Nice and relaxing spot for a few days of quiet time. Outdoor shower was a bit wonky (large bag with a hose) and cumbersome but nothing too tough! The door looked like maybe a bear had tried to get in recently (which I actually think is cool, haha) and the fire pit was a nice place to relax in the cool evenings! Overall, rad spot!

Our favorite part of Summer! This is the third year we’ve rented the cabins to kick off summer and will continue. The private swimming hole is absolutely wonderful. Rachael and Tom were both responsive and helpful. We can’t wait for next year.

3 nights at Unplug for nature, dogs, and kids

Michelle and Steven were so easy to communicate with and very responsive. We loved hearing the birds' songs in the morning light and falling asleep to the stars. We brought tents for outside sleeping as well. But the comfort of the bed in the cabin was much appreciated! There are so many games available and a great fire pit with seating. The outdoor shower is awesome! And the kitchen is more stocked than many rentals we've stayed in. I'd say that the cabin/property was just a bit closer to the road than I expected, but it didn't really bother us. And there are visible other houses/properties fairly close by. Again, was not an issue for us, but just wasn't expecting that. The property is peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for being so accommodating Michelle and Steven!

Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Somerset Camp

Had a great time. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Small cabin was very comfortable and clean. We did get lost in the last 2 miles in since gps was not that great but quickly found our way.

3 nights at Private River Oasis

I camped here with my dad and the setting was beautiful and peaceful. Fishing was fun (but mostly small fish), and the host was incredibly kind—he even gave us a ride back up the hill in his truck after a tough hike in. Important heads-up: You really need a 4WD to reach the campsite. We didn’t have one and had to haul our gear half a mile down a steep, rocky path. It was rough, especially for my dad in his late 70s. If you like hiking in, just be sure to pack light! The cabins are very basic (comfy beds, a few hooks, not much space), and we had ant issues even with food stored carefully. Heads up, the portapotty hadn't been cleaned in a while and smelled pretty bad when we got there. If you’re prepared and ideally have the place mostly to yourself, it’s a lovely river escape. The host alone makes it worth the visit.

4 nights at Rollins Lake Retreats, A/C & WIFI

We thoroughly enjoyed the Farmhouse Cabin at Rollins Lake. It was clear that the host put thought and care into ensuring we were comfortable; from the A/C and nice furnishings, to the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. They even provided a bath bomb for the outdoor tub (which was to die for, btw). The lake was a short, but strenuous hike away - but also a short drive. Loved the lake. Loved the Empire Mine State Park nearby. The cabin felt remote, but was close to town. We are grateful our dog was welcome. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Michelle and Stephen have created a wonderful home away from home with their cabin and tent camping site. They paid extra attention to details that made the experience fun and we felt well taken care of! The communication with them was great too! Thanks for letting us stay!

What a magical little cabin retreat! Amazing location, thoughtfully decorated and has everything someone would need!

3 nights at Lazy Bear Cabin

We had a wonderful stay at Jeff's cabin. Jeff was communicative and helpful. The cabin had all the basic necessities and worked well for my teenage daughter and myself. There was plenty of space to explore on the property, and the forest and creek areas were beautiful. If you travel during the summer months, be prepared for lots of mosquitoes. If you visit on a permissible burn day, I highly recommend using the fire pit for a campfire. It was a great way to end our trip. I suggest you bring your own extra toilet paper, towels, dish soap, and hand soap. Some of these items were provided, but it was nice to have extra since there are not any stores nearby. We look forward to visiting in the future.

Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Ranch

I booked both cabins for a surprise weekend birthday trip for my boyfriend and 10 of our friends. Four of us stayed in the two cabins and the rest camped down by the water. As soon as we arrived we knew we would have a great weekend. Beautiful swimming hole and an awesome grassy beach for lounging and camping. We spent our saturday swimming, paddling, playing games and cooking by the water. Truly idyllic and everyone agreed we would love to camp at this property again!

Camp was exactly as described. I loved it. Very private and I loved being able to walk to the pioneer trail to hike. The Yuba River-Emerald Pools was only a 20 minute drive. Gorgeous area. Will be back!

1 night at BALI HUTS ON PRIVATE YUBA

This hipcamp was easy to get to and yet off the beaten path and we enjoyed exploring the secluded stretch of the yuba river that was private . Staying in the Bali hut was a fun experience felt more like glamping . The workers on the land welcomed us so kindly.

