We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

We were only able to stay one night and just wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin was nice and cosy, the super moon was bright and the dogs were so welcoming! 💓 I really wish we could have spent more time at the farm but grateful for our stay!

Wondernut Farm is fantastic. The lookout was gorgeous, calm and super cozy. Despite an overnight 41 degree F temp, we were warm and the amenities were fantastic. The farm is gorgeous as well, we got to see pigs, goats and sheep, and may daughter had the time of her life. Matt and Eve were super welcoming, and everyone was kind. Can't say enough good things.

1 night at Wondernut Farm

We loved this little cabin and the entire stay at Wondernut Farm! Eve met us on arrival around a roaring wood stove in the hand-built glass communal living room. We met all the sweet dogs and then she showed us around the expansive shared kitchen before walking us up the hill to our adorable cabin. The huge window has a great view of the hillside, and we laid in bed watching shooting stars. The bed was SO comfortable, with a thick foam topper and nice sheets and pillows. The next morning, we got to meet the goats, sheep, and pigs as well as learn a little bit about the cheese making process. Highly highly recommend — we hope to go back!

A wonderful place to leave the city and soak up life on a sanctuary. Matt appreciates those campers who want to share the space kindly and enjoy the outdoors with intention. This space also provides so much to both novice and lifelong campers and is great for animal-loving children too. Don’t just visit to sleep and hike, make sure you spend time in community too!

3 nights at Yosemite Westlake Camp

Mac’s cabin was a comfortable and beautiful experience. We enjoyed each moment that he came by and spoke with us. He took the time to check in on us with friendly laughter. The restrooms and showers were very conveniently located. The amenities like the microwave and heater were very handy. At the end of our trip, Mac was very friendly enough to leave us with hand picked tomatoes and a watermelon from his garden. Not to mention that I made an oversight on our trip dates and Mac was more than accommodating to push up our stay and adjust the dates. He’s very helpful and his campground is top notch across the board. Highly recommend would come again.

We very much enjoyed our stay in the Long the Way cabin. Wifi /service was a downfall but..camping. They out a lot of effort into the little ammenities in our cabin down to bandaids and cleaning supplies and coffee and snacks and bottled water. They were accommodating when we asked for anything. Wondernut farm is clearly a labor of love, which shows in the cute and comfortable guest cabin and thoughtfully designed common space. We enjoyed our night in the cabin, especially the outdoor shower shed after our Yosemite adventure. Matt was very welcoming and kind, and we enjoyed chatting with him and other guests. We would absolutely return!

We had a wonderful stay! The location was perfect—close to the national parks, and Clovis is such a charming town. As a family of four (two adults and two kids), the RV was just right for us: comfortable, cozy, and with everything we needed. The pool was a big hit, and we loved having it to relax after our outings. We visited Yosemite and even stopped by the waterpark in Fresno on our way out, which made the trip extra fun. The host was very welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommend!

We stayed in a bunk cabin with our 9month old baby and had a great time. Mac is a wonderful host! The twin cabin is small but great if you wanna camp with some amenities i.e. ac, a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. It was hot out in July, about 90 degrees during the day, but the cabin stayed cool with the ac. Rainbow pool was very close and a great way to spend the first day in. Recommend hiking up river a bit. There a lots of spots to hang out not just the big main hole with the waterfall. Yosemite is about an hour away and always so beautiful. This is a great spot for families looking for a quiet, safe spot to camp near Yosemite.

Weekend Trip to Wondernut Farm

I would recommend this place with some caveats. - Bring your own shampoo etc and towels. This is not an Airbnb. Treat it like a camping trip with nicer amenities, and you won’t be disappointed. The shower structures were lovely and smelled like cedar, but yes there are spiders. - Expect dust. The common kitchen is an open structure and we visited during dry season - things are dusty. But it is equipped most things you’d need - pots, pans, knives and such - and fresh well water. - The number of occupants in the listing are absolute MAX if you put sleeping beds on the floor. It’s not the number of people that can sleep on beds. Each unit has one bed, and two people sleep comfortably. This isn’t what we expected, but they were able to set up cots so our kids can sleep. - The Lookout is an open structure and it does get quite cold at night. They have blankets but bring extra. We had a great time here - the animals are so sweet and we got to see their milking process in the morning. The bathrooms are clean and the back opens to the field - it was a unique experience I never knew I needed lol! Again, if you pack like you would for a camping trip, you’re set and will have a wonderful visit.
