LOCATION: We are located one mile down a well maintained and navigable dirt road, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Palm Desert, and 15 minutes to the 10 freeway. We're near the Cabazon outlets, 2 hours to Los Angeles, San Diego, Disneyland, mountain areas, and beaches. Nearby there are local wildlife preserves, hiking and outdoor activities. We are 45 minutes to Joshua Tree and a half hour to Coachella. We truly are in the middle of nowhere and the center of everything. For folks traveling in winter, we’re considerably warmer than Joshua Tree and the High Desert. In summer we are cooler than Palm Springs. Immediate neighbors are small farmers and ranchers. Local spas and resorts are available for day use and access to their pools and ponds for as little as $10 a day ($5 seniors). We can provide space for events and entertainment for a small fee. ARRIVAL: Upon approving your reservation we'll send you a welcome message with information we need prior to your arrival to process your reservation, prepare for your arrival and provide you with check in information and accurate directions as gps apps to our location are often wrong. Please answer that initial email as soon as possible. We'll follow up with check in information and driving directions. Once in the gate, stay on the driveway and meet us on the patio with the blue shade sails. We will provide you with an approximately 15 minute orientation and tour, register you, check identification and show you to your campsite. OUR SPACE: Our land is 130 feet wide by an eighth of a mile deep in a residential neighborhood with lots 2.5-10 acres. We can see and hear our neighbors. We maintain a very quiet space but occasionally our neighbors have their own activities and events. Let us know if the neighborhood gets too noisy and we'll try to mitigate those situations. We can also provide free earplugs for those very rare occasions. Guests wanting a totally isolated experience may want to book elsewhere. DragonflyHill Desert Farm is a working farm in a wilderness area. Guests should check weather forecasts prior to arrival and assure that they have the right equipment. We have a moderate cancellation policy that allows guests to cancel 3 days prior to their arrival date to receive a refund. This allows enough time to check weather reports. There are occasional heavy rains and frequent high winds. It can get very hot in summer and reach freezing temperatures in winter. Despite our proximity to the freeway and nearby cities, and our location in a residential neighborhood, this is very much a wilderness area. DragonflyHill is not responsible for the weather. We are not a resort. Expect dry plants and patches during summer and into the fall. As a farm, we may be a bit more rustic than your typical farm to allow for shelter for local wildlife. Our cultivation methods encourage biodiversity and though we are growing food, many of our crops resemble landscaping or natural habitat rather than garden patches. Currently we have habitat viewing areas, an herb garden, an orchard, an outdoor classroom, a sheltered social distancing patio, an outdoor kitchen, meditation gardens, our (seasonal) mineral pool, community library, game boards and toys, and a tree bath. Plant varieties, wildlife and presentation may vary by season. Our farm specializes in herbs, fruit trees, desert and native plants, and edible flowers. We also grow some sprouts and microgreens indoors. We cultivate community and share what we grow with our neighbors and our guests. Guests have shared access to the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, the orchards, gardens, patios, and grounds of the Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat, and (for safety reasons) limited access to the pool pond and spa -both unheated. The pool pond is filled with local mineral water from our own well. The pool pond is cleaned regularly & is chlorinated. The pool pond is not cleaned daily and is shared with wildlife. including bees and birds who drink water pool side. Debris from high winds and wildlife may contribute to the pool pond environment. Currently neither the pool pond nor the spa is heated. We also have wheelchair accessible hot water outdoor showers and wheelchair accessible porta potties. The pool area is accessible to guests year round but the pool itself is winterized and unavailable from mid October through mid to late April. We work hard to keep the home well maintained & clean; we're vigilant & do due diligence with professional quarterly visits from Truly Nolen 4 Season Pest Prevention (a green company.) We doubt you'll see any unwanted critters inside or near the house or other structures during your stay, but if you do, please advise us & we will promptly address the situation. DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat is in a remote area of the desert with lots of wildlife. To help us keep wildlife OUT of the house and campsites, please keep food out of reach of critters & clean up after every meal. We affirmatively welcome children, but as this is a working farm in a wilderness area, parents will need to be vigilant of their child's safety and activity while here. We are constantly adding activities and features for children and adults. We are child friendly and we are a good location for groups. (Just message us with your details and we can tailor your stay to meet your needs.) We have 1 cat and 1 service dog. Other guests may have pets or assistance animals. Neighbors have chickens, farm animals and pets. There are a few feral cats in the vicinity as well as a variety of desert wildlife. At night you can hear the coyotes though we’ve never seen them or their tracks on our land. Common sightings of road runners, rabbits, hares, lizards, snakes, hawks, doves, desert wrens, migrating ducks (in the Spring), scorpions, mantises, crickets, mockingbirds, insects and spiders. WHO WE ARE: DragonflyHill is a community of artisans, activists, craftspeople and farmers, working together to cultivate community, develop methodologies for living and working together in ever increasing paradigms of social justice and sustainability. We are a safe and sober space that is disability and LGBTQIA affirmative, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-imperialist and de-colonialist, because anything else is just a bandaid. Core values of our work include attention to detail, fine craftwork and cultivating community. Some members of the Dragonfly Team live on the premises at all times and will be here for the duration of your stay. The rest of the team are community members. We are dog friendly, but to keep our free range animals safe (and we have had them injured or killed by people not recognizing that dogs are predatory by nature), please keep your dog easily under control and on a short leash at all times. Also, because it's not possible to control your dog on a long line, dogs may NOT be tied or tethered anywhere on the property. For the sake of the antique furniture, do not leave your dog alone in the cottage unless they are crate trained and in a crate. If you want to let your dog off leash, 2 blocks down our road (and off property), there is a large scrub field where you can let your dog run free. Thank you for supporting this 501c3 charity where all the revenue goes to support the animals and the large number