We host RVs, tent campers, safari tent glampers and even a selection of cabins, in the high desert foothills of Northern Arizona. All of our guests get access to hot showers, a clean and private lavatory, and a large fire pit with locally mined flagstone benches under the shadow of two pinion pines. The home was built by my parents in ‘82. My Mom was an avid hiker and outdoors person. She collected and planted agave pups in the yard and tended to them over the years. Because they’re watered and the pups are removed each spring they continue to grow to mammoth size. Once they bloom the plant dies. 3 have bloomed, producing 40’ stalks. Agave Americana. Learn more about this land: Nestled in a canyon full of giant oak trees , you’ll be amazed that you’re in southern Arizona. The dirt road is ideal for walks and bicycle rides. The property is 4 miles from the town of patagonia, just 2 miles in from highway 82. Patagonia lake state park is 9 miles away. We wanted someplace quiet and peaceful. We found it at Thousand Oaks. Steve and Cindy were fantastic hosts. Cindy recommended a hike nearby and it was a beautiful, fun little jaunt. The night sky was beautiful and did I mention, it was quiet!

Gravel road to get there. 2.8 miles of it. Once there it was a wide open space. I ordered firewood. So glad I did. We had a guitar jam by the fire that was epic. Really felt the backroad of America vibe. We stayed 2 nights. 🎈

This place was incredible! We loved every second spent on the property. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, even though the interstate is 5 miles away. Paula provided more than enough firewood, and a porta-potty within walking distance of the site. She stopped by in the morning to check on us, but aside from that, never saw another human. It was incredibly relaxing. Just a quiet night under the stars. The last portion of the trip is a bumpy dirt road, as others have mentioned, but I had my truck fully loaded with equipment, and never felt the need to move out of 2WD. You won’t need a 4x4 to get to the property. You WILL however want some daylight to make your way to camp, obviously.

Weekend Trip to Desert's Edge at Lake Havasu

Our stay at Dan’s place in Lake Havasu City was nothing short of amazing. Truly! This was our first Hipcamp experience, and wow — the bar has been set so high. The location was peaceful and scenic, felt very private, and it was located just a short walk to Castle Rock Bay where our Florida dogs had a blast splashed and played in the water together. Dan was a b*tchin' host too! He was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the area’s land and wildlife. We even went on a rock-hunting adventure through the refuge together at sunrise — such a truly unique and special experience! The sunsets were absolutely breathtaking, and the entire experience felt safe, beautiful, and welcoming. We only stayed two nights, but honestly, we could have stayed a month. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a genuine, nature-filled Arizona stay! 🌵✨

Beautiful desert land with incredible skies! The site is easy to get to but remote enough that you’ll feel secluded. Paula is a friendly host but you will mostly be left to enjoy the land and sky on your own. Road is a little rough getting out there but nothing 2WD can’t handle. Wind can be intense on the hill top and the ground is stony but plenty of large rocks to anchor with.

The place is absolutely beautiful and peaceful! Cindy, the host is friendly and helpful, giving us directions ahead of time. We had a great time last weekend with our dogs and cat. Patagonia was 10-15 degrees cooler than Tucson but we still needed AC so the electricity was handy. The camp site was private and we felt safe even it's right by a road. The neighbors waved when he drove passed and that's really nice. The gate to the property is tight but we got in with our 22 ft truck and 22 ft trailer (I misread the instructions). So definitely follow the 34 ft total length recommendation.

I had a large family, my wife, five children, and 77 year old mother. We enjoyed ourselves. It was quiet and serene. The children and I loved the canyon, although the water had dried up. Everything about the campsite was exactly as the hosted described. The view was stunning. Sunset, star gazing and beautiful sunrise with the mountain range in the backdrop. Cell phone service is great. The portable toilets were dirty and hadn’t been cleaned in the while, mostly dirt in it. The roads are bumpy getting to the site but driving slow will get you there, at least when it’s dry. I would camp here again.

Beautiful scenery and very secluded. Had a wonderful night camping here with my dog. I wished I was staying longer. It was easy to find and 4 wheel drive isn’t needed. A sedan can make it if you drive slowly. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a campsite off the beaten path.

Camping at Dan's place was as expected. It's a pretty simple lot where you can pull in, set up, and stay a night or however long will little to no work. It was a level spot and had electric hookups. There was a fire pit and picnic table too. I'd stay there again if I was passing through like we were on this trip.

This is a beautiful, quiet property outside Patagonia. There is a large area for tent or RV camping that is level and has trees around it. The is also a gulch near by with a rich mining history, and beautifully colored rock. We hope to go back again sooner than later.

We stayed at site #2 with a 14ft trailer. The Good: Easy to park the trailer, great views, Paula is a great host, she is working on a structure which we used with a line to hang some towels. The Bad: The road in is very rough! We travelled slowly while towing, but it was OK enough to drive out and back with our truck. We left early due to forecasted high winds, so not a site problem but something to consider for Winslow. The Ugly: The restrooms needed cleaning, we opted to use our own camp toilet.
