Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. We have installed hardwood laminate flooring throughout guesthouse; some of the pictures show the prior cement floor. There is wifi, Verizon and At&t get good reception. We use our phones for internet and streaming. There is a 50 inch TV and dvd player. Bring your own hardware/cords if you want to stream from your phone. We have goats if you would like to feed or with. My wife and I live on the property in a house about 200 feet away. You will have as much privacy/interaction as you desire. Our garage is attached to the guesthouse, so I may need to access it occasionally during your stay. We also travel so you may have the property to yourself. We do have two dogs on the property. The Australian healeris very friendly. The Anatolian shepherd is a watch dog so he will bark at you upon arrival and then settle down and leave you alone. You may hear him barking at night at any moving wildlife (deer, turkey, etc.). The last 4.5 miles of the drive to the property is on a winding road. Please drive carefully.

Weekend Trip to River Oaks Camp

Glamping at the yurt at River Oaks Camp was a peaceful getaway on a lovely property with impromptu visits by deer, turkeys, woodpeckers and toads. Wonderful hosts, friendly dogs, and engaging farm animals, and the river would have been terrific on a hot summer day. Apple Hill farms and businesses are a short drive away. Recommended.

Although our trip was just a short evening experience and we had to return home earlier than planned, our time at the dome tent was unforgettable. The setting provided complete privacy, breathtaking natural scenery, and incredible star gazing that made the night feel magical. We also loved the chance to feed the pigs — such a fun and unique feature of the property. The host was exceptionally communicative and responsive, making everything seamless despite our brief stay. We look forward to returning for a longer visit in the future!

3 nights at Camp Nauvoo

We love glamping at Camp Nauvoo! The camp owner and hosts are always super friendly and go out of their way to make sure we enjoy our time! We go for my birthday and Greg always is so sweet by giving me a cupcake during the campfire time! The glamping tents are well taken care of, the restrooms and showers clean and there is plenty to explore! We loved watching the deer and turkeys that come into the meadow. We will definitely be back!

Nice tent with. amenities. The organic restaurant in town is much appreciated. Being close to Placerville is great. Bring your friends and family for a weekend with lots of lawn games available. Just be sure to bring extra lights and flashlights.

magical spot. I will definitely be back. The New flushing toliet was a major glamping perk. Id say bring ear plugs just in case of barking dogs at night as sound carries in a valley (this is typical for a farm/neighbors to have working dogs staying alert for wildlife etc). Hosts were so dang sweet and the River was beyond perfect for a full day of swimming and relaxation. The steep hike back up to the yurt from the river was quick but could be a challenge for those with mobility issues etc. so pack light to the river. Don't miss this well cared for Oasis!

Loved our experience (2nd time) in the bell tent! All we needed to bring were (warm) sleeping bags. We found some plank wood pieces to prop up the cots as the ground is on a slightly incline and slept very comfortably once we got the set up right. Loved the proximity to bathroom, food storage, bbq, river, playground, etc. esp with young kids.

1 night at Camp Electra in Mokelumne Hill

We loved our stay on Ryan’s land in his VW Vanagon under the cedars and pines. Loved the simplicity of the set up, along with the great outdoor shower/toilet he designed. Ryan was a great host, we loved chatting with him about our love for Volkswagens. If we don’t have our bus going next trip, we’d definitely love to be back!

Wonderful camp site, fun drive to the location (not suitable for low cars), accommodations were comfortable, and everything was clean. Shower has low water pressure BUT it was still awesome! Camp stove worked great (be sure to bring all of your cooking stuff). Unfortunately the fridge was only for two night stays and we almost had a horrible experience if we didn't bring ice. I suggest you bring a large ice chest to hold everything food related or else you'll be stressing!

4 nights at Camp Nauvoo

What a magical place and what a magical time! I spent most of my days sitting on the edge of a hill taking in all the beauty, getting to walk (somehow safely - no stickers!) barefoot all over the grounds like a wild person, scrambling far upstream in the creek with my family and our friend's kids for a great place to sit in the water under dappled sunlight while my son searched for crawdads, playing games in the meadow, staring at stars... There were deer and pheasants and bullfrogs, tiny lizards and even a butterfly all of whom literally hung out on us, and there's nothing like being able to pick a delicious, ripe blackberry (or 15) everywhere you go and watching the city kids you're with get to do the same. On top of that, we ended up hitting it off so well with the staff member who checked us in, Katie (the coolest!), that we even exchanged contact info! The rest of the staff we met were great too and felt available for whatever we needed. I felt like site #11 was especially picturesque, and that you got even more forest "real estate" that felt like all yours up there on the hill, but we do have our eyes on a couple spots closer to the river (and the bathrooms) for possible future visits. I could go on, but overall we were all so grateful to spend time in this gem of a place.

We had a ton of fun. Geoffrey was helpful with any questions we had and was very nice! We were able to hike to hidden falls regional park. It was great! We also saw deer, wild horses, cows, and got to feed his pigs. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing glamping experience
