About the property
Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property.
We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away).
We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors!
Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though.
About the listing
Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property.
You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22.
Each site will accommodate up to 6 people. Amenities listed below:

You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22.

Beautiful spot located at my property on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. See a legal cannabis farm in action at all times of the seasons while sleeping in a fully functioning 2023 Jayco farmhouse edition camper. Went with my 13 year old son and dad. Super easy to find, Julian will send the GPS coordinates before your trip; if you enter those into google maps you won't have any problems, it takes you right there (it would be challenging otherwise, I think). Beautiful location on a farm pond, just a few minutes of the main highway coming west out of Westmoreland. One of the ranch hands (Andrew?) came by a couple times to ask if we needed anything, offered ice, potatoes, even offered to move the portapotty so it was more convenient (we did not take him up on that, but it was super nice to offer) etc; super friendly guy. Kid had an amazing time exploring the pond, fishing and swimming. I've heard that it can get windy, but we did not experience that. I think it's definitely worth checking the forecast specifically for wind before you go, I can see that it could go from pleasant to miserable pretty quickly if the wind kicked up. Kid is already bugging me to go back, so.....

We had an amazing stay at this Hipcamp and couldn’t recommend it more. The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and responsive, which made the whole experience smooth from start to finish.
The property itself is very well maintained and thoughtfully set up. You can tell a lot of care goes into keeping everything clean, organized, and comfortable for guests. The views were absolutely stunning, perfect for relaxing, enjoying a quiet morning coffee, or winding down at sunset.
We also really appreciated how peaceful and private the site felt. Another highlight was how dog-friendly the property is. Our dogs felt completely welcome and comfortable, with plenty of space to explore safely. It made the trip even more enjoyable knowing we could bring them along and not worry.
Overall, it was a great experience. If you’re looking for a private, scenic, welcoming, and dog-friendly place to stay with a fantastic host, this is definitely a spot worth booking. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had such a great stay at Camp Chester with our three little ones! The scenery was beautiful and peaceful, and there was plenty for us to do without ever feeling crowded. We loved exploring the hiking trail nearby. It was manageable with kids and made the whole trip feel like a little adventure! My kids literally played from sun up to sun down!
One of our favorite parts was the outdoor setup. Having access to coffee in the morning and a fun outdoor grill kitchen made everything so easy and enjoyable. It felt like camping but with the perfect thoughtful touches. Not to mention the beautiful outdoor bath house! The best!
It was the kind of place that made camping with young kids actually relaxing. We’d definitely come back! We are eager to explore their other sites!

We slept SO WELL at Coyote Moon. It’s so peaceful, dark and quiet - exactly what we needed after a beautiful but disruptive night of sleep in Joshua Tree. Adil is a great Host, creating a strong sense of welcome and safety while supporting your privacy and seclusion. The view from the site is really beautiful and there were great flowers while we there!! As a heads up you will be camping fairly close to the house but the site is lovely, private and peaceful. Davida was a wonderful host. The campsite was quiet and cozy, perfect for stargazing. The trailer itself had everything we needed - just don't expect a full hotel room. The large outdoor area is covered in turf, which helps reduce dust. In addition to the toilet/shower in the trailer, the site has two bathrooms in an adjacent building, and I believe they are building an additional shower. One tip: use Google Maps to navigate to the property - Waze stops a few miles short.

Tom and his wife were very welcoming and friendly! The RV is stocked with plenty of cooking utensils, coffee, tea, water, etc. and they were so sweet in sharing fresh lemons and oranges with me. My dog had a blast exploring the fenced in property (he’s a beagle, so he loved it) and we had a wonderful evening by the campfire. We will definitely be back again!!! Thank you!

The full amenities, were a plus. The fridge was great, no need for ice refills. Wifi, stove, microwave, and shower/toilet came in handy, as did the heating(40° temps). Dark sky viewing was excellent, and made viewing Jupiter and the total lunar eclipse with my telescope, amazing. Close proximity to Julian is great.