Weekend Trip to Kimball Farm

Our kids had a blast at Kimball Farm! Our family of four (two adults, two kids) stayed at their new cabin. The cabin is beautifully crafted and is conditioned with ceilings fans and a heater/AC. This made our stay very comfortable and not limited by the weather. We are looking forward to visiting at other seasons of the year too. Our kids long the chickens, baby ducks, pond, toads, and lizards on the property. They also loved the outdoor shower. The hot water and plumbed toilets were a treat we don’t usually encounter while camping. The site is surrounded by California’s beautiful rolling hills. Spectacular views of the sunset. Town is 15 minutes away in case you forget something. You can find Yolo and Capay Valley wineries within a short drive. Host George and Susan are kind and attentive. Their dogs Sarah is a gentle dog. Our girls loved playing catch with her. Highly recommended!

Our 3 night stay with our two little boys couldn't have been better! We had almost everything we needed, and the things we didn't were already mentioned and came along with us. The boys found all the bugs and brought some extra dirt home with them. Absolutely would recommend for some country relaxation by the fire. Bring that mosquito spray though! 10/10.

From the moment we booked, Bobby was an amazing host—warm, attentive, and super communicative. He knew we wouldn’t have signal, so he made sure to be there right on time to guide us in. When we arrived, he gave us a full tour and made it clear everything on the property was for us to enjoy. We felt welcome and at home every moment. The open-air kitchen in the forest is pure magic, and it has everything you could ever need, from pans to spices. One of our favorite moments was connecting to his Spotify and playing our music while cooking under the trees. There’s always a fire going— perfect for s’mores, deep talks and stargazing 💫 The place is incredibly dog-friendly🐶 We have two Australian Shepherds who were allowed off-leash the whole time. They had the best time! During the day, we hiked and explored. At night, we soaked in the jacuzzi right outside our room—perfect temperature, peaceful vibes. Before leaving, Bobby recommended Silver Lake to continue our adventure. And something really special—he helped me find a nature souvenir (a beautiful branch!) for my travel tradition. Truly one of our most memorable stays. We’ll be back! Thank you, Bobby.

This land was home to the Miwok, then European and Chinese miners, then a cattle rancher. It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. We moved here in 2017 and purchased this land with the main goal to raise our large family here, but we have found that good things must be shared! There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites each have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins (litererally 200' away!). It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. We ask campers to use our property only for land use and river access, NO up or down river access is permitted AT ALL. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

We chose the cabin, because our little adventure was only 1 night, which seemed too short for setting up a campsite. The cabin met our need perfectly. We had air mattresses and sleeping bags with us; 1 person used the double bed, and the other 3 opted to use air mattresses. I would happily return for another stay!" There is a large fire pit, horseshoes, and a hammock by the creek. Seclusion and quietude in nature yet 4 minutes to downtown Nevada City, 15 min to rivers & lakes, and 45 min to ski resorts. This is the place for people who are tired of rentals that lack amenities or aesthetic quality. This is also a non-toxic, eco-friendly sanctuary. There are four bedrooms in the main house and an optional separate studio to rent. The main house has two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with a twin bed and a twin air mattress (if needed), and an enclosed den with a queen murphy bed. This allows 8 people to sleep comfortably. There are 3 bathrooms, one with a lux freestanding soaking tub with forest views. For 9-11 guests, or if you just want extra space for a smaller party, you can rent the separate studio for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee. This is discounted from our regular rates of $210 for 3 people and $188 for 2 people, and our regular cleaning rate of $140. The studio is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and living area with sofa for a child or young adult to sleep on. The main house kitchen is fully equipped-- this is not like other rentals that lack wine glasses or cooking pans! We have a Ninja blender, instant pot/slow cooker, toaster, French press coffee maker, coffee grinder, lots of dishes and utensils, state of the art drinking water filtration system, gas oven and stove, baking dishes and pans, and more. You'll also be provided with organic cooking oil and organic spices. The owner specializes in non-toxic home design so everything from the mattresses and bedding to the soap & shampoo are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and/or organic. You have complete reign of the 8 acre property, including the hot tub, and private creekfront park with gazebo, fire pit, and horseshoe pit. Sometimes we rent out a studio on the property (or you can rent it-- see details above), but studio guests do not have access to acres of the property that are just for you, so the hot tub, fire pit, gazebo, horse shoe pit, and more is yours. If you want total privacy, we can block out the studio from being rented for an additional $75/night, or you can rent it for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee (see details above). Pack and play, twin air bed, and dining table booster seat with tray are available! Please just request them before you arrive, and bring your own sheet for the pack and play. Air bed is usually needed if 8 guests are staying in the main home (if studio is not rented). It can snow in Nevada City in the winter (beginning in December or January and through March). If staying here when it snows, you will need snow chains and/or a 4WD vehicle to access the home. No parties or events, and please ask if you want to invite anyone to the home who is not in the guest count at booking. We love dogs and do not discriminate against breeds! Please just confirm at time of booking that your pup will not go to the bathroom in the house or chew any items in the house.
