Weekend Trip to Loomerland

We had a lot of fun at this location. Directions were clear and it was easy to find. We were greeted by the camp hosts and even friendlier Dog who helped us set up camp. The tent spot was a little sloped but otherwise plenty of space to spread out. Our kids had a lot of fun with the animals. Goats, dogs, cats, bunnies, ducks, chickens and a pig! We loved experiencing farm life for the weekend.

The site was not what we expected but it was a good experience! The Hosts were extremely welcoming and hospitable and very easygoing! About 20 minutes from downtown San Diego and a very affordable place made our stay very enjoyable!

Weekend Trip to Hidden Lake

We camped here as a group of 5 and 2 dogs. The weather didn't turn out in our favor so unfortunately we didn't get to swim in the lake like we had hoped. It was one of the first questions I asked and Dante said his kids swim in there all the time so if that's what you're looking for this would be the perfect place! You are right on the waters edge and even have kayaks and canoes and a rope swing to enjoy. Plenty of fish. My husband didn't have the right type of bait unfortunately but still caught a couple! My dog had a great swim that morning. The sound of the frogs in the evening was so relaxing, although we didn't have a lot of sun the whole area you are camping has plenty of trees overhead for shade! Dante had excellent communication and met us at the top. Those of us with AT&T had perfect reception! I want to make another trip out here when it warms up and take advantage of the lake. Couldn't ask for a better time and the drive out there is beautiful!

Had a great stay at Phillip’s site! He was super communicative and helpful from the start, which made everything easy. The camp spot was just what I was looking for—quiet, secluded, and peaceful. There were some great hiking trails nearby too, which was a bonus. Would definitely come back!

This was a very scenic site. Gorgeous valley with green hills. There are a couple trails with amazing views. Philip was very hospitable and good with communication. For those of you that are more modest it is an outdoor bucket for bathrooms. The campsites make you feel isolated with free space around you. Definitely recommend

Weekend Trip to Thompson Palms Campground

Doggos had so much fun roaming the acres without leash and playing hide and seek in garden area. The three black cows were so friendly and even had zoomies before breakfast and dinner. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

1 night at Clara Vista High Desert Retreat

Incredible one-night stay there. If anything, the views from the cabin are underrated. Overlooks so much gorgeousness AND got to wake up basically inside a cloud. While it was near freezing outside, stayed plenty toasty inside. Oh, and did do the 20- to 25- minute drive to Borrego Springs for dinner and had several nice options there. Otherwise, prepared simple meals using the the propane stove and kettle. Highly recommend for a single/couple looking for a simple get-away.

It was my first time camping overnight in the tent and I have to say it’s a beautiful area. The host is wonderful. Provides everything you need. The property lives up to its expectations. It’s just a good place and quiet area to get away.

Phillip’s campsite was amazing. Let’s start with our arrival. Phillip was extremely welcoming and responsive as ever!! If we had any questions for arrival he responded in MINUTES!! Checking in was super easy just please ensure to follow directions. The campsite was super cool, clean, and spacious. We would camp here again no hesitation!!! All the camp sites were great!!! Can’t wait to come back and again we can’t say enough good things about this campsite and host. We even were able to go on a great hike with our two dogs off leach!! Great place for pups who like a bit of outdoor time.

Great place to get away from the city without driving hours! Super private. The stone house was pretty cool. The composting toilet worked well. It wasn’t stinky at all. If you’re looking to camp without being in a noisy campground, this is your place!

Wonderful hosts on this small family farm. Enjoyed our space among the avocado trees. Our dog was fascinated by the cows and pig penned across the way and we had a great time visiting the neighboring local wineries. Everything that is great about Hipcamp!

Sean was a wonderful host. The campground was clean and quite. The spot we got had the most beautiful view and we got to play with the dogs every morning when they'd come greet us while making their little rounds. It was so nice. The kitchen was nice and clean and the bathrooms were also nice. Plenty of hiking to do there and overall it was just a great experience. I hope to come back someday!

We had a wonderful time at Loomerland. The volunteers we lovely and let us help with feeding the animals. Very relaxing stay. The pups are so friendly and we will definitely be back!

