DISCLAIMER: This is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your group will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.
Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

Weekend Trip to Topanga Oasis
The Dragonfly House was a perfect place for me! Incredible views from every angle of oak trees and mountains and butterflies. I woke to the sound of the canyon literally humming with bees and the sun peaking over the hillside. 10 minutes form the beach, 5 minutes from excellent restaurants - this was the perfect weekend getaway for me. All the rooms: bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen are separate spaces that you use outdoor stairs to enter. I found it charming and the access to nature thrilling, but bring a flashlight for nightime wandering.

This is a nicely decorated cabin that is cozy, yet spacious. It has two large upstairs bedrooms, though one is more of a loft in that it doesn’t have a door to close. Downstairs has the bathroom and basic kitchen and living area, along with a front and rear deck. It’s definitely not flashy or state of the art, but has more of a relaxing analog chill vibe. I really enjoyed staying here!

Weekend Trip to Oak Forest House
This was such a beautiful woodsy location to stay in—the huge deck under the oak tree was stunning, the room itself felt cozy and tasteful. The outdoor shower setup can’t be beat—what’s better than a hot shower underneath the canopy of an oak tree?
The location is amazing, super close to local Topanga attractions like cafe on 27 and the Will Geer Theatre, a short ride to the beach one way, and a short ride to amenities in the valley the other direction.
We would absolutely come back!

Highly recommend Jess's tiny cabin! The views are spectacular and the mini pool was so refreshing and relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised by the stocked kitchen supplies and the mini fridge. Jess was super responsive and extremely helpful with any questions we had, and was able to turn on AC and trigger the generator for electricity at night as soon as we needed it, which we really appreciated. We will definitely visit again!

Oh goodness what a treat! What a treasure! Wilbur and I loved the Topanga Oasis Quaint cabin. We arrived when a film shoot was about to wrap in a different cabin in the cloister of cabins, made for some elevated excitement. Otherwise it was super quiet, but for sure it is also a bird sanctuary, waking up with their song surrounded by mountains was glorious. Even extended our stay for one more day. And the cherry on the top was meeting the fantastic and animated owner, Saskia on the final day. We had a great time talking, and she was really generous showing us around.