of dogs we foster from high kill shelters. NOTE: Namaste Farms is a true working farm with copious amounts of sheep, goats, chickens, peafowl, and countless other animals. Along with those, we have free range squirrels, rabbits, flies, dust and yes, even free range spiders. If you're wanting a rustic experience that gives you a break from city life and you can handle dust, dirt, cobwebs (and these can happen over night inside your cottage and WILL be in the common areas), with sounds of animals vocalizing at all hours of the day and night, then Namaste Farms is a perfect fit for you. While most guests (and your hosts) see the idiosyncrasies and obvious cohabitation with animals and bugs beautiful, you may not. If your primary focus is on amenities, and you're looking for a completely dust/dirt, cobweb/bug, and animal/animal sound free experience, a working farm is probably not a good fit for you. We are dog friendly, but to keep our free range animals safe (and we have had them injured or killed by people not recognizing that dogs are predatory by nature), please keep your dog easily under control and on a short leash at all times. Also, because it's not possible to control your dog on a long line, dogs may NOT be tied or tethered anywhere on the property. For the sake of the antique furniture, do not leave your dog alone in the cottage unless they are crate trained and in a crate. If you want to let your dog off leash, 2 blocks down our road (and off property), there is a large scrub field where you can let your dog run free. Thank you for supporting this 501c3 charity where all the revenue goes to support the animals and the large number of dogs we foster from high kill shelters. This booking is for the Hay Barn cottage located at Namaste Farms in the heart of Temecula's Wine Country. This is a beautiful and quiet (with the exception of animal/farm sounds) private working farm situated down a wide and maintained disintegrated granite/dirt rd. While the cottage is only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all within 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, and if you want to peruse all of them, we can arrange a driver for you (30.00/hour) who will drive (Jaguar) and take you anywhere within Temecula/Murrieta while happily waiting for you so you can quickly go to your next destination. If you're not interested in any of the above activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. At night, enjoy the sounds of serenity while roasting marshmallows at our wine barrel fire pit! As you step onto the expansive brand new deck, you're greeted by a serene ambiance, complete with a fire pit, spa, hammock under our gorgeous tree, and a BBQ - creating the ultimate outdoor oasis. It's the perfect place to unwind and soak in the beauty of nature. Charming rural neighborhood surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and wine country. A serene and tranquil environment perfect for relaxation with its rolling hills, lush valleys and picturesque landscape. Take in the beautiful star studded night sky while lounging in our hot tub with a glass of wine. Golfing is available just down the street and neighboring wineries are a very short drive. Beautiful hiking trails to explore here. Centrally located near cities and attractions like Lego land, Sea World and Disneyland too! Things to note: *Pets are welcome. Pet fee is $50 per night per pet *No outside fires - a propane BBQ and fire pit are supplied for guests enjoyment. *Children are welcome but this is not a good fit for infants. No baby amenities provided *Guests will be given a security keypad code that must be entered in order to gain access to the driveway that leads to the left towards your private tiny home on the hill. Private entry and parking for 2! *Guests will have exclusive full access to the 1 bedroom home, expansive deck with outdoor eating area, BBQ, fire pit, hammock, and jacuzzi. *We take the approach of being hands off on the property unless needed, so do not plan to visit with us in person during your stay (unless there is an issue that needs to be addressed) - we want you to feel like you have the home all to yourself! *NO PARTIES/ EVENTS/ GATHERINGS. MAX OCCUPANCY observed on property. Limit of 2 guests MAX. Please do not book this property if you are looking to party as you will be asked to leave with no refund. *There is plenty of parking along our spacious unpaved driveway leading up to the home and it is secured by our private security gate. *Quiet time is 10pm- 7am (music off, voices down) *Please do not disturb neighbors *Bringing pets? There is an additional fee of $50/night per pet. If you choose the option on Hipcamp for a pet and it exceeds that amount we will send you an invoice post-booking for the remaining balance. *Please notify me prior to arrival (up to 2 pets) — over 25lbs requires $200 pet deposit *Also, this property is not fenced and is surrounded by wildlife (ie. coyotes, rattlesnakes, etc). Please take precautions with your pet and never leave them unattended outside. Please see our welcome guide inside the property for tips on wildlife encounters. Must curb your pet, any pet damages will be charged to renter. *No smoking inside *Regularly scheduled check-in time is 4pm. *Wifi speed is FAST! *Docusign Rental agreement must be signed for insurance reasons in order to gain access to the property. * Fire Pit: Feel free to cozy up around our fire pit, but remember to do so with caution, especially when a child is present—safety first! Additionally, please be mindful that our fire pit's propane usage is monitored. Guests may incur charges for any loss of propane if the fire pit is left unattended for extended periods. *The Den resort fee covers spa maintenance, cleanings, and propane for fire pit use. If there is ever an issue with the spa or fire pit we can refund you this $35 spa & fire pit resort fee. Pets are not allowed in the hot tub. *Guests arriving after dark: Twin Oaks Valley road is not well lit (due to no street lights). Proceed slowly with headlights on. Address is posted at the entrance. *Smoke detector - I will be notified if there is smoking inside the townhome ($200 fine) *Minut – sound detection at high decibels – I will be notified at 85 decibels during regular hours and over 70 decibels during quiet hours. If it gets very loud you will be notified too. We cannot hear what is being said, just measured sound decibels. *Exterior Cameras- Security gate, driveway and front door- audio & visual recordings activated by motion sensor and in place for safety measures. *Special note after the COVID-19 Crisis: Protecting each other’s health and safety is very important to us. We are doing our part in keeping our vacation rental as safe as possible to prevent any spread of any disease/illness. With the current concern over the coronavirus, we have taken further precautions. We have always made sure each room is clean and safe for the next guest and we will continue to do so. Had a great time. Tent was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we would have ever needed. We made pizza, tea, and breakfast. The bathrooms were clean. My only complaint would be that the showers were cold. We tried morning and night and there was no hot water. Would come back again. My daughter loved pointing out all of the avocados on the property.

