Stay in a Rustic Bunkie situated a distance from the road surrounded by trees and walking trails over 60 acres. The bunkie features a queen mattress, 4 windows and if desired, the mattress can be rolled up to accommodate a centre table for card playing. There is no hydro, indoor water or heat in the bunkie. If you need to charge your cell phone, consider having a portable solar phone charger or a portable power bank as there is NO hydro on the property. ** NOTE - be sure to enter the full address in your GPS for accurate directions. Outdoor amenities include: propane barbeque, firepit, countertop for food prep, cast iron frying pan and pot, plates, bowls, mugs, and flatware. A sink is on site for dishwashing and hygiene using non-potable water which we provide. A pit outhouse is available; sorry, no shower yet. Bring your own linens, pillows, sleeping bag and water for drinking. Since you'll be in a nature environment, bug spray is a good idea. Be mindful of identifying poison ivy too. Due to invasive insects, please do not bring firewood - we have firewood on site. The grounds are an excellent location for walking, photography, writing, drawing, painting, forest bathing, meditation or just to chillax. The Stonefield Gazebos has 3 luxurious units on a beautiful 100 + acre piece of heaven. Our original Lakeside Gazebo is steps from our private lake with its own dock. The White Oaks Gazebo is in our old white oak forest and The Cedars is in our Cedar forest beside a stream and river. Each of these 3 luxurious units are not in close proximity to each other. We designed it this way in order to give our guests the utmost privacy. Each gazebo has its own chic and private outhouse with shower area. All gazebos have beautiful beds with comfy and ultra soft bedding. They are equip with everything you should need from plates, cutlery, BBQ utensils, tea kettle, coffee french press, wine glasses, cups etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner ready to cook your meals. There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

Sit by the pond, sit by the creek, sit in the waterfall, sit out at Blueberry Hill for a pleasant breeze or up on SunStar Ridge for some nightly star gazing or lay back in a hammock or on zero gravity chairs 1 Bunkie on a hill overlooking the pond and 2 private tent sites, one at Boot Hill and one in the Field of Dreams. Each site has a fire pit and a compostable toilet and there is a compostable toilet in an outhouse on the property for the bunkie. Great for canoes, kayaks, bird and wildlife watching with spectacular star gazing. This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape. Some finds are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well. A private piece of Prince Edward County! An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. So much to see and do here, lots of sightseeing, nature trails, conservation areas and don’t forget the world famous Sandbanks provincial park! (The largest sandbar beach in Canada). Perfect getaway for a couples glamping experience, solo glamping, peace, quiet, and relaxation. Or to just let loose and have a great time! There are no houses to either side of the property, so there’s no worry to be quiet 😉.

We are less than a 10 minute drive to Bobcaygeon, where you can find the world famous Kawartha Dairy, scrumptious restaurants, specialty clothing boutiques, grocery stores and pharmacies. Sturgeon Lake is the predominate lake with fabulous fishing/boating/ swimming. A 20 minute drive will get you to Fenelon Falls, Buckhorn or Kinmount where you will find the famous Kinmount Movie Theater that have the latest movies available. The Canadian Rail Trail is also nearby for anyone that wants to do some biking/hiking.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage. The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max. Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there. The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks. This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children. Enjoy!

It is called "The Tamarack Shack" and is a 10x10 cabin that we built by hand. We lived there - without power or water for 3 years. It's still standing, but is home to many critters now. Prior to our stewardship - this 100 acres was a sheep and cattle farm - heavily overgrazed and needing some loving. We've spent the last 2 decades planting 25 000 trees, digging 3 ponds and erecting fencing and out buildings for 15 acres of pasture. 100/10! I don’t think you could have a bad stay here! It’s the perfect little cabin in the woods surrounded by so much nature! We always have a great time and can’t wait to hopefully visit again in the future! Thank you again Katrina and Graham! 😊

The river flowing through… YES, you can sit in and enjoy! Sooo refreshing, for both my dog and myself, as it was very hot during my stay. Natalie was very welcoming to both of us and My puppy truly enjoyed the loving attention given. It’s called the Blue Heron but we also experienced deer crossing in the water, beaver and maybe otters/mink playing in the water, a cute fox, a raccoon and a porcupine! Definitely a beautiful spot for relaxing! Thank you Natalie! 💝

We really enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the seating arrangement inside helped when it was raining outside. The barbeque had extra amenities like barbeque tools. And the fire had some extra newspaper to help for starter. There are chairs around the fire and the table for eating. It was very useful. The property is quite large. We used the fan that was provided and it was very welcomed. The outhouse was quite clean too. If you are going, bring shoes that can get wet as the whole property is a little marshy. Also, my daughter did not like the little ants in the Bunkie, they did not bother me. The beach down the street was beautiful. About a five minute drive. Bring water shoes for the beach since it is rocky.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend

