Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Beautiful peace of property that I look forward to revisiting. Had easy access to the road, had great accommodations. Loved the hosts, very kind and helpful.

Mr. Greg and Miss Katie showed us tremendous hospitality upon arrival and throughout our stay. This was by far, one of the best, easiest camping experiences for my wife and I and our two young kids.

2 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

This place was AMAZING. The little cabin was gorgeous, simplistic but totally decked out with whatever we needed. It was pretty private, and overlooked an amazing patch of forest. Kelley was amazing, so very helpful and kind, she really made sure we had everything we needed. The area was pretty remote, but not challenging to find. Felt just lost enough, but safe the entire time! There’s a sweet little river nearby, and you can hear it from the campsite, it was a short little walk to get there. Cold but stunning. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. The tent camping looked amazing too, but my partner and I will for sure be back for the little cabin. All in all, the area was gorgeous, the host was phenomenal, the cabin was perfect. Can’t wait to go back! (also shoutout to Kelley’s neighbor Laurie, who was also really kind and generous!)

I would highly recommend this place, especially for families. We were in tent #10, nicely secluded on your own section of the babbling creek. #9 is right there, close but not too close, would be great if you were a group and booked 9 and 10 together! The bathrooms are clean, property immaculate, shallow little swimming hole perfect for kids. The carts provided to haul your stuff were great! I would definitely return. The meadow is beautiful also a great place to see some stars or play or watch wildlife.

Kelley and Pearl were both great. Pearl was stocked with everything you need, nice cookware, bed was comfy, property is beautiful, and so much to do nearby. Kelley shared some good recommendations for trails and maintains the camper very well. I definitely recommend!

Absolutely amazing! My kids and I loved the mini-glamping tent #9. My 10 year old referred to it many times as “paradise”. We were also impressed with Greg and Katie. So warm and welcoming! We’re already planning our next trip.

Our 2nd year here and have loved it both times. We've stayed in the mini-glamp site #9 - big bed, cot for our daughter, table and 2 chairs, extra comforter. We love that there's a little playground, clean bathrooms/showers (both are cleaned every night). Have enjoyed smores on Saturdays (bring your own!), floating in the creek, BBQ grills. We've been at #9 and our friends take 6A tent camping and it's perfect for us - easy creek access and right next to each other. Looking forward to next year. Thanks Greg and Laurie! :)

2 nights at Camp Nauvoo

Camp Nauvoo was thee perfect camp site for a family trip. We were a group of 4, 2 adults and 2 toddlers ages 2 and 4. The kids had never been camping and this was an amazing place to start. The scenery was beautiful, very thoughtful amenities, its distance to town is perfect, at the bottom of the hills there’s a McDonalds with a EV Charging station which was great. The Teepee was spacious and the floor mats were comfortable. Definitely pack enough blankets, the days are hot but the nights are freezing. I also like that the bathrooms were clean as well as the showers, they even had a diaper genie and changing table. Our favorite part was the huge green medow, there was even a deer grazing! The kids had a great time at the river with a 4ft swim hole which was within walking distance. Everyone was super nice and helpful as well. Will definitely be back.

2 nights at Camp Nauvoo

I cannot .... I repeat... CANNOT stress how amazing camp Nauvoo is. Both for just a fun camping weekend and for events. I had my wedding at Camp Nauvoo back in 2023. Now on our anniversary we come back for a camping trip and this is by far my favorite family tradition. Last year when we returned I was very very pregnant and the tents where well set up and very comfortable, I actually slept great. This year I had a 10 month old with me, and again the tents, campsites and communal areas were perfect. As any parent can tell you once your little one is walking and crawling every location outside of your baby proofed home is a lot of "no no no" and "spit that out". The tents where very clean and baby safe. There was the stove that required care when hot but the goes without saying. while we where using a pack and play we brought, Laurie let me know she has all that available at the site if you do not have your own and the lower bunk on the childs bed was a perfect play place as it was low to the ground and my little one loved just climbing up and down it for the majority of the trip. The outside cooking area and fire pit are well maintained and clean, well as clean as dirt can be, and a great place for the little to get nice and dirty while having the time of his life. And of course the bathrooms / showers where well maintained and a very easy place to clean the little one after and before bed. All and all this has been the best camp trip our family has taken.

The cabin has a great little deck that gets tons of sun. (And at night it makes for a good stargazing platform!)

3 nights at Victoria Forest

Nice and relaxing spot for a few days of quiet time. Outdoor shower was a bit wonky (large bag with a hose) and cumbersome but nothing too tough! The door looked like maybe a bear had tried to get in recently (which I actually think is cool, haha) and the fire pit was a nice place to relax in the cool evenings! Overall, rad spot!

1 night at Camp 🏕 Gold Dust Vineyard

Beautiful location, extremely quiet and peaceful, a perfect place to kick back in a hammock with a book. Easy to locate, can park right by the campsite, and the tent is quite comfortable. There are a lot of wineries tucked away here but make sure you do a wine tasting with Aaron -- he's making really great and interesting natural wines and ciders that take advantage of the unique location. There are some absolutely gorgeous rivers nearby so if you're visiting in the symmer, make time to take a dip in the Columnes. We really enjoyed our brief stay.

We loved staying here! The campsite was clean with a comfortable bed and fan inside the tent. The tents are sturdy and durable. We had a great time exploring the surrounding area and enjoyed resting at our campsite. The site is close to lake Wildwood, Nevada City and Grass Valley. John is a great host! He is very friendly and you can tell this place is his passion. We will definitely come back!

Our favorite part of Summer! This is the third year we’ve rented the cabins to kick off summer and will continue. The private swimming hole is absolutely wonderful. Rachael and Tom were both responsive and helpful. We can’t wait for next year.

Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos. Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!! •Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed. •Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Black stone grill outside. Fire pit , check if fires are allowed during booking •Separate bathroom with compost toilet or a short walk to outhouse. Outdoor shower in the making, message if available. FUN: •Lake Spaulding is about 1/4 mile hike down from the property. There is a boat launch and plenty of room to park it on the property if you want to bring a boat. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 5 acre pound which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. This has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with it's own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. We moved here in 2017 and purchased this land with the main goal to raise our large family here, but we have found that good things must be shared! There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites each have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins (litererally 200' away!). It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. We ask campers to use our property only for land use and river access, NO up or down river access is permitted AT ALL. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN. The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup. At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River. Guest access: The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house. River access: If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed). Come and enjoy the views of the river, forest, and wildlife! This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay. Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party. For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s). If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.
