Weekend Trip to Jason R.’s Land

This campsite was awesome. There were tons of shady spots to set up tents. Plenty of space around the fire pit too, so it never felt cramped and made hanging out really comfortable. The area is super pretty, with tall trees all around and a super peaceful vibe. And it's just a short hike down to Jenkinson Lake. The water was nice and cool, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. A perfect spot to chill or take a swim. We brought some collapsible kayaks and were able to paddle around the the little islands out there. At night, the sky is insane. A million stars twinkling overhead. You can see the milky way. Absolutely stunning. Jason was super cool and easygoing. His directions were clear and easy to follow, which made getting there no problem at all. He even let us use his parking pass for the lake, which made it super easy to get the kayaks on the water. We were too busy have such a good time that we ended up taking so few pictures, but I feel like even the best pictures wouldn't do it justice. Easily a 10 out of 10. Would totally recommend.

Kris's HipCamp is a great spot. She checked in with us on day one to ensure we had everything we needed. The site was clean. It was mostly shaded from the oak trees and has a beautiful view to rolling hills, oaks and wildlife. It was a short and peaceful walk to the river. The bathrooms were clean. The downsides for us would be that the Larry and Curley sites are very close to each other. We would only reserve it again if we were traveling with another family who could reserve the neighboring site - and in that case it would be a bonus because we could all be together. I would recommend the Moe site if possible because it's in a more private location just up the road. The other possible downside is the available beach is fairly small and just one small section of the river is accessible for swimming and water play. It was great for us because no one else was there when we were, but I can't imagine trying to share the small area with more campers.

Best hipcamp we have ever been to! The eastern gated site is very private and the trees provide good shade. Having three picnic tables was awesome for our group of 7 to spread out cooking and eating. We used the hot tub every night and grilled one night as well. The cherry on top is that there is a shower. Would recommend to a friend.

This place is located in the plumas national forest. It gives the feeling of lost in the woods with the perfect privacy. It has full hook ups and is very peaceful and there are several lakes around the area to adventure to with beautiful clear water. We definitely will be coming back!!.

This was a wonderfully quiet and restful HipCamp. We loved the super convenient location and the important amenities like water and power. The hosts were genuinely caring. I have owned this property since 1999. It was built in 1953. Penn Valley is so named because this is where the pens were that they brought the cattle to sort and ship to Sacramento for auction. This property was the lodging area and still has one old bunkhouse, which is a current rental. It has the oldest, largest in ground pool left in Nevada County. The water rights have been with this property for over 80 years so sprinklers run all summer. We have great well water for the house and our campers. I currently breed stock dogs, and Dexter cattle here and ride and train horses. I have ridden and trained horses for over 50 years. It is a pretty active place with lots of work and coming and going. We do chores at about 8 am. Horses frogs and dogs are majority of disturbances. It is close to everything but in a very small community. No lodging near though. The horticulture here is very old, some originally brought from England. Most of it is let grow natural. There are two coffee houses nearby, Honey and Cream and Crazy 4 Yogurt. It is a 30 minute drive to the river. It is a 15 minute drive to historic Nevada City and beautiful downtown Grass Valley with wonderful shopping, local bars and both fine and casual dining. Empire Mine is a an exquisite park and historical site only 10 min away. Spenceville Wildlife Refuge is a great day adventure also. Guests are welcome to watch us work horses and take care of animals. We have 4 barn cats too. Things run pretty old school here still and casual. We enjoy our work, our animals, our simple life, nature and the land. Learn more about this land: Level small working horse ranch, pool, near all recreation in northern California. Rural setting big lawns, garden, barn, horses and lots of activity. Feeding animals, clients coming and going etc. Walking distance to restaurants, park, shops e.t.c but rural. Site is near house secluded.

The back part of the property was a stop point for the stage line between Oroville and Bangor during the 1880, Then gold was discovered on the property. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, Agates and quartz crystals Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! Drive right up to this fun-filled, family-friendly campsite, easily accessible by cars and SUVs alike - though 4WD is helpful during the rainy season. This site features two seasonal streams that cross on the property, as well as bushes full of ripe blackberries - if you catch them at the right time, help yourself. Campers are welcome to stargaze in the field, create scavenger hunts for the kids, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquility. The streams dry up in late June and fill up in November when the rains start. Trank Family Farm is 30 minutes from Lake Oroville, 20 minutes from Oroville Wildlife Area and the Feather River - great for kayaking, swimming, and fishing! Be sure to check out the trails and seasonal waterfalls at Table Mountain, 35 minutes away. There are 2 Indian Casinos & Hotels in Oroville, as well as 2 golf ranges - and all with in 20 minutes of the camp site. The college town of Chico is about 30 minutes outside of Oroville. If you want to explore farther, Butte Mountain range and the city of Paradise, CA is 45 minutes away. We can't wait for you to come visit!

Quads, snow mobiles, xcountry skiing, hiking, downhill and horse back riding can all happen without getting back on the freeway. September 1, 2023. In and effort to make stayovers more comfortable, Site 4 and 5 are being removed and site 6 is being modified to host a full time 34Ft RV available for nightly use.

Quail Ridge RV Park

Quail Ridge RV Park has almost 17 acres nestled in the Plumas National Forest. We do NOT have direct water access. We are surrounded by six lakes, with Sly Creek and Lost Lake Reservoirs being the closest (about 3 mi. north of us), two major rivers and Feather Falls, the 3rd largest waterfall in California (trail is currently closed until Spring of '24). Outdoor activities abound with fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking trails and mountain biking trails. You can also explore the local rivers and try your luck at gold panning. Our park is primarily divided into three areas: (1) RV sites for weekend RV's that have full hook-ups, which include 30/50 amp. electric, water and septic connection (no pull through sites); (2) an area in the middle of the park where permanent residents live; and (3) an area for volleyball, badmitten and playground on the opposite side of the park. Sorry, but due to the always present fire danger, no wood burning fires are allowed. You may use your own propane fire ring or propane or charcoal grill. We have clean laundry and showers and flush toilets on the north side of the park. There is one shower and one flush toilet for each men and women that are handicapped accessible. Showers cost $1 for 12 minutes of hot water. Cell phone service is spotty. AT&T/Cricket and sometimes Verizon work the best. We now have free Wi-Fi in the park! Quail Ridge RV Park is very pet friendly. However, we cannot accept aggressive breed dogs, or Pit-Bull mixed dogs (sorry, but our insurance company restricts these breeds).
