Bad Rat Ranch is a 20-acre ranch with 8 acres of lush vineyards in the scenic countryside of Northern California. The ranch is set amongst rolling hills and vineyards about two hours from both San Francisco and Sacramento.
We provide two guest houses (cabins), as well as two campsites with RV hookups.
The ranch is an oasis with plenty of space to stretch out. Wander the vineyard, down a beer in the outdoor living room, join a game of volleyball or ping pong, cook a gourmet meal on the BBQ, and end your day soaking in the shared hot tub.
Whether you want some seclusion, to hang with other campers, or to visit the attractions of northern California, the ranch offers everything you need for a comfortable stay!

Welcome to Wise Oak Farm, a unique tiny house compound on 5 acres located between Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. The stay area consists of four buildings, the main one being a super cozy tiny house built on a 16' trailer, filled with custom woodwork and unique details. It sleeps up to four and has a kitchen (sink, microwave/oven, mini fridge, and propane stove) and small dining area. Immediately adjacent is a luxury "outhouse" with full sized hot shower and a composting toilet. There is an additional converted farm shed with a pull out couch and TV to relax comfortably indoors (the "rec room"). The outdoor area consists of a breakfast patio and large barn with couches and dining table.
We are just starting to develop the property as a working farm. Currently we have a dozen chickens, 30+ fruit trees, and cows pasturing in the main field.
The location is fantastic for exploring the area. In the middle of wine country, it's only a thirty minute drive to the coast or to the redwoods, and one hour from San Francisco. Plus easy access to the bike path leading to both Santa Rosa and Sebastopol.
Weather issues: The tiny house has heating but no AC, which is not normally an issue unless daytime temperatures are in the mid 90s or higher. Summer nighttime temps are usually in the 50s and the space cools rapidly with windows open. The rec room has both heating and AC, which can be slept in in the case of extreme temperatures. In the winter, heavy rainfall can make the stay unpleasant as you need to move outside frequently between buildings.

What an absolutely magical Christmas getaway!
From the moment we arrived, Euni's warm welcome set the tone for our entire stay. You could tell immediately that this place is truly a labor of love.
The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays, Euni clearly put so much care and thought into every detail. The Christmas tree was stunning and made the whole house feel like something out of a storybook. While the weather outside was honestly terrible, rain and wind howling through those gorgeous old olive trees, inside we were wrapped in complete coziness.
We'd curl up, watch the storm through the windows, and feel so grateful to be tucked away in this little haven.
It was the perfect Christmas hideout for me and my girlfriend. The rustic charm, the peaceful surroundings, the sense of being somewhere truly special, we didn't want to leave.
There's something rare about a place that feels this thoughtfully cared for, and you can sense the history and love in every corner.
We can't recommend Trees of Heaven enough. If you're looking for a cozy escape where you'll feel genuinely welcomed, this is it. Thank you, Euni (and your husband), for making our Christmas so memorable.

We loved Marek's tiny house, where we spent a beautiful December weekend. He and his dog Ceviche were wonderful hosts. Our own dog loved roaming around the large ranch, together with Ceviche, and we also enjoyed walking around the vineyards. Two incredible wineries, Wild Diamond and 6-sigma are very close by. We enjoyed tasting wine at both, and the views from the Wild Diamond tasting rooms is amazing.

Weekend Trip to Wise Oak Farm
Stayed here with a friend visiting from out of town for a night and we really enjoyed our time at the Wise Oak Farm Tiny House. Between the house, rec room, barn and farm, there wasn’t a dull moment and it felt more like spending time at a friend’s home than an unfamiliar rental. The house is just a short drive to Sebastopol and Santa Rosa downtown for convenient access to restaurants and entertainment. But once at the house, you feel like you’re hours away from the hustle and have nature’s beauty to enjoy. The place is clean, well decorated and provided sufficient amenities. My friend and I also discussed staying here again for future visits. Thank you Daniel for providing a wonderful and thoughtful space.

