D & J Stables is a family run facility created by Dick and Jenny Tynan in 2005. It is located on the Kimzey Family Ranch in San Diego.
Since their passing, the Stables have been managed by their son Scott Tynan.
Our stables offer a clean and quiet place for horse owners to board their precious companions - short or long term - or to serve as a weekend getaway for a person or group of friends/riders.
Each Boarding Corral has walking space, shaded corners, automated water feeders, soft dirt, partially sheltered sides and is in close proximity to a round pen, a small arena (turnout) and is encompassed by a small walking track. No two corrals are close enough to each other for the horses to interact, reducing the likelyhood of mishap from a neighbor.
Each Weekender Corral comes equipped with the same as the above, excepting only the partially sheltered side panels, and are right next to where you will be parking your trailer or camper.
With access to all 38 miles of equestrian trails in the area and less than a 2 mile ride to the beautiful South San Diego beaches, D&J Stables is a prime location for horse men and women everywhere.

We have pristine views and perfect weather San Diego is known for. D and J Stables is one of the last ranches with beach access to ride a horse on the beach. It's a rustic, one of a kind experience.

A few acres of natural land. There is a seasonal creek running through the area. It's a very quiet area. It's primitive, natural and we love it that way. The creek runs into the Cleveland national forest and down to the Mesa Grande Indian reservation. There is hiking and exploring! Come throw a tent up in one of the two camp sites or a hammock in the trees.. Hike the nature preserves in Santa Ysabel. Go to Wynola enjoy craft beverages, Josie's live music off the 76. Or just enjoy the peacefulness of the forest here and hike and reset your mind.
The top 13 are residential, the bottom 40 will be open for exploring, camping, hiking and gardening! We are new homesteaders trying to do things more organically and real free range for our animals. We have a farm on the top 13 acres with cows, pigs, goats, sheep and chickens. More animals will come soon. We will eventually like to offer food from our farm to our guests. That way they can actually see where the food comes from and how ours raised!

It's important to note that San Diego has strict RV parking regulations, including a ban on overnight parking on city streets. Given the high demand, RV campsites and lodges tend to book up quickly. If you're planning to visit San Diego with your RV, be sure to secure a suitable parking spot in advance.
While our spot is not intended as a destination in itself, it provides a cozy retreat for your RV while you explore the vibrant city of San Diego. Our amenities include a private, landscaped yard with trees, 110V 15A electrical and water connections, outdoor furniture with a table, umbrella, and seating, as well as night lighting for added ambiance.
For those looking for extra convenience, we offer optional outdoor packages for an additional fee. These include a 26' Minnie Winnie RV that sleeps up to 8 people, a Surfing Package with 2-4 surfboards and 2-4 body boards as needed, and a Bicycle Package with 2-4 bikes available upon request. Currently, we're home to 2 chihuahuas, 2 Australian Cattle Dogs (Lily, Alberto, Julio - aka Formerly known as The Three Chimigos and Oakley & Eddie the blue heelers), 4 pot belly pigs (Michael, Falkor, Meg, & Ayla - aka The Three Little Pigs +1), a mini horse (Phinneas), a mini donkey (Donkey), and a Buckskin Quarter Horse (Tivio), two lambs (Dolly & Reba), and 4 alpacas (Fern, Woodrow, Gandalf, & Gus). We have a lot of flat, usable space, but we also have some impressive boulders, hidden nooks and crannies to explore, and beautiful, mature trees. It's our little slice of heaven!

Immerse yourself in a budding rescue ranch with pot belly pigs, mini horse, and mini donkey, or take a romp on our 5 acres with lots of hidden gems to discover, or explore the many hiking trails nearby (Mt. Woodson, Potato Chip Rock, Iron Mountain). You also have access to a relaxing hot tub/jacuzzi & brand new 300sf deck.
The Airstream has one King bed with a super comfy mattress and the dinette turns in to an additional King sleeping space.
If you want a true immersive, farm experience, ask about our add-on experiences including grooming the animals, helping at feed time, and cleaning their pens! There's plenty of great space to ride your bikes, and it's proven to be a hit with the kiddos!
The Airstream is new to the ranch and is a work in progress, but you'll love the charm of hanging out in a very cool vintage trailer. We'll soon be adding some layers of paint, shine, and lots of love, so make sure to follow our progress in fixing the ole girl up!
Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
**WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Please ask if you have questions?!