From the moment we arrived we knew we booked the right place! Katrina and Grahams private oasis was far more than we could have expected. The cabin was equipped with all sorts of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. The inside stove was a true blessing for us coffee lovers lol. The room itself was more than enough room for my family of 4 (2 adults, 2 small kids) AND 2 large dogs. We were able to fit a queen size blow up mattress beside the bed to make a mega bed for the 4 of us. The cabin was also stocked with flashlights, lanterns and head lamps! The out building had cotts if need be along with an abundance of chairs and fishing equipment. The fire pit was big and beautiful and came with a VERY useful cast iron pot with grill to boil water over the fire. There was some wood readily available and hubby enjoyed foraging. The sitting area overlooking the river had a stunning view where we took many photos. The 2nd sitting area had a screened in porch with deck and dock just a few feet away. The kids had a wonderful time watching the crayfish and attempting to catch minnows here. The 3rd sitting area had a firepit overlooking the water. We enjoyed canoeing and even took a trip to Crowe lake for some fishing. Katrina & Graham literally thought of everything to make this place perfect and We had the most WONDERFUL time ♡ Our dogs were in literal HEAVEN the entire time swimming their hearts out. Our only regret was not booking a longer trip! Thanks SO much K&G! we WILL be back! 😁

Weekend Trip to Spirit Ridge Acres

We went out on a limb for a spontaneous fishing trip and came across this cabin as it was a reasonable price and close to the fishing spots we were wanting to go to. Upon arrival we were greeted by Arnold who took us on a tour of his oasis pointing out Cardinals nests telling us the story behind how they came to be as we were walking down the path to the cabin. As our humbled host showed us the cabin we were in awe with how beautiful it was and with how much was supplied to us for our stay to be easy and relaxing. The stay there was peaceful and private. We couldn't ask for anything more, as every time you looked around we were surrounded by beauty and continued to see more and more detail and beauty within the property. Including there animals who we were so lucky to meet. And Arnold's shop with handmade craftsmanship. It is well worth taking the time to see the craftsmanship. We loved our stay with Angela and Arnold so much that we booked again within 5 minutes of heading home. Our hosts were the main reason in our quick decision to return within weeks. They are the most wonderful people.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend

Absolutely loved the Riverbend. Our dog was happy to have space to run around and us not having to worry about her. Many sitting areas to relax at whether you wanted to watch the rapids or enjoy the screened in gazebo by the dock. Short trails wandered through the property for some exploring. And the cabin was a delight. Small but roomy with everything you need. Lots of little touches to make it that much better. Even the outhouse was clean and roomy. We will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend

After a stressful week at work, we were looking for a place to decompress and think about nothing for a short while. Riverbend's pictures and previous reviews fit the bill entirely (we're drawn to rushing water and rapids). The pictures do not do it justice! Booking was a breeze, and Katrina and Graham even made a point to make sure the firewood shed was adequately stacked (we're also drawn to campfires) and even installed the missing ladder on the dock in the morning before we arrived. The cabin is extremely well-appointed with amenities and stuff you may have forgotten. The outhouse is truly a destination in itself - not sure I've ever put those words together before! Just a wonderful place to unwind - we spent most of the hot Saturday in the water just lazying around on a tube and stand-up paddleboard (that we brought). I suppose an honest review needs to include something mildly negative, so here's our only complaint - we had to leave and go home. That was more our fault though. We can't wait to come back. Thanks Katrina and Graham!

3 nights at Spirit Ridge Acres

We had a great time at Angie and Arnold's cabin. It's a cute, quiet place with the sound of birds. It has some basic things for cooking, but I recommend bringing your own. Angie and Arnold are very welcoming. We met the horses, dog, and Scottish bull. The firepit was nice for stargazing. They brought some fresh eggs from their farm.

We need instantly fell in love with Grayotter cabin, it’s so welcoming and cozy. It’s equipped with absolutely everything you could need. The buildings and property layout gives preparation for the ability to enjoy your time in any weather setting. It’s a large private property on the water with multiple viewing and enjoyment options. It’s evident a lot of thought and effort went into this place and I can’t wait to stay again!

Weekend Trip to Forest Time Retreat

Excellent place:quiet,safe. 11 km. from Campbellford. We stayed there already second time,although we prefer do not visit same places twice. Nice place to spend few days together far from civilization. Hosts Michaelene and Paul are very helpful. At the camp you can have all necessary stuff: kitchenware, woods etc.

10/10 will absolutely recommend it. We had peaceful quiet time at the bunkie. Natalie had a screened gazebo next to the waterfall so it was quite serene. She also provided us extra utensils to use on the bbq.

Had such amazing time with my partner and our dog! Kriss had everything we needed and were friendly and communicative. They checked in on us on our second day which was really lovely and felt very welcoming. Definitely would stay again! The place was serene!