We had the most wonderful stay in this tiny home! The outdoor living space is perfect, and inside, the living area with a pull-out couch was so cozy. Every detail was thoughtfully decorated, and there was a place for everything- everything felt so cute and organized. Loved the two beds in the tiny home and then another whole space with the pull out couch- The spot is incredibly quiet and peaceful; waking up to birds chirping and hearing owls at night made it truly magical. We would absolutely come again and highly recommend this gem!

Everything I wanted for a much needed peaceful getaway was met. The vineyard is as it was described and more. Amazing backdrop to an adorable and quaint little home. The window on the top overlooking the vineyard made sunrises and sunsets really special. A beautiful vineyard and little gazebo you can tell lots of life was put into this place. Ceviche the dog was so sweet and gentle. Marek was especially friendly and attentive. Great conversations with him. Checked in on me once a day to make sure all was well.
PRO: no mosquitoes! I was so happy to bring my own hammock and placed it under the big tree and loved picking some grapes hanging all over the big tree!
What an amazing first Hipcamp experience. So many great locations I was looking into but something about that tiny home and pictures of the vineyard really called out to me and I am SOOOO happy I chose this place. It will be hard to choose other places for my next trip. I know I will be back.

My partner and I stayed in Marek's tiny home and couldn't have had a better experience. We soaked in the hot tub, strolled around the ranch, and grilled in the evening. Also, the tiny home has a great view from the loft, we woke up to stunning sunrises both mornings we were at the ranch! The landscapes were stunning, and super fun to paint. Marek was great company, and we enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about his ranch and adventures. To top it off, his dog Ceviche is the sweetest :)

Weekend Trip to Wise Oak Farm
I was extremely impressed by how comfortable and cozy Wise Oak Farm was! The tiny house was well equipped, fridge was big enough to hold our snacks and beverages for one night, there was no coffee, but if you bring your own there is a nice french press. The composting toilet was in a completely separate building so although it was a bit smelly when we were there it did not bother us when we were in the tiny house or the rec room. Rec room was comfortable and I slept on the couch without taking it out so can't comment on the fold out bed comfort as I did not try it. We watched a movie on the tv and it was great! All in all a wonderful stay, and it was very close to the family event we attended so it worked perfectly for us.

Absolutely adorable tiny home with great amenities. We were welcomed by a beautiful great horned owl in the morning. Quiet area, comfy bed, and wonderful accommodations. Highly recommend. We enjoyed having a quiet breakfast in the open barn, while watching the chickens and other birds around the farm. Close to a great food and drink scene and nice hiking trails through wine country. Highly recommend.

I just loved staying in The Tiny House. Both it and the cottage close by were really well appointed and well maintained. I spent a most restful and serene few days relaxing in the breeze by the green, berry-laden vines. So peaceful! My best friend and I spend the weekend here for a girls trip and it was great! The area is super private with the fencing, clean, and beautiful in the garden. The barn is the perfect place to hang out and play games, and is even better at night with the lights. I would absolutely recommend this place for a nice getaway.

Where to go
West Shore
On Berryessa’s northwestern shore, at the mouth of Putah Creek Canyon, the Putah Canyon Campground offers a boat launch and nearly 100 lakeview campsites for tents, RVs, trailers, and groups, with picnic tables, barbecue grills, water, and toilets. Further south on a peninsula, the Spanish Flat Campground offers 55 campsites for tents, RVs, and trailers, with picnic tables, barbecue pits, piped water, and toilets. The Spanish Flat Village Center offers stores, a deli, and a museum nearby.
South Shore
On the southwestern end, the Steele Canyon Campground offers a boat launch and 84 campsites for tents, RVs, and trailers. At the southern end, Pleasure Cove Campground is the largest around the lake with 140 tent, RV, and trailer campsites. Part of the Pleasure Cove Marina, amenities are plentiful and include flush toilets, boat rentals, cabin rentals, and a boat launch.

Within 30 miles of Lake Berryessa are several other camping options. Southeast of the lake, Lake Solano Park offers creekside camping, a seasonal pool, and a long, narrow lake ideal for non-motorized boating.
