The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

Our property is .3 acres. It is on a semi rural street, private property in the midst of nature. The little cabin sits above a creek which flows and roars like a river in the winter. In the spring enjoy the beauty of the wild flowers and blossoming trees. The deer come in and out- it is difficult to maintain a vegetable garden! We are ten minutes from the Samuel P Taylor camp ground and 30 to 40 minutes from the coastal trails in the Point Reyes National sea shore. Nearby, hiking trails abound, There are trail maps in the cabin. Tomales bay is 30 minutes down the road.
Our property is home to a small grove of redwoods, one very large redwood, many fir trees and old ivy covered trees that line the creek. The fences on either side of the property crawl with wild grape vines and a large cherry tree stands next to the cabin. The bathroom is in the main house. This is a good home base for hiking, biking, resting and showering.

The perfect solo escape!
Treat yourself to a quiet getaway for one at this cozy, clean and comfortable cabin on our rural farm, between two rivers, on Sherman Island. Located in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area at the confluence of the San Joaquin River, Sacramento River, and the eastern terminus of San Francisco Bay, Sherman Island is known for its wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets, and its dark sky for stargazing opportunities.
The property is surrounded by alfalfa fields, grazing cattle, sheep, and a wildland habitat populated with migratory and native birds, animals, and plants.
The one-room cabin has a bed and clawfoot bathtub with hot water offering a peaceful escape on our 5-acre tree-lined farm. Here you can listen to birdsong instead of the sounds of the city. This is an ideal cabin for birdwatchers, writers, plein air painters, nature photographers, stargazing, windsurfers/kiteboarders, meditation, or some stress-free, peaceful reset time.

The space
The antique Indonesian cottage is made of beautifully hand carved and hand colored teak wood, and is quiet, cozy and romantic with lovely views. It abuts a large private deck and hot tub. Just a few steps across the deck is the very large, luxurious, art filled, centrally heated private bathroom and sitting area. The cottage itself is unheated although there is a premium electric mattress pad with separate controls on the California King bed. That and the hot tub make for cozy sleeping on chilly winter nights

Welcome to our land in the beautiful wilderness of upper Calistoga. Our land is a nature experience, with some development of trails and amenities, at our family land just 10 minutes outside of Calistoga, with wineries, spas, and restaurants. The hilltop (where Coral Cabin is located) has electricity and wifi, and is a common area for all campers; . The main house and deck is not part of the hipcamp; the tenants are a nice family and caretakers of the land, but not the host.
Our sites are no frills, cute and rustic, and “user responsible” meaning the price includes basic “leave no trace”cleaning guidelines. Because of this, communication with Dan is super important to ensure expectations are clear for you and us, our land is respected, and you have a great time!
Rules for all sites, read before you book!
1. We provide trash bags and ask that you take all trash and recycling to the bottom of the driveway, in the 'hipcamp' trash bin provided (smaller grey bin by mailbox).
2. We have a compost toilet system designed by a graduate of the Occidental Ecology Center permaculture course. It has pros and cons, but when operated correctly, it is a good system: All you gotta do is add mulch (which is any dried leaves or grass), on top of your own biz and it begins to break down waste immediately, including smell. If in doubt, add more mulch; you can find it in a bin by the toilet or gather a handful at time of service. Or: There are also nice coffee shops in town:)
3. The nature of our land being wild, there are no wood fires allowed. We have propane fire pits, and ask guests to use extreme caution with bug candles or smoking anything.
We currently have 3 campsites. Please see descriptions for each campsite access and services available. *The Hilltop/Coral Cabin has the most access, Wi-Fi, cooking appliances, and the best views. Each campsite has a gas camping stove and compost toilet.
You will see lots of wildlife! Beautiful birds song every morning, little lizards everywhere, turkeys, a toad here and there! You can hike the extent of our 34 acres on fire roads that lead to the top of the Whaleback Ridge, seen in the distance from all camps. That would be an epic sunset hike!

Weekend Trip to Unhitched Snug Harbor RV Park & Marina
Our family loved our stay at the Snuggle Inn! My boys had a good time fishing off the docks and swimming in the water. There was room for the kids to run around and even a little park playset for them to play on.
It was over 100 degrees during our stay, but the AC runs nice and cold in the living room. We set up a fan to circulate air to the bedroom, since it got a little hot back there.
Depending on your route, check to make sure the ferries are open! No fault of the hosts, but the main ferry - The Real McCoy was closed when we went, so it added an hour and a half to our drive time.

