This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study. We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects. You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please note: We are tobacco-free, medicinal herbs are legal and ok as long as children are not around. What to expect: We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time. Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. This is my 2nd time this year for overnight stay at the Naked Date Farms wonderful glamcamp. Great set up with everything you could possibly want...very comfortable queen sized bed , 4 chairs, a heater for early mornings and clean bathroom with showering. It's a perfect getaway! Easy parking right next to my tent. Propane outside fire. Love it and will definitely return next season !

Weekend Trip to Glamper Cabin in the Aspens & Pines

Out of all of our many stays, this may end up being our absolute favorite. The Glamper Cabin has everything you need and nothing you don’t… it’s the simple, peaceful, beautiful escape my family needed. Our girls spent hours building forts and “museums” in the woods and nights were spent playing games together, warmed by the wood stove. We enjoyed pumping water and living simply.

2 nights at Camp Saguaro

We loved camping at Camp Saguaro. We had planned to tent camp in mid March but the unseasonable heat wave caught everyone by surprise and daytime high temperatures were over 100 degrees. We were able to change reservation to stay at the Adobe cottage and were amazed at how well the thick adobe walls kept temperatures comfortable. So we were able to thoroughly enjoy our 2 night stay. The bathrooms were excellent, clean, comfortable with a very nice hot shower. We plan to definately stay again, when the weather will allow us to better enjoy the beauty of the Tucson area natural wonders.

2 nights at Shiloh Ranch Guesthouse

We loved staying on Sandee’s land….the cabin is small but had everything we needed especially in the kitchen!! The kitchen and shower are a tight squeeze but honestly it was all clean and wonderful! She had so many things in the kitchen that we didn’t need to unload our kitchen camping tote at all! My parents stayed in the downstairs part and myself and three children stayed upstairs which was the perfect amount of space for us all! My kids highlight was the VHS player and assortment of VHS tapes (we had been tent camping with no electronics for over a week) The land is beautiful and tucked pretty far away from a close big town so the sky was beautiful at night and barely any light pollution! There is small fragments of petrified wood alll over the land and it was fun to look around and walk the property She had a wonderful top deck and a patio space with a very nice fire pit and grill on the ground level that we enjoyed each night and morning! We will definitely be visiting again and staying in one of Sandee’s cabins again ! We had a quick 15-20min drive to Petrified National park

Weekend Trip to Brewery on an Organic Date Farm

A little piece of agritourismo in the Arizona desert. The tent is spacious and manages to cut the temperature by almost 10 degrees, so camping in late spring is still manageable. You are far enough from any major population area that the stars look nice and crisp. The brewery on site has fantastic beer, and even better date-based desserts. Seriously, get one of the cookies. The food food is fine, probably better than trying to do your own cooking. The last leg of your trip will involve a dirt road, but it's very well maintained. A carolla should handle it fine. If I have one big complaint it's that a mysterious generator went off every 10 or so minutes, working against the goal of escaping the noise of Phoenix.

2 nights at Desert Sage Retreat

The desert sage retreat was perfect! The morning view of the mountains was beyond beautiful and the sauna was a fun touch. The cabin was clean and cozy (got a little cold but that’s desert camping) and it was close to everywhere we wanted to go!

1 night at Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

On a car camping road trip, this was a perfect stop to not have to unload everything for one night! Quiet, peaceful, and the pool house was great! The kitchen space was nice for basic food prep (I had my own kitchen stuff) 10/10 would return!

Weekend Trip to Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

We had a wonderful time staying in the pool house. There was a little heater that helped keep us toasty in the night and the the weather was glorious when the sun was out. The garage/kitchen bathroom area was nice to be able to use a fridge and wash hands. Karla has a great setup and I enjoyed reading about her work and seeing her art and wood projects. So cool! We had some great conversations with the folks who were also staying around a bonfire. The outside was so nice that was so inviting to hang around and just be. Would go again and recommend to others:)
