Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. For your entertainment pleasure, you can enjoy the 75 inch Smart TV while lounging in the gorgeous and spacious living room surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and Joshua Trees. The Wet bar is the perfect place to make that late afternoon cocktail while listening to your favorite music. You'll find quite an eclectic selection of vinyl which we encourage to explore and play on the the vintage turntable. A docking station is also provided should you decide to play via bluetooth or plug directly into your phone. In addition to the wrap around patio, we've created a unique experience for our guests. Enjoy bathing under the stars on a specially designed deck that hosts "Side by Side" bathtubs while gazing over a sea of Joshua Trees. The tubs come with all your bathing necessities, a fire pit, lounging area and an outdoor shower. The wrap around patio features a jacuzzi, gas fire pit, sofas, swings and a suspended bed for the ultimate relaxation experience.

The A frames with bedding and lighting offer a quiet retreat after being outside and exposed to the desert. This is especially true during the windy month of April. The outdoor flushing toilet sink and shower are private and airy. There is also a partitioned and inviting kitchen/gathering space for cooking and eating at a table. We walked, and walked in every direction from the A frame (since it is tucked away from the road) without having to cross a street or intrude on neighbors. We saw wonderful birds and wildflowers, various Joshua trees and jack-rabbits. We heard coyote in the distance. Devil's Punchbowl is a short drive away...and must be experienced. Lake Los Angeles is a 7 minute drive away and has a Dollar General store...which has everything food, drink, necessities related. Osman created a very welcoming outdoor and indoor space that is well lit and safe and clean and warm and quiet...we loved out stay.

I absolutely loved camping here. The land was beautiful and our scenic and secluded camping spot had everything we needed and more. You could not convince me that our host, David, was not an angel. At the drop of a hat he was more than willing to help with everything. We tried the pomegranate jelly and it was delicious!

Deb’s Place has become one of our favorite escapes. We camped at sites 1 and 2 plus the schoolie. Deb truly wants you to enjoy your stay and we felt it in every little detail. This was our second time here, and we’ve already booked another trip with a whole new camping group.
Part of me doesn’t want this place to get too popular… but honestly, once people experience it, I know it’ll become everyone’s favorite camp spot.

3 nights at Kashmir - A Majestic Retreat
We had a great time at the property and everything worked as advertised. Really close to some fun outdoor activities (The Integratron, Giant Rock, as well as some fantastic restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Not only did we have great weather and stars, but we saw a variety of desert wildlife as well. The outdoor shower was a great feature and we would definitely not only return, but recommend to anyone who is looking for a weekend getaway out in the high desert.

We had such an amazing trip at Macala! My girlfriend and I came here for two nights to celebrate our birthdays and get away from the city life and it was just so lovely. The host/employees that we interacted with (David, Bobby, Amy, and the cute dog Leo) were all so welcoming and kind. We could really tell how much thought and love was put into the development and planning of the farm and the campsites. The campsite we stayed at (Oak Trees, site 4) was sooo cozy and cute. It felt secluded from the rest of the property and we felt like we owned the place! We ordered everything they had on their menu (olive oil, jams, herbs, tea) and it was all so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the olive oil and Guava Jam especially, so tasty! Also highly recommend booking a tour of the property with David, he took us around and showed us how everything operates on the farm at sunset and it was so special and beautiful. We cannot wait to return, it seriously might be the best campsite we’ve ever been to! There were also super clean/nice showers and bathrooms available throughout the site. This place is such a hidden gem, highly highly recommend. Next time we’ll have to plan an olive oil tasting, we missed out this time around, but we’ll be back soon! We spent 6 nights camping at the Bee Box at Villa Macala. It was incredible! The property was vast and everywhere you looked there was something else to see. Obviously a lot of heart and soul went into the creation of this beautiful place. Our site had a nice view with a sturdy picnic table, benches and a fireplace. There was a pergola with a solid cover which made even the hottest days very bearable.
The hospitality was off the charts too! It was extremely hot the first 2 days we were there and ranch manager David brought us bags of ice on 2 separate occasions - unsolicited! We didn’t use the outhouse shower/restrooms because we were self contained, but they were spotless and even stocked with toiletries! We also happened to be present during one of their market weekends and were able to score some great olive oil (nice and peppery).
I will be back and will tell our friends. Many thanks to David, Rich and Nina for a very memorable week!

I loved staying at campsite 1 here with friends! It’s a great spot for a group camping trip. There’s plenty of space for cooking, lounging and exploring. The ranch is a working ranch and we were able to stop by the market they were hosting on the property. The property is so big, we were still able to have a private campground to ourselves. The night time is so peaceful with the sounds of animals (mostly lizards, owls, and rabbits) and this is the perfect spot for star gazing. David, the ranch manager, was so accommodating to our group and we communicated seamlessly throughout our stay. Overall the trip felt so safe and serene! Thanks again to Nina for setting us up before the trip. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

Weekend Trip to Star Ranch
We had an amazing time staying at Osman’s ranch. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for a camping getaway. The A-frame setup made the experience feel unique while still being comfortable and well thought out.
Osman was super professional and an amazing host from start to finish. He was responsive, welcoming, and made sure everything was smooth for our group. You can tell he truly cares about creating a great experience for his guests.
The space was clean, well maintained, and had everything we needed. Being able to have campfires and bring pets made it even better. It was the perfect spot to relax, enjoy nature, and spend quality time with friends.
Would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor stay.