Where to begin!!! What an incredible time and stay at Hidden Lake. The 6 of us, three adults three kiddos and a big dog spent two lovely nights here and never wanted to leave! We caught (and released back) about 25 fish over the three days, and had many hours spent on the kayak and having a campfire.

This is a historical property in campo California. A great old west town with an interesting history behind it. This particular property was where the Buffalo soldiers kept their working horses close to 100 years ago in what is now the last standing original buffalo soldier barn. Old artifacts and handmade tack can still be found in the giant rustic barn. The barn is now used to breed unique crossbred horses that have gained Note-oriety, and have been featured on the cover of magazines, including the Boot Barn campaign (who intend to use the barn in in future photo shoots) as well as use famous spotted horse, Confettis American Warrior in the next ad campaign being shot in Hollywood next month. We tried to keep the barn with its original charm and added some world class beautiful horses that are available for riding around the property and/or photoshoots during your stay for an additional cost. We have extra stalls available for people who would like to bring their own horses for a unique camping experience including riding your horse in Camp Locket and along the USA/America border wall. Lots of space for trailer and very secure stalls in the barn. We are just starting out doing this, but have the options of staying in a brand new shed yet to be converted, in the barn inside an old stall to have a real authentic experience where the soldiers used to rest or a tent overlooking the old historical barn and the fabulous horses (right now we have babies!). We have multiple cross fences fenced areas including stalls and areas for your dog but will need to discuss details beforehand. We are very pet and people friendly.

Dutchman Canyon

This 150 acre slice of heaven contains an isolated private ephemeral stream that has run the last two years from January to July. Located down a narrow bumpy dirt road off of Highway 94 Dutchman Canyon is at 1300 feet above sea level, The temperature in Dulzura remains nice year round. There are many Oaks, Sycamores, Eucylptus, Pepper and Pine Trees on the property. The fire road has been cleared to the top of the grade and a slight ocean view is available down the Otay Valley Road view line for hikers or mountain bike enthusiasts. A hiking trail has also been cleared to a stand of Eucylptus trees on the hillside with a pond area at their base on the west facing slope. The Dulzura winery is located across the valley and we are only 1/8 mile from the General Store of Dulzura. The Tecate Border crossing to Mexico is 10 miles south of the property. Located a few miles west of Deer Valley we have deer in the canyon year round looking for fresh water from the ephemeral stream. A 19th century concrete cistern holds water year round at one location in the stream bed. Please do not burn the dead oak firewood from the property.

Since their passing, the Stables have been managed by their son Scott Tynan. Our stables offer a clean and quiet place for horse owners to board their precious companions - short or long term - or to serve as a weekend getaway for a person or group of friends/riders. Each Boarding Corral has walking space, shaded corners, automated water feeders, soft dirt, partially sheltered sides and is in close proximity to a round pen, a small arena (turnout) and is encompassed by a small walking track. No two corrals are close enough to each other for the horses to interact, reducing the likelyhood of mishap from a neighbor. Each Weekender Corral comes equipped with the same as the above, excepting only the partially sheltered side panels, and are right next to where you will be parking your trailer or camper. With access to all 38 miles of equestrian trails in the area and less than a 2 mile ride to the beautiful South San Diego beaches, D&J Stables is a prime location for horse men and women everywhere. We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors! Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though. About the listing Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property. You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22. Each site will accommodate up to 6 people. The Glamping Airstreams property is located in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California's wine country. Easy access to all the local vineyards and restaurants in the area. The property has a collection of older Airstreams that you can stay in. Some have been gutted and refurnished. Some have original interiors. Some have bathrooms that are hooked up and can be used as normal. For those that don't have bathrooms there are communal bathrooms and showers. There are also full RV hook ups available on property (water, sewer, and 15 amp electric), as well as tent camping space. There is a communal space with bar seating, refrigerators and a kitchen. The days and nights are peaceful. You are welcome to have a fire in one of our fire pits that can be brought to your site. The Glamping Airstream property is a very rustic space in a very rustic wine country. Dusty roads, ocean winds that swoop in through the valley and the sun make it hard to keep everything polished and clean. This is not a luxurious setting. It is a property that is a work in progress and is being brought back to life after some down time. What we do have is beautiful views, plenty of space, and warm hospitality.
