Weekend Trip to Zephyr Mountain Avocado Grove

My family and I went tent camping on Shane’s land and it was great. The camp sites were far apart enough that it felt secluded, which we loved especially because we didn’t have to share a portal toilet. My daughter enjoyed seeing the animals in their animal sanctuary. Would recommend for small families.

1 night at Bailes Farm

This was one of my favorite campsites I've ever been to! I have camped in Santa Cruz, Pismo and Big Sur, Yosemite as an example of a few places I've been and Bailles Farm is right at the top of the list. My husband is recovering from a stroke and with a little help from me was able to navigate the terrain of the site. The car was able to pull right up to unload. It reminded me of a cross between a cabin and tent; an outdoor experience and camping feel with the privacy of your own toilet and shower along with convenience of a kitchen and bed. If you are a nature buff like me, having a view of the valley WHILE using the facilities and showering is an amazing experience. I'd consider the site "user friendly" even for a first time camper. Our car is a Toyota Corolla and we had no trouble on the drive up. I suggest printing out your instructions or downloading them to your phone. I wish I'd printed reverse directions and map/photos the host provided via email because once you are on the back roads service gets spotty, although we did get reception once at the site. The firewood provided for the pot belly stove inside was gone and after a quick text, they brought us some more. Extremely courteous exchange with the host regarding this and questions we had on the way up. Make sure to take advantage of the hammock swings at sunset like we did and make s'mores or hotdogs over the gas fire pit at night. We will definitely be back. Thanks for hosting us!

1 night at Granite Mountain

Everything about this cabin was incredible. The views of the lake and mountain range are breathtaking, the kind that make you just want to sit back and soak it all in. The amenities were thoughtful and top-notch, which made it super easy to pack light and still feel totally comfortable. The bed was cozy, the shower was warm, and the whole place felt like a peaceful off-grid retreat while still having everything you need. It’s the perfect mix of nature and comfort. If you’re looking to unplug and recharge in a beautiful setting, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain

The place was clean, well stocked with all the essentials. The view from the cabin were amazing! We slept so well and had a relaxing weekend. The cabin is also close to an olive farm where you can do olive oil tasting, and close to a really cool art sculpture gallery. We loved our stay here.

Weekend Trip to Bailes Farm

Dome Home under the Queen Palms is a "must stay" for those who are looking for a unique glamping experience. My husband loved using the (propane) barbeque grill to prepare a scrumptious dinner. Even though we brought along our own sauces and spices, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that there were already quite a few salts, spices and oil in the cabinet. Please note that if you need to use sugar or honey, you must bring along your own as there is only artificial sweetener available. (This is completely understandable as storing sugar in the cabinet would only attract unwanted ants and other insects.) We used the utensils provided, to cook a hearty breakfast in the morning and I used the French Press to make coffee. There is a kettle to boil water and tea bags in case you enjoy English Tea or Green Tea... The Dome has a bunk bed to sleep in and the lower bed is larger than the upper one. The mattresses are extremely comfortable alongwith the bed covers and we didn't need to use our comforters which we had carried along. Maybe during the winter months you would need your own comforters. I would recommend however taking your own pillows, especially if you know that you would only sleep well on your own pillow. At night solar lights come on to brighten the dining area which is a long wooden table with wooden benches on either side. The restroom area a a little walk away from the Dome. We carried a bottle of water to pour down after peeing each time, to keep odors away.

2 nights at Granite Mountain

I went with my girlfriend and we had a wonderful time. The space was beautiful and private. It’s in the countryside in the sense that there isn’t a ton around but there are some roads with the occasional truck passing by. The cabins are surrounded by thick vegetation which provide most of the privacy, they aren’t far apart and the road is pretty close but you won’t see or think about any of that unless you have a really tall vantage point because of the brush in the way. If your looking for the most secluded one the top campsite (not this one) is the most private. As it’s furthest from the house/parking lot and other cabins, it’s also highest on the hill so you will have the best view. We did not leave the campsite for the one day and two nights we stayed we didn’t want to much more then lounge as the cabin and campsite were wonderful. I can’t speak for the surrounding area beyond saying you would have to get in your car and drive should you want to do anything other than sleep and hang out around the cabin. The outhouse and cabin themselves were wonderful air conditioned and in perfect condition. Although I know better I would not have been surprised if you told me no one else has stayed there and it was just built. As a heads up you may want to bring a swimsuit as nearby there are hot springs that are captured into a series of baths you can go to for 45$. We didn’t speak to the host outside of texts but they seemed lovely.

What more could you ask for? Clear instructions and communication, amazing location on top of the mountain with sweeping views of the valley below. Peaceful surroundings, private and a host that made us feel very welcomed. Shane went above and beyond to help us when we needed assistance - a kind soul indeed. If you are looking for a great camping spot this is 100% a good decision. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. 10/10. 5 stars!

Awesome weekend getaway! We had a great time spending the weekend at the Black Cedar Haven. Ken was very attentive and responds very quickly to requests or questions making our stay smooth. Pet friendly camping so you can bring your pets who have separation anxiety haha.

I loved our little stay at the Eagles Nest 😊 it was so quaint and homey and the stars at night were sooooo lovely. My love and I brought our pup and she had the time of her life exploring! Went for a nice hike at Dripping Springs campground which was great. I recommend bringing your own pots and pans! Ken had some provided but would have liked to have more options! It was great views and lovely atmosphere!!! Would definitely come back here :)

Weekend Trip to Villa Macala

We stayed at Macala Orchards in the Elderberry campground and had a fantastic experience. The site was clean, spacious, and well-maintained—perfect for our group of nine, with plenty of room to spread out comfortably. The newly built shower, sink, and toilet outhouse were spotless and thoughtfully designed, and the ground well faucet was a nice touch for easy access to water. We were warmly greeted by David, who was an excellent host. He answered all our questions, both in person and via text, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. The location strikes a great balance: it’s secluded enough to feel like a true getaway, yet only about 15 minutes from supermarkets and restaurants. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, private campground with great amenities and a welcoming host!

I loved this site and highly recommend! It was the perfect mix of comfort and nature for an easy getaway from the city. There's lots of options for things to do around the are. I went for a hike, found a fun thrift store, and stopped by old town Temecula on my way out. Ken was an amazing host, his site is so thoughtfully designed and equipped. Will definitely stay again!

Shane and Nicole’s property is sooo beautiful! We camped at the Glamp in the Grove site and it was perfect. There was a structure that was great for putting our tent in, an outhouse + handwashing station, two tables, two chairs, and a fire pit (that we paid extra for). Shane was also super helpful and responded quickly which was appreciated. Thank you for an awesome stay Shane and Nicole :)

One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). On my 60 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.

We are an hour from the beach and roughly an hour and half to Skiing and Snowboarding at Mt. High. Minutes away from Santa Rosa Plateau for hiking. You are also a 15-30 minute drive to explore the amenities of the local cities, wine country and 45 minutes to the beach. The 21 acre property provides amazing views as well as biking and hiking along the local fire and farm roads. We offer Camping supplies such as tents or chairs if needed for a small rental fee as well as the ability to purchase fresh avocados, citrus or Farm fresh eggs from the grove.