Weekend Trip to Meadow camping in Bolinas
Had an amazing, relaxing stay at Meadow Camping in Bolinas. The property strikes a perfect balance between rustic camping and thoughtful comfort. Waking up in the meadow surrounded by sheep, chickens, and towering cypress trees felt incredibly peaceful, and the setting has a special, almost magical atmosphere.
The shared amenities were a huge highlight. The outdoor kitchen was well-equipped, the hot showers and flush toilets were clean and convenient, and soaking in the hot tub after a day of hiking or exploring the coast was hard to beat. It's clear that the hosts have put a lot of care into creating a welcoming space.
The location is fantastic. Loved spending our evenings under the stars and our mornings enjoying the sounds of the farm.
If you're looking for a unique camping experience with beautiful surroundings, friendly hosts, and amenities that make outdoor living easy, this is an exceptional spot. Sirima and Walter are incredibly thoughtful hosts as well. Feeling grateful and thankful to have experienced the weekend at their spot.

Weekend Trip to Swallowtail Historic Art Studio
This place feels like a labor of love.
Communication was excellent from the start. Bill provided clear instructions, stayed in touch, and made us feel welcome. You can tell hosting is something he genuinely loves.
Although we didn’t get to meet Michelle, her presence is woven throughout the property. The gardens, eclectic treasures, and artwork create a magical atmosphere.
The cottage was wonderful. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the dual-controlled heated mattress was a favorite feature. The natural light was breathtaking and made it easy to slow down and simply be present.
We loved soaking in the hot tub under the stars and were lucky enough to see the resident deer in the evening and again outside our window the next morning. The bathtub, stained glass, and artistic touches made the stay feel special. Breakfast on the deck with homemade bread, fruit, tea, and coffee was the perfect way to start the day.
It was fun thinking about the creative energy that has moved through these spaces. Members of the Grateful Dead spent time here, and there is a wonderful sense of artistry, history, and community woven throughout the property.
A tip for future guests: bring a robe for the cozy walks between the cottage and separate bathroom area. Also, this is a cottage with character, not a modern hotel, so if the occasional spider or tiny bug bothers you, come prepared for a more rustic experience.
This was the perfect weekend getaway. Already thinking of our return.

2 nights at The Olive Farm
Beautiful site with lots of room to run around and a cozy cabin! My teenage sons and I stayed here and we had a blast rowing the boat on the pond, horsing around in the yard, swinging on the swing. There's a huge largemouth bass that hangs out at the pier, but we didn't try fishing. It has a double bed as well as a twin plus a roll-out underneath, so room for 4, but it was a bit of a squeeze for my 6' tall son. Unfortunately we came on the same day that campfire restrictions went in, so we didn't get to try out the fire pit, but we made the best of it.

Beautiful setting and so very unique. Very convenient to get to after the show at Rancho Nicasio. Luxuriously warm and comfortable bed! So amazing to be able to soak in the hot tub on a blustery evening. Hosts were easy to communicate with and we enjoyed meeting and talking with Bill. Very much looking forward to visiting again. Dans land was beautiful and the location was great in terms of exploring the area. There is a lot of poison oak at Manzanitas so I’m might do the shady oak site if you have a dog. The shed has a fair amount of creepy crawlies but the futon was really comfortable and we liked staying in it. The site isn’t tended to very much so plan on bringing your own gear in case items are missing or out of commission. Overall it’s a great way to explore and experience the area if you’re on a budget. I’d definitely come back!

Beautiful setting, blissfully quiet. Bathrooms were great. Very easy walk to and from Smiley's in town. Hosts were so easy to connect with.. Thanks Sirima for sharing your bucolic surroundings. So looking forward to returning.

Delightful stay with friendly and warm hosts! The cabins are in the shared camp area but still feel private and peaceful. They also have comfy mattresses and power to charge phones etc. A quick walk or drive gets you into town.

If you are lucky enough to have your stars line up for a stay a Swallowtail Studios, you have jump at the chance! Bill is an incredibly gifted host. So caring and intent on making his guests fell safe and at home. What a magical place!!!

We really enjoyed our stay. It was wonderful to watch the baby lambs in pasture, and be within walking distance of the ocean and many great trails. The facilities were also very convenient. Love the hot tub, thanks for a great stay

With pets
The cabin was small as advertised, but warm and comfortable. Linens, soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. The marina staff are very friendly and helpful. The marina is quiet and peaceful in the off-season. Fantastic birds and beautiful views!
