As our name suggests, bears are occasionally in the area so keep an eye out. You may also see the spotted owls that live nearby - listen closely for their calls (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Spotted_Owl/overview).

Camp WAN-NA-B is a great place to get away in the forest. Property backs up to the national forest, walk to Bear River. Learn about off grid living and camping, water systems and compost toilets or just enjoy your time in the forest.
A great place to star gaze. There are many great places to hike, take a dip in the Bear River or just relax by the creek and unwind from the city life. Just a short walk to the Bear River. A small stream runs right through the property. You may even book the stream site to enjoy it close up. A very short drive to Emerald Pools, Lake Spaulding and South Yuba River. Truckee or North Shore Lake Tahoe just 30-40 minute drive for a day trip. There is also a great eatery just up the road, right off Highway 80, if you are interested in a lunch out. What ever you came to the forest for, it is all waiting for you at Camp WAN-NA-B at Bear Valley., forest therapy! This area is know for gold panning and we are located right down the road from a historical gold mine, Donner Mine Camp.

Wonderful site among the trees! Kelley welcomed us and gave us a tour of all the amenities. The camp was full that night, but very quiet and peaceful, we didn’t hear any of our neighbors. Would definitely book again!

Great area..lots of trees and shade. Fun to be more off grid and away from a traditional campground. Host,Lorrie, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area for places to hike wander and play in the river.
Very much in line with outdoor ethic and leave no trace concepts. We will definitely return for a longer visit.

I had a wonderful stay. Adam was very helpful and responsive. A lot of care is being out into the grounds. The hot showers worked well, and the roads were maintained well enough that my low clearance car had no issues driving to and around the site.

I can’t say enough good things about Kelley! We forgot our tent and our grill wasn’t working… Kelley to the rescue! She let us rent a camping stove/pans and a tent last minute. She checked in on us but we had a lot of privacy. Other guests were respectful and there were no issues with neighbors being loud. Really wonderful amenities- her bathrooms and outdoor shower and sauna options are great. We loved our stay here- the property was stunning and so close to emerald pools. Be sure to bring bug spray or a thermocell! We will be back!!!

I enjoyed my time here - the woods were pretty, there's lots of hiking right by the campsite, and warm showers are a nice touch. It feels pretty isolated, which I like - I didn't see the hosts the whole time I was there, and there were no other campers there when I was. There's a lot of wide open space and a lot of hiking trails - it's the woods! Felt like there were lots of opportunities for solitude.
There's a structure right by the campsite that's clearly still being worked on, but luckily, no work was being done on it while I was there, so it wasn't a disturbance. The lake/pond was definitely dried up - would have been nice to swim considering how hot it was, but it's not far to plenty of swimming holes.
The main criticism I'd give is the price point—$80 a night seems expensive for access to a place to set up a tent. I've seen plenty of "glamping" options on Hipcamp that provide a tiny house or a yurt for around that price. I think about half that price would be a much more reasonable offering.

The directions were very helpful and the camp location around the meadow is truly magical and beautiful. We slept so well, we had lovely camp neighbors and Adam was helpful as a host.

we had a great stay for our evening under the trees. A beautiful, serene site. Kelley, the host is wonderful. We didn’t have enough time to use the sauna, but I would definitely recommend booking that if you’re into that type of thing.

Outstanding host and campsite. Super easy to find a few miles off 80. Great description of Kelley’s land and direction. We stayed at site3 which is next to the “house”. Big enough for our Sprinter van and bike rack (about 23 feet). Kelley is the perfect blend of helpful and non intrusive. There are 2 ports potties- one inside a building with a sink and one outside in a potty tent( nicer then it sounds lol!) the camp is all solar Powered. We plugged into the system for about an hour (just ask 1st) to run our van battery back to 100 percent. There was water as well but we didn’t need it . Outdoor shower. Outdoor sink for washing dishes. She brought us a thermocell for mosquitos which was really helpful! Pay the $60 to use the sauna. What a treat! It’s heated with firewood and has a cold plunge bucket outside. Big enough for 2-3. She even brought us towels for sauna. We hiked along the bear river which is beautiful and there was an official hiking trail where the road connects with Hwy 20. So peaceful and lovely ! Adorable eve lights that illuminate paths around camp. There are some swinging Adirondack chairs too. We would absolutely stay here again. It took us about 30 minutes to Truckee and one hour to Tahoe city /sunnyside area.
Dog was very welcomed and loved it too. Things to note: it is 2 miles down a dirt road . Bring what you need or rent from Kelley. There were some very cute tent/car camping spaces on site as well. Highly recommend this gem

Absolutely amazing property.
Myself and my girl were literally the only folks this last week.
My advise is to screenshot driving directions because you won't have cell/GPS service, also I recommend arriving during daylight hours, almost impossible to find the sites in the dark.
Beautiful hikes.
Also if you see a golden lab female running around, FEED HER! she is a total sweetheart but will not let you touch her.
Thanks for letting us enjoy your property, it feels like a very spiritual place.
We will return this week if we are invited.

Weather was rather unkind for our brief stop in November, poured with rain the entire time, but we received a warm welcome from the host, who was very helpful. Hard everything that was needed, conveniently located and well priced. Indoor and outdoor plumbing was a plus.
