Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN. IF YOU GET DELAYED, FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE OTHER CAMPERS YOU MAY CONSIDER WAITING AND ARRIVING THE NEXT MORNING. THERE ARE NO CHECKINS AFTER 9:00.

This large camping site is located behind the fire bowl area with it's own privacy fence and is a very private large site.   It will allow up to 2 large tents to be set up.  It does require transporting your items via carts that we provide to the other side of the creek.  This is a great site for a large family or two families that want to camp together. We have 10x10 platform to place a tent on at the site if desired. #7 Group Tent Site

#7 Nex Pierce - Group Tent Site  This is a group campsite. It is located across the bridge and up the hill on a level site.  It is one of three group site (the others are #14 and the large group site #17).   This site acommodates a base of 10 campers but you can add up to 2 additional campers.   It is a nice square site that can accommodate several large tents.  We provide carts to help you transport your equipment.  If you need to accommodate a few more campers - check out #8 that is right nearby. Often we have large groups (over 20) that book #7, #8 #15 and #15A that ensures they have the entire second level to themselves. This group site is also good for those with small children that do not want them on the creek. #15 Blackfoot Large Tent Camping Creekview  (previously a group site) This fairly large camping site is located on the plateau.  You get to it by passing over the bridge, past the teepees and up the slope to the plateau sites and then left past #7 and #8.  It is a fairly large rectangle site and is located between #8 and #15A further up the pathway. The site has its own picnic table along and has access to a shared BBQ (which we provide the propane).   There is a propane fire pit that is available for ambiance (requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra).   There is space for two large tents.   Of course there is a picnic table as well. #17 Group Tent Site

#17 Modoc - group camping on creek This is our largest group site that can accommodate a base of 15 campers but you can add up to 5 additional campers. There are two other group sites - #14 is across the road and creek and #7 is up on the plateau.   If your group is larger than 20 we would recommend considering #7 (12), #8 (6) and #15 (8) and #15A (4) - that can accommodate up to 30 all on the plateau. This site provides more privacy and is located by itself along the river.  It is across from the volleyball court and playground. It is a long site and easily allows for 2 large tents and multiple medium tents along the creek.  It is further away from the majority of campers and requires a short walk (approximately 4 minutes) to the lodge and restrooms.  There is a portapotty about 1 minute away. This site allows you to park two vehicles next to your site and and additional cars nearby..   We provide several picnic tables and a propane fire pit for ambiance not cooking (requires purchase of propane cannister on site).  The site has its own BBQ (we provide the propane) and two picnic tables.  It also has a large food box for storage for unopened food items).   The site is private and is further away from the majority of campers and requires a short walk (approximately 4 minutes walk) to the lodge/restrooms.  The handicapped porta-potty is closer.  This site also allows you to park two cars right next to your site. #14 Sioux - Group Tent along the Creek This site is a customer favorite and is located along the lower creek and offers three levels. This site acommodates a base of 10 campers but you can add up to 2 additional campers. There are two other group sites - #17 (largest) and is across the road and creek and #7 that located on the plateau.   There is a large platform (16x16) available to pitch one of your tents on the upper level.   This site has its own BBQ (we provide the propane) and food box (for unopened food items).  The site also has a propane firepit for ambiance (this requires the purchase of propane on site - add in extras).   The site is private and is further away from the majority of campers and requires a short walk (approximately 4 minutes) to the lodge/restrooms.  The handicapped porta-potty is 1 minute.  This is one of the only sites that allows you to park your cars at the site and WE WILL CONSIDER A SMALL CAMPER VAN OR TRAILER UPON REQUEST.   Please read the property description that describes important details about the other camp amenities, camp rules, and reservation details including check in and checkout times.

