*Dear Campers, due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be hosting during the 2024 season. Sharing our land with you and providing a space to create memories that will hopefully last a lifetime has been a great joy to us. Thank you for spending time with us and, as always, happy camping. Sarah and Stein * Camp Blackbird is a 28 acre property that runs along Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, PA. So besides the camp, there is an additional 3,002-acres of state park to explore. There are a total of 2 sites. The land was vacant for decades and unfortunately used to dump household garbage during that time. We cleaned up the land, built a home and bat habitat. We, Sarah and Stein, always disliked renting a camp site somewhere and then ending up on top of people. So it was our goal to make space on our land for campers like us that want to be surrounded by nature, not other camp sites. A portion of the proceeds from your stay will be donated to bat habitat conservation and bat sanctuaries around the world. We are grateful for the hundreds of campers that have stayed with us. Thank you to all of you that have left a clean site and not made unnecessary noise that would disturb the countless species that share the forest with us. Also, Thank You for patronizing local businesses while you are here. We'll give you a map so you can see where to take a short walk to get to the lake. There are miles of hiking trails a few minutes walk from your campsite. Beltzville Lake is a great place for paddling. The boat launch is just a few minutes drive from Camp. In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive. The property is not suitable for parties or events. The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding. The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible. VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party. We welcome pets. Please add your photos! Especially of your dog camping! Check out the 300+ photos past campers have added. So many of them are dogs camping it up. We, the hosts, live on the property about 700 ft from the campsite. We try to have minimal interactions with the guests to ensure privacy and personal space but we're always reachable.

*Dear Campers, due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be hosting during the 2024 season. Sharing our land with you and providing a space to create memories that will hopefully last a lifetime has been a great joy to us. Thank you for spending time with us and, as always, happy camping. Sarah and Stein * Campsite1 is a tent site surrounded by woods near a lake for up to 6 people. Included is unlimited firewood with everything you need for a campfire. There are benches around the campfire and a picnic table to use.  Unlimited water is provided and a portapotty only your campsite uses. This campsite is ideal for people looking for a quiet camping trip. Camp Blackbird is a secluded 28-acre property located along the border of Beltzville State Park in Lehighton, PA.  This tent site, Campsite1, is surrounded by trees with a partial view of the 949-acre lake.  Walk a short ways to swim or sit along the lake.  Miles of hiking trails for you to explore from your site.  You are not on top of other campsites and the state park does not allow overnight camping. You might hear people on the lake from your site during the day but overall, its a quiet spot.  There is a 2nd campsite about 250-ft away from your campsite.   In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and white water rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive. The property is not suitable for parties or events.  The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding.  The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible.   From your car to the campsite is a 30 second walk.  It's the earth you are laying your tent on so its not perfectly flat or without stones.  We recommend bringing an air mattress, cot, foam pad or extra blankets to lay down on your tent floor.  Some past campers have slept in their car in the driveway. If you prefer sleeping in your car, Campsite2 has a better layout for that.   We welcome pets. Please add your photos! Especially of your dog camping! You are welcome to rent Campsite1 and Campsite2 at the same time if you have a group up to 12 people counting all ages. We, the hosts, live on the property about 900 ft from the campsite.  We try to have minimal interactions with the guests to ensure privacy and personal space but we're always reachable.   VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party.

Guests rave about the privacy, ample amenities like firewood and potable water, and the pristine nature surrounding the site. This is the second time me and my husband stayed in this campsite. We loved everything about it, the river is a short walk from the campground, portable bathroom is clean, plenty of firewood, enough drinking water and potable water to wash hands and dishes and whats more important it’s in the woods and secluded. Also, there is a general store near to run a quick errand. We kept it in our favorite list!

We had a blast getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and staying at this serene and beautiful campsite. Everything was conveniently set up for us and the water and electricity were worth the extra $$$ for us. We would DEFINITELY go back again and recommend it to others.

Extras

  • RV Hookup Electric and Water$20.00 per itemAt select sitesYou can plug in your camper van or small pop up camper 14-ft long or less. Its the "clothes dryer" looking outlet. It is 110v not 220v. You can also use a normal plug if you borrow our adapter. There is a hose to screw into your camper also. Or if you don’t have a camper and just want to purchase electric to plug in lighting or a space heater. As long as it’s not for playing music or running something that makes noise. There are owls nearby and you’ll mess up their HOOTing.
