April through June we see bright yellow Orioles. At night you will hear hundreds of little frogs in the nearby ponds, depending on the season.
We are located in the heart of Wine Country and there are plenty of activities around us and in town.

In planning our annual July trip from
San Diego to the Olympic Peninsula, I prefer to take the coastal route to spare the heat. We decided to do 4 shorter days with our Class B and three dogs. Atascadero on Saturday was an easy drive. The site was easy to access off of 101, but keep a careful eye out for the turn into the driveway. I rehearsed it on Street View and still almost missed it. There are some barking dogs nearby and some roosters in the morning, but we slept just fine. We didn’t even run the AC, but it was nice to have 30A shore power, just in case.

It’s a great place to stay for an overnight stop! Cabernet was very friendly and even took the time to show us around, despite hosting a July 4th party when we made our last-minute late-night reservation.
The porta potty was clean and not stinky, which was a pleasant surprise. There was also water available to use, which we appreciated.

What a great property with friendly and helpful host's.
When we arrived Kevin was there to greet us and make sure we got situated and hooked up. We were in spot #5 next to a nice big oak tree with some ground cover underneath. Kevin invited us to watch the July 4th fireworks with his family up on the hill the following day. We took him up on the offer and had a great time with their group.
The space was spacious and peaceful. There is a road about 50-75 yds from the camp spot but it is not busy at all and was not a problem. Easy to get into with a 28ft travel trailer.
We will be back at some point in time!

I truly enjoyed my stay here. I booked the spot last minute after a long day of traveling and arrived around 10:30pm. It was very dark out and was struggling with my gps so I called one of the hosts, Kevin, for directions and he could not have been nicer. I described my surroundings to him on the phone and he didn’t hesitate to drive out to find me and guide me to my spot. He also gave me a little tour of my site before I settled in. Lots of picnic tables near a cute tree and a table set up with fairy lights. There is also little to no light pollution on the property so the sky was full of stars. I couldn’t have felt more welcomed and taken care of. If you’re passing through and need a place to crash or just want a truly awesome place to camp, this is your spot!

Imagine Family Farm was lovely! Ryan was accommodating to our very last minute request to camp in our van on the property. We were able to park in a shady, flat spot about a 2 minute walk to the bathroom. The bathroom was really nice and super clean! This would be a great place for a beginner camper to try out tent camping while having the luxury of a clean bathroom. The only issue (which wasn’t a big deal) was the occasional very loud noise coming from some machinery or utility stuff near where we camped. It only happened every hour or two, but it was surprising at first! Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

What a fantastic stay! Christy’s ranch is beautiful with rolling, oak studded hills, a working windmill, cattle and horses, two friendly ranch dogs, horse shoe pits, full hookups, and a cool barn bathroom for a unique, tranquil shower. Christy delivered farm fresh eggs, homemade baked goods, and local fruit for our breakfast. Communication was 100, atmosphere was 100, and location was 100. Would highly recommend.

From start to finish camp was a great experience. We didn't connect face to face with Barb, but knew she was there if needed. Good, informative instruction were provided. Great camp space for our camp trailer and additional tent. Felt just isolated enough as the terrain is heavily wooded, but close to numerous locally owned coffee shops (and stores if needed) Perfect location to hit SLO and Pismo and downtown Atascadero is very enjoyable.
