Towner's Country Paradise started out as a wild forest and pasture for cows in the 1940's, owned by Llewellyn Towner. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. By the early 1970's our main and largest pond was built and since that time our fully functional cabin, several more fish ponds, roads, trails, running water and generated electricity have been added. Christmas Trees are still grown and harvested by Terry's son Scott Towner. Green rolling hills, deep valleys, a waterfall, ponds stocked with fish, a fully functional cabin, herds of deer, flocks of turkey and Canada Geese, & well-maintained roads and trails here in Addison NY. It's so private that even most of the people who live in our small town don't know we're here! CHECK OUR REVIEWS! OPTION to camp/hike in the woods for a more wild experience. Set next to a peaceful stream and 60 seconds from a stunning waterfall, you'll need a tent and an All-Wheel Drive (or 4 wheel drive) vehicle to access this site. Camping here offers the perfect blend of an open field, miles of hiking trails through the forest, rolling hills, and valleys. We've built an roofed overlook where you'll get a birds eye view of our own private waterfall we call Little Niagara (great place to picnic). The falls have a shallow pool at the bottom--bring your swim trunks! Bring your tent, sleeping bag, a ground cloth, and good air mattress because you'll be roughing it! We recommend you purchased one firewood bundle and additional wood can be purchased for $8.

Site 1 is our favorite tent spot! Nestled back in the woods and 10 feet from a stream (see pictures), you'll have the ultimate combination of privacy, quiet, nature, and peace. MUST SEE--A stunning waterfall is 2 minutes away by foot. This is primitive camping so be sure to bring a tent, ground cloth, air mattress, a sleeping bag, and anything else you might need to stay in the woods! WE LOVE TOWNER'S CAMPSITES. My friends and i have come here a half dozen times in the past 5 years and we would be here far more often if it wasn't a four hour drive from home for us. Site 1 is literally a dream. The trees, the river, the picnic table & fire pit. It is the most serene, picturesque site we have ever found. If you are looking to unplug and get away from noise, this is the place for you! We love walking the property, checking out the waterfall, stargazing, and taking in the nature around us!

We had a wonderful time at Towner's Country Retreat! We were at tent site 1, which was perfectly secluded but not too far from the outhouse. The firepit was clean and the wood we purchased from Scott was cut perfectly and well dried. The creek was peaceful to watch and listen to, and we heard a great variety of birds. I definitely agree with others that 4W/AWD is best, as the road in and out of the tent sites can be very windy and slippery. Unfortunately we didn't get to do any wading or swimming because of the weather, but we'll be back sometime soon!