#1 Glamping Safari Tent on Creek

Family Glamping Safari Tent #1 - Arapaho  (NO PETS IN #1) This large Family Glamping Safari Tent features all the comforts of home.  It is located past the lodge and restrooms along a private stretch of the creek (only #1 and #2) are located along this stretch of creek.  Only those with reservations in the glamping tent #1 and #2 are allowed in this area.  It is located closest to the restrooms and the lodge is right around the corner. The large safari tent is located on a platform and has a 8' porch for hanging out in the evening.  The actual tent is 10 x 16 that allows you to open both sides that are meshed to allow ventilation.  The tent features a queen size comfortable bed and a kitchen table with chairs.  There is a bunkbed for the kids and a wood burning stove to keep you warm in the spring and fall.  We provide the bedding, towels and amenities.   The tent also has electricity to charge your electronic devices and it has a fan for those hot days. #3 Miwok - Large Family Teepee Creekside (NO PETS). Come experience a real teepee. This 18' teepee is located across from the creek and is centrally located right across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. It is right next to a slightly smaller 16' teepee (#13).   This teepee was upgraded and replaced in Spring 2023.  We do not allow pets in our teepees. It is perfect for the family experience. Inside we provide four thick comfy mats covered in a sheet and 2 teepee chairs.  We provide towels and amenities. All you have to do is bring your own sleeping bags and cooking supplies.  This space will allow 4 in the teepee. If you have friends that would like to join you there is room to pitch a tent next to the teepee for an additional 2 campers Outside of the teepee we provide 4 andirondack chairs that sit around a propane fire pit for ambience only (requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra).  There is a large picnic table at your site.  Across from your site are a couple BBQs that are available for use. #11 Apache - Canvas Safari Platform Tent This canvas platform tent is a short walking distance up the hill but it is a hill and the farthest away from the lodge and most love it since it is very private.  You head aup cross the hill - past #3A and #7.   This requires transporting your equipment in the carts provided.  Many like this site due to its private location. This is a medium site has a 10x12 safari tent on a platform that features openings on both ends with mosquito netting and also a window overlooking the creek. Inside the tent features 2 individual cots with pads and a bunk bed cot.  The site accommodates 4 and there is space to pitch a small tent next to the canvas tent platform if there is more than 4 people in your party.     Outside the tent we provide a propane firepit (that requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra).  This site has its own BBQ due to its location (we provide the propane) and a picnic table.   Please read the property description that describes important details about the other camp amenities, camp rules, and reservation details including check in and checkout times.

Outside the tent there is a propane firepit for ambiance (to use the firepit it requires the onsite purchase of propane - add as an extra) with 2 andirondack chairs.  The site has a small picnic table as well as your own hammock to take that afternoon nap!  Did I mention that you have the entire creek as your front door?  #9 and #10 share a BBQ and there is a wood food box to store your unopened items. This is a camp favorite and many call it the honeymoon tent due to its location and privacy. This site does not have electricity.  This site does allow dogs. We are excited to upgrade this position in 2024 from a tent camping site to a new Tree Fort that features 3 cots. The space is 8 x 9 so a little smaller and so we set it up with a bunkbed cot and then 2 4" sleeping mats (same as our teepees) that accommodate up to 4 people. Come experience a new adventure sleeping up in the trees . It has its own picnic bench and propane firepit that can be used with the purchase of propane on site. This is a site located between the pathway between the creekside and plateau sites.  You get to it by passing over the bridge, past the teepees and halfway up the slope to the plateau sites.  It is a smaller site located above #3 and below #7/8.  During the spring it has its own creek that run along the side of it off the hillside.   The site has its own picnic table along and has access to a shared BBQ (which we provide the propane).   There is a propane fire pit that is available for ambiance (requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra).   Please read the property description that describe important details about the other camp amenities, camp rules, and reservation details including check in and checkout times.

BRAND NEW BELL TENT EFFECTIVE MAY 2024. This particular site has easy access located directly across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. The bell tent is located right along the creek located near the tipis #13 and #3 as well as directly below #3A. This is a 14' White Duck Altimus (combines a bell tent with a tent cabin) that features a large doorway as mosquito netting for good ventilation. We love this tent because it brings together the best of the bell and cabin tent together. The site accommodates and provides cots for 4 and allows an additional two guests in a small tent next to the structure. Outside the tent we provide a propane firepit (that requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra) as well as a picnic table. There are several BBQ nearby (we provide the propane) that are available for your use in common areas. My group really enjoyed our stay here. There was a family of deer that was constantly coming through the property. The views are beautiful. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There are a few short hikes in the area, but the main one is very fun. It’s about 1.5mi and full of steep inclines and declines. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There is a swimming hole about .5mi away and is only about 3’ deep in the middle. At site #12 was a propane grill with a side stove, a propane fire pit, two picnic tables, and a platform for a tent. Since we were right next to the group fire pit, prepare to wake up smelling like smoke.

