This is a great place to get away and come camp here in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a perfect location for tent camping or come park your trailer or Motorhome/Bus. We have great hiking in the near area and 5 miles away there is great mountain biking trails. A world renoun mountain bike spot with intermediate to experienced trails for riders of all levels. 5 miles down the road as well is buzzard lagoon and is a great Dirt biking/4-wheeling location. It is a fun spot for all off road inthusiast! Your camping site is on a flat plateu and is an ideal spot to park your trailer, motorhome or tent camp. With Complete privacy with views of the pacific ocean and South county's Monterey bay with a 180 degree view as well as San jose and Morgan Hill. For the wine inthusiast, Loma Prieta winery is 5.5 miles away along with Windy Oaks Winery that is 3.7 miles away that is located on the "Wine trail" that has alots of winerys to offer in a beautiful location. A Day of fun for the family at Gilroy Gardens that is 15.5 miles away. The beach is 30-40 minutes away with great surfing and body boarding up and down the coastline. When in route once you get off the paved road from north or south stay on the dirt road for 15-20 more minutes. The location is very private it is on its own parcel with a gate. This site is sheltered by the manzanitas and pines of this chaparral community. Adventure seekers will find paradise here!  Mount Madonna Park with miles of trails is 20 minutes down the road. You can dump your septic there as well!  Horseback riding rentals are located near the park as well as an archery range.  Demonstration forest is 15 minutes down the road, with miles of mountain biking. Spend a day at one of the beaches in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Rio Del Mar, Davenport, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, or Carmel and return to your private oasis. Or Explore Silicon Valley from this centrally located parcel. Kim Son Meditation Center and Mount Madonna Center are approximately 15 minutes away. There are also wonderful wineries throughout the mountains here. The trip to the site will begin with a three mile drive on a private dirt road.  Being on the very top of a mountain brings more seasonality than the surrounding cities.   Please be prepared for any kind of extreme weather. Summer: Shade is highly recommended it can get into triple digits. *Spring/fall: Temperatures are generally mild but high winds are possible. *Winter: Typically cold and windy. *During rainy/muddy conditions 4x4/AWD is highly recommended.  It is possible for it to get windy, foggy, rainy, hot and sunny, and even sometimes snowy. Please note: the nearest grocer is 30 minutes from this site. Emergency supplies are available for delivery to your campsite. Cell phone reception is good on most carriers.  Pets are allowed.  Enjoy your time howling at the moon, star gazing, bird watching/wildlife viewing, or relaxing with your favorite libation. Don't forget your camera! Since this is our first year renting our land we have found that August is a high wasp season time in the mountains. We are doing everything humanly possible to hunt down each and every Wasp for your enjoyment. With this in mind we ask you use the provided bug repellent, keep the lid to the trash closed, and do not pour grease anywhere you do not want wasps.

I can’t say enough great things about our experience. Cecilia and her husband were so accommodating. They helped us bring our stuff down to the campsite with their ATV and trailer. They also provided a fire pit and propane for our use. The campsite was absolutely stunning. We were the first guests to stay at a campground they are opening up and my girlfriend and I both agree it’s the best site we’ve ever stayed at. There’s breathtaking views, spectacular sunsets, grand pines, hammocking trees, and privacy. If we find ourselves wanting to camp in Santa Cruz again, we will be back as we can’t think of much else to top this experience.

Weekend Trip to Double Bear

Mathilda is such a wonderful host. Her communication, attention to detail, generosity, and affection to our children quickly made our holiday weekend a lovely memory for all our families. She had a gift basket with a smores kit to welcome us into the kitchen Yurt. The facilities are clean and beautiful. All of us collectively commented how warm and cozy and welcoming the entire space is. All the Yurts had a fireplace that made the experience that much more cozy and warm. The restroom with two showers and toilets were perfect, and didn't smell at all. The trails were pleasant to hike with our kids. Reaching the top of the property allowed us to see the Santa Cruz mountains, and was a great enough workout for the kids. Double Bear was a delight for all four of our families when we stayed 3 days and 3 nights over labor day weekend. Since our group was 12, of which there were 7 adults, 4 kids (ages 4 to 5), and one infant, we rented out the entire space. Our kids loved the hammock, the fire pit to make smores, the hot tub to relax, and the kitchen yurt to do several arts and crafts. We even appreciated the TV, so we could have a kids movie night. If you are able to vacation with other families with kids around the same age, they will entertain themselves around the property, and even willingly go hiking, or create an imaginary stage play at the small theatre. We stayed inside Double Bear the entire holiday weekend. Our kids can't wait to come back and visit Double Bear again!

Weekend Trip to Santa Cruz Mountain Camping

This sweet space is the perfect getaway, and so fairly priced for the comforts and beauty! Arriving was easy, the space was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and the outhouse was even equipped with a stand-up toilet, TP, water, hand soap, mirror, and light -- better than most portapotty experiences. The tent stays very cool, never directly in the sun, with beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. You do get the beauty of dozens of different morning bird calls, and nighttime crickets -- only thing is there was a mechanical buzzing sound that would go on and off nearby every hour or so but nothing too bad. There is a quaint lunchtable for unloading quick meals from summit center grocery. Solar powered timed outdoor lights. Ample comfy clean blankets and spots to rest/unwind. And within driving distance of essentially anywhere you'd want to visit in the santa cruz mountains. A very thoughtful responsive host too, and very dreamy comfortable glamping experience, will definitely try to make it back here again thank you Shelly :)

We loved taking our camper van out to Matt's land. He was a communicative host and gave clear instructions for arrival. The camping spots are spacious, and the nights in the valley are gorgeous. There are quite a few mudcracks and gopher holes in the ground on the area in particular where we camped, so just be cautious of young ones or dogs running around, it's easy to trip if you're not watching where you are walking

The site was immaculate and very well set up. The beds were by far the most comfortable of our entire trip, especially after staying in various locations along the way. All the amenities were clearly documented, and the kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with everything you could need—and more. Our host, Mathilda, was extremely helpful with the visit and provided clear instructions. Her husband was also a great help in getting us into the site. Without a doubt, this was the best experience of our San Francisco to LA road trip. The kids absolutely loved their surprise yurt adventure—a beautiful mountain-side setting complete with a hot tub and fire. 🔥 A fantastic experience that we would happily recommend to anyone looking for something a little different.
