We are excited to share our beautiful retreat with you! We set up this glamping experience to share the beauty and tranquility of our property. Your stay here will be the perfect escape to Nevada City and the magic of the Yuba River. The property is located in the Blue Tent region of Nevada City. The region is a historic 19th century gold mining community that lies on a gold-bearing channel of an ancient river bed. Blue Tent was established in 1850 and named after its first dwelling, a tent made of blue denim. The community thrived, becoming a center for hydraulic mining. Before long, it had its own store, dance hall, blacksmith shop, boarding house and other buildings. Like the other communities in the region that depended on hydraulic mining, Blue Tent began to decline following the 1884 Sawyer decision. A farmer near Sacramento had sued the major mining company in state court to stop it from discharging mining debris into the Yuba River. This debris was destroying farmland downstream. By the early 1890s, the Blue Tent mine was closed Learn more about this land: Inspired by our own experiences traveling and staying in large comfortable bell tents we set out to create a setting we would want to stay in ourselves and share with you. THE PROPERTY The property is a largely flat and walkable 5 acres to camp and explore. We are 15 mins from downtown Nevada City and 7 minutes to Edwards Crossing on the Yuba River which is a great swimming spot. There are also many other great river and hike locations nearby. The location is close enough to be convenient but feels entirely secluded once you arrive. Our house and shop are on the property so we are typically around. THE TENT The tent itself is a large canvas bell tent. It is 16 feet in diameter and has a high ceiling so you can stand up and have plenty of space inside. We have a pillow top queen size bed in the tent with sheets, pillows and a down comforter. There are a few pieces of furniture including a vintage dresser, chair and a bedside table. We also have included some battery powered candles to create a relaxed low light environment if needed. THE CAMPSITE The campsite consists of the tent itself, a fire pit, some camping chairs and a picnic table. BATHROOM Full bathroom in the house which is a short walk from the tent. (see photos) The house is up a small hill and far enough away that you are completely private. Access to the bathroom is through the front door of the house and the bathroom is on the main floor near the entrance. The bathroom has a shower/bath, toilet and sink with shampoo and soap, towels, etc.  INCLUDED CAMPING AMENITIES We provide most everything you need to enjoy your trip. Just bring ice for the cooler and any food you wish! The list of included items is: -Two camping chairs with side table -Medium Size Igloo cooler -Flashlights/lantern -Wine Opener -Metal Camping Cups -Basic kitchenware including a pan, small pot, cooking utensils -Marshmallow roasting sticks -Grate for cooking over the fire (conditions permitting) -Blankets for around the fire (conditions permitting) -Water dispenser with filtered water from our well -Firewood (available for sale conditions permitting) FIRES We allow campfires at certain times of the year when it is safe to do so. We strictly adhere to local recommendations and Red Flag Warnings in the area. During the red flag, there is no use of outdoor fire pits, indoor wood-burning stoves, any type of open flame, fireworks, or smoking of any kind allowed on the property. We reserve the right to ban fires at any time as conditions change. PARKING Up to two vehicles may be parked at the campsite. OTHER DETAILS Our location does not have infrastructure for wifi at this time - use this getaway to reconnect with yourself, each other, and the natural world! Cell service is limited on the property; most people have no service at the campsite. We do have good service at the house which will allow for calls and texts as well as data. Welcome to Homestead Hideaway, an off-grid home site adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest. A mile and a half down a dirt road and 20 minutes to downtown Nevada City. Easy access to the Yuba River, Scotts Flat Lake, world class mountain biking trails, and rock climbing off Bowman lake road. Homestead Hideaway is a six acres of secluded forest living. We, along with our dogs, live in the green Quonset hut that you will drive past on your way in. We steward the land and live simply to reduce our impact on this wild place. At 3,600ft and amongst the trees, you can expect much milder temperatures than in Nevada City- making for a pleasant respite during the heat of summer. Little Dear Creek is a 5 minute walk and has bathtub size pools to soak in. The yurt was made locally by Living Intent Yurt Co and installed in 2021. Inside you will find two twin beds that can be combined to make a king, a giant pillow lounge, dining table, games, and some tableware for eating and drinking. Attached to the yurt is a large heptagonal deck perfect for lounging and yoga. On the deck there is a foot-pump sink for handwashing and dishes, a counter for cooking and a propane BBQ. There is no electricity or traditional running water and plumbing. Expect a rustic camping experience with the luxury of a new yurt to stay in. This means no electricity, no shower and a simple compost toilet in an outhouse. There will be a 55 gallon drum full of water for the foot-pump sink to wash your hands and dishes. Pack out your trash and leave food scraps in the compost.