We love glamping at Camp Nauvoo! The camp owner and hosts are always super friendly and go out of their way to make sure we enjoy our time! We go for my birthday and Greg always is so sweet by giving me a cupcake during the campfire time! The glamping tents are well taken care of, the restrooms and showers clean and there is plenty to explore! We loved watching the deer and turkeys that come into the meadow. We will definitely be back!

Absolute paradise! Our campsite on the creek was clean and quiet. We like that there is a grill at our site, picnic table with a table cloth already on it and clean bathrooms. The camp hosts are friendly and onsite if needed. This is our third year back and a trip our family looks forward to and very much enjoys.

Nice tent with. amenities. The organic restaurant in town is much appreciated. Being close to Placerville is great. Bring your friends and family for a weekend with lots of lawn games available. Just be sure to bring extra lights and flashlights.

Loved our experience (2nd time) in the bell tent! All we needed to bring were (warm) sleeping bags. We found some plank wood pieces to prop up the cots as the ground is on a slightly incline and slept very comfortably once we got the set up right. Loved the proximity to bathroom, food storage, bbq, river, playground, etc. esp with young kids.

My wife, our 2 frenchies and I had a great time camping at Camp Nauvoo this weekend! The campgrounds were very well kept and have everything you’d need for camping. Bathrooms and hot showers clean! There was plenty of amenities, sports, and even a store if you needed things like ice, repellent or heater etc. It was sweet being along the river/creek. The staff Katie, Grant, and Greg were super helpful and friendly.

Group Site #7 was perfect for our party of 9. Fit 3 tents just fine and room to spare. It was not buggy like the sites closer to the river but there were yellow jackets we had to ignore. Delicious blackberries were so abundant everywhere on site! Helpful hosts. Lots of amenities available that were mostly clean (bathrooms need a really good scrubbing every week). River was close and we saw so many animals! The long weekend meant we had 2 bonfires and smore nights.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Camp Nauvoo Review We camped at Camp Nauvoo this past Labor Day weekend and absolutely loved it. The site is beautiful, peaceful, and playful all at once. There are wild blackberry bushes to snack on, hot showers, clean flush toilets, and even large wagons available to help haul camping gear. The onsite store opens three times a day, and the community room has a microwave for added convenience. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The calm, cool stream was perfect for relaxing and exploring, and the overall vibe made it feel both family-friendly and serene. We loved our experience here and will definitely be coming back!

What a magical place and what a magical time! I spent most of my days sitting on the edge of a hill taking in all the beauty, getting to walk (somehow safely - no stickers!) barefoot all over the grounds like a wild person, scrambling far upstream in the creek with my family and our friend's kids for a great place to sit in the water under dappled sunlight while my son searched for crawdads, playing games in the meadow, staring at stars... There were deer and pheasants and bullfrogs, tiny lizards and even a butterfly all of whom literally hung out on us, and there's nothing like being able to pick a delicious, ripe blackberry (or 15) everywhere you go and watching the city kids you're with get to do the same. On top of that, we ended up hitting it off so well with the staff member who checked us in, Katie (the coolest!), that we even exchanged contact info! The rest of the staff we met were great too and felt available for whatever we needed. I felt like site #11 was especially picturesque, and that you got even more forest "real estate" that felt like all yours up there on the hill, but we do have our eyes on a couple spots closer to the river (and the bathrooms) for possible future visits. I could go on, but overall we were all so grateful to spend time in this gem of a place.

We stayed in campsite #12 absolutely beautiful. It was shaded and right next to the Creek that you can hear it at night so calming. The site came with its own grill and single stove 👌. The host are amazing!

Greg and the other camp hosts were all terrific. They were very friendly and Greg even took the time to "swing" my grandkids at the playground. It was a great three days. The sleeping mats in the tipi were very good and the whole experience was positive. The camp was clean and well kept.

The campsite was beautiful and very well maintained. Bathroom was spotless. Only problem we had was the following of dog rules. We were told dogs on leash from the lounge area up threw the camp sites. Which we had no problem with. But the lady manager there had a dog named Blue and he was not on leash and on Sunday morning he went after our dog who was on leash. Our dog was not injured but if there are those rules they need to apply to everyone...

Had a great two night stay in teepee 13. Close to lodge, bathrooms and creek. We had friends staying in the teepee next door and had a blast cooking and eating at the tables nearby and sitting around the fireplace at night. Can’t wait to come back.
