When my husband and I were dating in NY we confessed our mutual desire to get back "home" to the west. It made me fall in love with him even faster. So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home."
I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa. When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be.
So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

Park your RV at our place on your travels, we are 5 min off the interstate! Dirt road is great for walking, some parts of the year people pass through for birding. Some people come to check out the area to potentially move to the area and some only come for the winters. We also have a short little nature trail that we made ourselves. We are 30 minutes south of Tucson, 25 minute drive away from Madera Canyon/Coronado National Forest for some great hiking and bird watching! No light pollution so you can see the stars good at night. Remember the term sky island. Here in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, mountains seemingly come out of nowhere to dominate an otherwise flat landscape. Discover the five distinct areas of this national forest, all of which have their own sky islands.
Start your wanderings at Sabino Canyon. Steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation follow Sabino Creek, which maintains water year-round. We arrived in a driving rain storm. Bill came out to meet us and lead us to our site and helped us get backed in and set up. He couldn't have been more welcoming. Due to our inexperience, we managed to flood the interior of our trailer and Bill was right there with a shop vac to bail us out. Really beyond the call of duty!

A standout RV Park and Motel with all the charm of the midcentury-modern American West with a tiki-bar twist. Toni is lovely and welcoming – as were all the staff I met – and she personally came out to greet us in the morning after we arrived very late. There is plenty to do but not the usual things to see...that's what makes it so special.
El Pais is truly a delight to behold and a place you'll want to revisit. TIP: If you try to book online and find there is nothing available, message Toni and Karl because that might be an error on HipCamp. You don't want to miss out on any days! ✌️

Barb is the most gracious host! She so kindly opens up her sacred sanctuary, which features a beautiful spread of Saguaro cacti and offers the healing medicine of silence and nature. It is perfect for either a one-night tent trip or an extended stay in one of her cozy, vintage trailers.
The property also includes a tranquil fish pond, healing horse energy, medicine wheel, labyrinth, and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. It is located close to Saguaro National Park, and Barb has the best suggestions to make the most of your Tucson explorations.

If you want a top notch, peaceful, relaxing retreat, you’ll find it at the Saguaro Sky Ranch. If you want a superb host to become a newfound friend, you’ll find her in Barb! She’s welcoming, helpful, available, open to questions and responds quickly.
Barb has created many amazing spaces on her land amid the saguaro cacti and desert-scapes, each one a mini-refuge to unwind, chill out and enjoy the sunrise, the wide open views overlooking Tucson, or thunderstorms over the distant mountains. I found my favorite spot and didn’t want to leave. Be careful to not step on the resident tarantulas!
Genevieve may be small by today’s standards but it’s plenty of room. I loved the homey touches and the super comfy bed. The shower and bathroom are enclosed but open to the blue sky. Loved it! You are steps away from jumping in the pool.
Saguaro Sky Ranch is in close proximity to the national park. Trailheads for miles of hiking are just down the road. Ask Barb about the nearby petroglyphs.
Can’t imagine a better base camp for seeing Tucson nor a better host to know!

I was very hopeful after reading so many fantastic reviews, and I'm happy to say that it surpassed my expectations! I can confirm it felt very safe as it was tucked behind a very nice, clean residential area, but was far enough away from it all that it was extremely peaceful and a stunning view. It was also easy to find as many other reviews mentioned. I would happily return and recommend to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, safe place to stop in the Tucson area.

We stayed in spot 5. We set up camp with our back to the neighbors and it was perfect! There were 2 chairs by a firepit at our site. Some sites had picnic tables. The view is stunning. The grandkids loved the horses. Our host went above and beyond for the grandkids with the horses! Good people! There are plenty of trash cans. Water and electric at each site makes camping in June possible! There's a very clean outhouse too! These spots accommodate big RV’s and tents.

Jennifer & Jonathan were excellent hosts! The land is majestic and gave privacy to the experience. The directions & instructions were clear. If you're ever taking your RV into the Tucson area this spot is one of the best I've seen!

What an awesome place! Yes you’re right next to the horses, but I actually quite enjoyed their presence. It felt very private and whenever work had to be done, everyone respected my privacy but was also willing to chat! Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Tucson area, great access to Saguaro and Mt. Lemmon.

This place has some quirks but the CHARM is overwhelming and I absolutely loved staying here!! Toni is amazing and so so sweet and accommodating. We needed a place to bring our small pack of rescue pups while visiting Tucson and this was perfect for us. We cannot wait to come back and would highly recommend booking with her when you are traveling through Tucson! And if you do - make sure to tell her Danielle sent you :)