Lovely, quiet place to camp, and of course the alpacas made it even more special. The heater made the tent plenty warm even though it was early November. Close to Carson and Virginia City, so we were able to explore. We would definitely return!

Weekend Trip to Secluded Yuba River Glamping

Tucked away in the forest, this cozy canvas tent was the perfect peaceful getaway. The property feels secluded and quiet, surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds, but it’s still just a short drive to downtown Nevada City and the Yuba River. Everything was spotless — the tent, the linens, and the bathroom, which was just a short walk up to the main house and well stocked with everything you might need. The tent itself was super comfortable, with a real bed and a small heater that kept us perfectly warm on a chilly October night. The hosts provided everything we needed for an easy stay, including filtered well water (which tasted amazing!) and plenty of firewood. Our pup loved lounging outside and exploring the property, and we even spotted some mushrooms popping up after the rain. If you’re looking for a quiet place to unplug, listen to the wind in the trees, and enjoy the magic of the Yuba River area, this is it. We can’t wait to come back. 🌲

Weekend Trip to Secluded Yuba River Glamping

We enjoyed our glamping experience with our dog. It is just a short walk to the main house to use their bathroom but the surrounding trees provided ample privacy. Justin and his wife were super welcoming and accommodating considering the recent rain and muddy conditions. There are outlets and WiFi available for the ultimate glamping experience.

2 nights at L.Davis Ranch and Olde LYFE Alpacas

This is a cute and charming glamping experience. You will be lovingly embraced by the furry creatures on the ranch. The glamping tent included a heating unit which worked great, as well as a barbecue grill, amble, flashlights, water, solar powered outlets to charge our phones, and much more. The breakfast was delicious, and the jams in the country store were great too. We happened to be there on a day where there was an alpaca festival, and that was so much fun. We also witnessed an alpaca giving birth. Stacy was super accommodating. We also got to meet some of the other farmers like Jim and Nancy, who is also a holistic energy healing practitioner and sound healer. We also had a really great sleep in nature.

Weekend Trip to Birdsong Retreat/Tahoe Nat Forest

I went with my 2 boys who are 11 and 14 and they had a blast! The host was very friendly and welcomed us upon arrival. Wifi worked, kids loved exploring, trampoline and throwing a few discs. It was a beautiful location and we will definitely be coming back again!!

Wonderful site among the trees! Kelley welcomed us and gave us a tour of all the amenities. The camp was full that night, but very quiet and peaceful, we didn’t hear any of our neighbors. Would definitely book again!

A lovely, secluded spot in the trees that had everything we needed. Very romantic vibes with the fire and string lights. The bathroom was a short walk up a hill and was clean and modern. Justin was super communicative and helpful. Would stay again!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Campsite #1! Our host Kelley was very responsive and welcoming. She greeted us when we arrived to show us around the campsite, which included access to a bathroom, sink and shower (all very clean). We brought our dog and he loved sniffing around and exploring. Make sure to arrive in a car that can handle driving on an unpaved road for ~2 miles! As far as activities nearby, there are tons of beautiful lakes to explore. We drove to Fuller Lake and also walked around the Sierra Discovery Trail (nice flat loop, about 15 minutes). We tried going to Emerald Pools but it was a a bit too crowded for us to bring our dog.

2 nights at Homestead Hideaway

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Yurt. It was clean and orderly and thoughtfully furnished with utensils and bonus comforts. The deck, the sink, and the 2 burner propane stove were perfect for preparing meals. The tall trees kept it cool, and the sound of the breeze was soothing. I should add that it was enjoyable to be able to walk around inside the Yurt and not be stooped over inside of a tent. Totally worth it. Would recommend :)