Very happy with the stay. Stayed for one night on a Sunday. Enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi (not heated) in the day time very refreshing on a hot day. Enjoyed our private space, tent with King bed, fire pit, and of course the private hot mineral spring pool. Ron is very communicative. Everything simple, no stress. Just what the doctor ordered, thank you!

Weekend Trip to Campo Nopalito

My wife and I along with our two dogs had a wonderful time at the Nopalito farm. The entire setting from the communal outdoor kitchen to the shower and outdoor seating areas were great. Jacob and his parents worked diligently to make all guests stay most comfortable. We definitely plan to come back.

We a great weekend enjoying the hot spring tub. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. They have firewood available and ramen for dinner so we didn’t need to leave the camp. The tent is spacious with a memory foam bed, air-conditioning, and electricity. Would definitely return!

We loved our camp experience on Ronald’s farm! The scenery was beautiful with each the evening starlight and the morning sun, especially when soaking our feet in the tub. Our toddler loved the dome experience and all there was to explore as well. The ramen is also a must-order…perfect spice level and so tasty. We loved the farm!

The Eureka Casita was the perfect quick getaway for my boyfriend and I. Jacob was super responsive and we had a great time walking around the farm and spending time in the communal areas as well! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing, Private, and Romantic Retreat What an unforgettable stay! The setting felt truly wild and alive — we even heard coyotes howling in the night. 🐾It was peaceful, private, and incredibly romantic. The food was beyond expectations — the ramen was one of the best bowls I’ve ever had, full of flavor and warmth. The dates were fresh and delicious, and you can truly feel the minerals in the water — my skin felt amazing afterward. The tent was cozy and comfortable, with soft bedding and surprisingly great air conditioning. After a day in the sun, relaxing in the shade and ending the night by the fire felt like pure magic. I can’t wait to come back.

1 night at Splitrock Farm and Retreat

Tucked away on a dirt hill, the bright orange VW bus sits shaded against a huge boulder. It opens completely in the back for a cool breeze and paints a retro picture. There are two metal chairs besides it. I was expecting a picnic table, but that was absent. Luckily, I brought a table. The wooden platform below the bus was a really nice touch. I would have loved an outdoor rug to complete the look. I would recommend bringing your own lighting (lanterns, headlamps, lights). Overall, it's a unique, van life camping spot.

Our stay in the Eureka cabin was phenomenal. Jacob was an amazing host, the shower/bathroom area is so nice and well kept, the kitchen is stocked, the communal spaces are all comfortable, and it was overall just a wonderful experience. Will definitely book again, if you’re looking for some quiet not too far out of the city, stay here!
