We are also only 1/2 mile away from the Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve Trailhead that has an additional 30+ miles of gorgeous trails to explore. Bring your hiking shoes or bike!

The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

Great place to spend the night with family. Beautiful night views and sunset views. The road to getting there is a one way lane and very narrow so keep that in mind. It gets very windy also. They have a large tennis court u can play in. The domes are pretty cool and also have some chicken in the back of the hills u can check out. Hot showers and toilet available there’s bbq equipment u can use too.

I highly recommend staying at Walden ranch! It is a beautiful property with lots to do, especially if you have little ones. Alan was an amazing host. He immediately made us feel safe and welcomed. He even took us and our kids on a tractor ride to meet and feed some of his animals. We loved meeting and spending time with all of the animals on the property. This place was better than any other campground or state park we’ve stayed. Can’t say enough good things about this place. 10/10 😁

Everything was so convenient! Gas tank for the BBQ grill was ready, tools for grill, tables and benches, etc. The entrace ramp is indeed steeper than I thought, but it wasn't a problem with an Outback (didn't scratch bottom).

What a hidden gem! We stayed for three nights, and it was fabulous. It’s just rough enough to feel like camping while still having every amenity you need to be very comfortable. We brought a camp stove and setup a pretty legit kitchen in the communal area. The bathrooms feel very… outdoors, but they flush and have privacy with no smell. It’s a far cry from digging a hole in the woods! And all for the price of a state campground? Sold! Alan is also the sweetest man. He left fresh eggs for us, took us along to feed the cattle one day, and answered all of our questions promptly. No complaints at all. Wonderful experience, and we’ll be back.

Very nice and comfortable stay, all the animals were amazing especially all 7 dogs all so nice and friendly and Alan was beyond nice and even gave us a ride on the tractor for a hay ride to feed the cows, canoes to use to paddle around the lake. definitely a very nice place and will be coming back

I had an amazing two-night midweek stay here for a solo “adult time-out” trip with just me and my Goldendoodle, Lulu. The views were absolutely incredible and truly did not disappoint. The location felt very private, even though there are a few neighboring Airstreams nearby. Each space is thoughtfully positioned to maximize the views while still giving guests plenty of privacy. It’s clear the owners were very thoughtful and deliberate in how the Airstreams were placed, which I appreciated.
The Airstream (#4) itself was charming, very clean, and well appointed, with that perfect nostalgic feel. The bed was super comfortable, which made it easy to relax and unwind after long walks along the coast. Everything was thoughtfully equipped, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
The host was a fantastic host, very attentive and responsive. I even managed to lock myself out of the Airstream at 7 a.m., and he responded right away to help. I also appreciated that check-in is very precise. The entry code is sent right at the 3 p.m. check-in time, which keeps things organized and secure.
The sunsets were unforgettable and easily one of the highlights of the stay, along with the fire pit. It’s also just about 10 minutes to town, which is convenient, although honestly the views were so beautiful I didn’t feel like leaving much.
Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable stay. I can’t wait to return, whether with my husband, a few girlfriends, or for another solo reset.

All of the animals on his land made the trip, it was so so much fun. Highly recommend visiting! We were only there one night but didn’t want to leave!

We all loved staying here and we would come back again (hopefully when it’s not raining). Alan was super friendly and the site, bathroom, water, canoes, hay rides, etc were all perfect. We did see another review to pack earplugs because it can be loud at night (the geese lol) so we all slept great. I would definitely recommend people think about what dogs they bring since there are many loose unneutered male dogs that are friendly and come around to the site regularly (as well as a pig!) One younger pup, (a jack russel mix?), repeatedly peed on our things but I think he’s still learning from the other pups how to behave. Overall we had lots of fun and definitely recommend this place.

A get away from the getaway! What beats a trip to half moon bay!? A beautiful campsite away from the hustle and hustle of town... Beautiful panoramic views and huge/private area to camp your little heart away. Easy to find and great communication as needed from the host. Thanks for making your space available for others to enjoy..

We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.

Weekend Trip to Dreamy California Coast Airstreams
Love the airstream and location. Mark’s communication is prompt and very helpful. Though the President’s Day long weekend rained a lot and super windy for us to chill on the outside, we love to stay in the cozy and comfortable airstream. Shower and toilet work well. I had a lovely time with my sister. We will be back for sure :)

Weekend Trip to Dreamy California Coast Airstreams
Great for a romantic weekend on the coast! The views were INSANE, and it was so nice having a pizza oven, grill, and firepit. Everything was set up ahead of our arrival, and the host was very responsive. The camper was perfect for two people and very comfortable, as well. My partner and I spent Valentine's Day grilling and watching the sunset over the ocean--would highly recommend that experience!

Getting there means driving on a very narrow and winding road for about 5km. It is however well worth it. It feels very private and secluded even though there are houses sprinkled through the valley. Lots of room to set up and enjoy 360’ views from sunrise to sunset. My two dogs enjoyed the freedom of running around without having to stay tethered to my camper. Clean porta potty. I didn’t see any potable water but I’m sure I could get some from the host if I needed it. Given a chance in the future, I would return.
