The best vintage trailers near Irvine

·

Wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ana Mountains, Irvine is something special. Gaping canyons and wild beaches create an outdoor hub that draws campers from across Orange County. Thanks to the trove of state and regional parks, you have plenty of ways to soak in that California sun.

Want to sleep to the sound of crashing waves? Head to Bolsa Chica State Beach. Enviable surf fishing, ocean-front RV camping, and coastal hiking trails make this a popular spot.

To see the Pacific in its rugged beauty, check out Crystal Cove State Park. Coastal cliff hikes, backpack camping, and scuba diving are right at your fingertips. Just a few miles away, Bommer Canyon is a step back in time. Here, you can explore multi-use trails or stay overnight in an old cattle ranch camp.

More camping options await at O'Neil Regional Park, a 4,500-acre paradise in the Trabuco Canyon wilderness. The park also offers group camping and horse camping. If you're just spending the day, pack some sandwiches to enjoy at the family picnic area.

Are you looking for some large-scale California adventure? Limestone Canyon Regional Park boasts some of the best mountain biking in Irvine. Meanwhile, Caspers Wilderness Park is a favorite for hiking and horseback riding through sandstone canyons.

Beyond the parks, you also find a host of seaside cottages and RV parks. They're great for those who prefer to camp in comfort with picnic tables, WiFi—the works.

Like the rest of sunny Southern California, Irvine boasts fair weather and great temps year round. As a result, most parks and campgrounds are open in all seasons. Just be sure to book early if you're camping in the summer.

27mi from Irvine · 1 site · Lodging · Long Beach, CA
This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people, with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker. Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation. Help yourself to the freshest fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth. The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours). It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times. Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
