Located at the base of the Sierra foothills, the lake and recreation area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, water-skiing and boating. Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents.
For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path at Beals Point that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports.
At both locations, you will stay in 16ft deluxe tents. Each tent has 2 full beds in them.
At Beals Point we offer "Luxury" Glamping with real furniture, cozy bedding, and all the amenities you need for a relaxing and fun filled stay for up to 8 people (AT BEALS POINT ONLY!).
At both Beals Point and Peninsula, we also offer "Basic" Glamping, where we bring the tent and mattresses, and you bring the rest. Make lasting memories at this cozy cottage in the foothills of Calaveras County. Deer are abundant, wild turkeys roost in the trees & a large seasonal pond is full of frogs with the occasional ducks, egrets & turtles that love to pass through. The cottage sits on 5 beautiful acres where the terrain has little variation in elevation making it easily accessible for exploration. In a rural neighborhood of generously spaced ranchettes, you can ensure a feeling of remote tranquility while being just 2 miles from town for all of your shopping needs.
This cozy home sleeps 7 people. It has an open layout of 750 sq' with 2 bedrooms & 1 full bathroom. The primary bedroom has a queen. Secondary bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed plus a sofa that pulls out into a queen. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with necessities. You can find games/puzzles in the hall closet, plus there's free wifi.
Ranchero Cottage backs up to the Oak Knoll Campground on New Hogan Lake. This seasonal campground is open during the peak season from May to September. Acorn, the year-round campground is only a 5-minute drive up the road. The boat launch is nearby too at just 8-minutes away. Your stay at Ranchero Cottage includes a Parking-Permit for 1 vehicle (plus trailer) gaining you free access to the boat launch & the day use areas around New Hogan lake.
Spring & Winter Seasons -
In the spring & winter months, the property is lush & green with a full flowing pond that feeds into New Hogan Lake. The best part about visiting in the "off season" is having the peaceful campground all to yourself for exploration. Nothing beats a quiet book or picnic by the lake before the campers come in.
Summer & Fall Seasons -
This is the peak season. The property is golden & dry during the summer & fall months. The seasonal pond is typically low and has algae growth from the heat. While temperatures will be very hot (reaching triple digits at times.), the cottage has central HVAC & retains it's temperature surprisingly well. There are also many evergreen trees on the property for shade. People love this time of year for fishing, water sports & swimming in the lake! We all loved staying here and we would come back again (hopefully when it’s not raining). Alan was super friendly and the site, bathroom, water, canoes, hay rides, etc were all perfect. We did see another review to pack earplugs because it can be loud at night (the geese lol) so we all slept great. I would definitely recommend people think about what dogs they bring since there are many loose unneutered male dogs that are friendly and come around to the site regularly (as well as a pig!) One younger pup, (a jack russel mix?), repeatedly peed on our things but I think he’s still learning from the other pups how to behave. Overall we had lots of fun and definitely recommend this place.

We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.

The Ascension Ranch was incredible. They were very supportive hosts and had the perfect balance of helping us find our way and cultivating a gorgeous spot, while also respecting our privacy and letting us have a much needed friends gathering. The land was beautiful and we LOVED the animals. We even had the BEST dog hang with us at our campsite, which not only added to our joy of the place, but kept us feeling safe and secure. 10/10 worth the trip. We're planning another trip in the Summer.

The space was wide open and flat with perfect ground for tent camping. It was a bit hard to find a spot in the dark so highly suggest planning to set up before dusk, but there were a few light posts present. Check in and check out was simple, fast, and requires no human interaction. Area seems very safe - even more so with the fancy high tech gate system into the ranch - and the nearby downtown area is fancy. The restroom/shower room was clean but can be a bit of a walk from the camp sites, so plan accordingly. Morning dew made it so that your socks are likely to get wet making it to the restroom!

We're coming back here! Affordable and well worth it. The highlight was definitely the animal feeding-it was straight up magical. Like a scene out of a movie!
Traditional camping with some modern luxuries like flush toilets and a dishwashing sink. The animals were charming and nature's alarm.
Just a couple of heads up-the area can get quite wet and foggy. Things will get wet overnight.
The farm dogs, Sparky and Little Red were cute but quite persistent with our female dog.
It is an actual ranch so bring earplugs. Roosters started crowing at 10pm and continued to do so at random intervals.
For all you cityfolk, it is a ranch, so watch your step.
All in all, LOVE this hipcamp.

My family spent two wonderful nights here. We were warmly welcomed by Alan, Brian, Mark and the pups. Brian was especially helpful and friendly. The highlights of our trip were feeding the animals off the hay trailer, canoeing at will, freedom to explore the beautiful acreage and the tranquil ambience. We will most definitely be returning, with a trip already in the works. Highly highly recommend visiting this magical place at least once.

We recently spent a day at this amazing campsite and it was an absolute treat! The host was super flexible and welcoming, which made everything so easy and stress-free.
The common area was perfectly set up with a pergola for shade, games, and firepits—a great spot to relax, play, and just hang out. The outdoor kitchen with a grill and grass pit was incredible and made food prep so much fun. Even the bathroom facilities were clean and well-equipped, which was a nice touch for the evening.
Everything was thoughtfully arranged, making it feel cozy, fun, and effortless. Perfect spot for a evening getaway with friends or family - we’ll definitely be back!

It was my first time staying here, but it honestly felt like home right away. There’s something about this place that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and truly appreciate everything around you. The peaceful surroundings and quiet moments in nature made my stay so special and refreshing.

Awesome campsite, great spot for a lowkey trip with some buddies. Alan was an amazing host meeting us quickly after our set up and offering a hay ride to feed the cows (definitely recommend!) Along with Rafael one of the ranch helpers. Special shout out there funny dude showed us what to do and let us help him feed the cows. Brian was also an awesome guy and provided plenty of wood for our fire and a pretty nice firework show with his buddy Frank as we were there for the NewYear.
Dogs were all fun to have around and all of the animals were cool to watch all day.
100% recommend this site and I plan to return myself too.
